Keep in mind that Tua's backup qb USED to be the starter. Tua came along and got the job because he's more talented. So its not a shock that after Tua had a bad day and got hurt, Alabama was able to come back and win. In fact in Skip's argument, he made Tua's case because Georgia has an offense AND a defense; West Virginia and Texas have comparably lackluster defenses.

Skip Bayless seriously hurts his credibility when he says "the SEC was down this year by all metrics and measurements." The fact is, 8 SEC teams are currently ranked in the AP top 25, and 11 of the SEC's 14 teams have .500 records or better and are going to bowl games. Just those stats alone make the SEC the best conference in the nation. Also, two of the top 5 teams in the playoff rankings are SEC teams.
If UGA was the first credible opponent that Tua played then I guess Murray hasn’t played a credible team yet this entire season.
Again, the way Skip said it he had no credible opponents all season then. I never said Murray’s season wasn’t amazing, it definitely was, but it’s a big product of the system Baker did the same last season. Tua has changed the entire offensive ideology of arguably the greatest coach in college football to fit his skillset and has done it against top defensive opposition throughout the season and while injured.
Wasn’t Kyler in the SEC last year at A&M and was horrible against real defenses and transferred out to OU and now he is putting up numbers. He couldn’t do that in the SEC. He is a product of the system in OU in a 7-7 division.

Tuas got the best team, best wrs/TE, one of the best OLs and Ds in the nation. Kyler has the best OL, probably the best RBs if whats his face didn't get hurt and 2 of the best wrs in the nation. Haskins got a decent receiving core, bad D, bad OL and multiple game winning or tying drives in the 4th.
Skip played the roll that Cris Carter plays on FTF. All he did was interrupt good points to try to discredit a good argument.

There's a difference between the best player and the most valuable player. The Heisman is awarded to the best player, so I think Tua will get it because from what I've seen, Tua looks like a slightly better QB than Kyler. Kyler, however, is the most valuable QB because he had to make up for Oklahoma's terrible defense. But the SEC is the best football conference, and Alabama did shut out #5 LSU earlier in the season, so I think that'll tip the scales in favor of Tua

So better qbs have to average 60 rushing yards a game to be a better qb?nah Murray has impressive stats while not throwing the ball. His rushing yards are higher than most of the running backs on his team. To me that screams he’s a better all around player. I he can throw it he makes a play with his feet and scores or gets a much needed first down.
@@apples8872 it's not just a stats battle to determine the Heisman. Tua never played in the 4th quarter because Bama was so far ahead of everyone else. Bama on the season averaged more points in the first half than almost the entire SEC averaged in a whole game (Bama averaged 38.8 points in the 1st half of games, Georgia averaged 38.9 points in the whole game). And he also did it while having a 9.25 TD/INT ratio and completed 67% of his passes while playing in the best football conference in the country. I think that'll put Tua over the top

If Tua doesn't get hurt, not only do we win, we probably win by a lot more. People forget how much of a weapon his legs are, when that was taken on the first drive, it took away a lot of play calls, it took away scrambles, and it led to some bad throws and yes, less confidence. Whole team played out of character...but I partially think it was just meant to be that way...Jalen deserved that spotlight, which he used not for himself, but to give glory to God, just like Tua did last year.

Here's my opinion:
We saw Baker Mayfield do the same thing last year. Tua has done something we've never seen. Taken a supreme juggernaut, and make it EVEN STRONGER. SEC is FAAAAR better than the Big 12. I'll take Tua. And Haskins is only in because there has to be a 3rd place lol

I'm with Shannon on this one. Skip keeps dishing Tua about his stats when Alabama was only 7 down when he finally left the game after his second ankle got injured. The receivers dropped the first 4 passes that never happened all year. Skip is now making excuses in advance for O.U. for their injured receiver. Just face it Skip, you are clueless about football. Skips argument is correct. The trophy is supposed to go to the player who lifts his game in time of need. The heisman trust encourages the voters to look at value, not stats. Murray was the correct pick.

One played tougher opponents but had a good defense the other had no defense and had to put points up non stop. The single most important point that everyone is missing is that Tua is the only Alabama qb in the Saban era that has yet to struggle versus SEC defenses. There are a multitude of qbs that throw for an absurd amount of yards and touchdowns that come out of the big 12. It's rare that it happens in the SEC. That's a testament to how good Tua is and why he should win the heisman.

Sorry skip but tua played all but thr first drive injured. He didnt get taken out of the game until his injury was stomped the second time. Also,except for the 2 picks,tua had a GREAT game. Receivers not so much. They left 4 tds on the field because the dropped absolutely perfect passes.

One of them plays on an offense with three probable round 1 WR picks, a quality tight end and two high end running backs - and a very good defense, going through a weak schedule in which he struggled horrendously in one of the two games he played against not-terrible opponents (and the only actually good team they played).
The other dragged his defense kicking and screaming to the playoffs, without his #1 running back for most of the year, and less receiving weapons.
If you're saying that Bama played a "weak schedule," you're 100% wrong.
So, as Oklahoma players are so pitiful. It took Kyler alone. Not the other 10 on his offense. This is your point. If I were on that offense and heard the bullsh.. like you are spewing. I'd be ready to kick somebody's but. Oklahoma is a brand name that can recruit nation wide. If like you are saying. The other players suck and only Kyler is worthy. If Oklahoma is not getting 4 and 5 star recruits consistently. Well...you have only your coach's to blame. As weak as the BIG12 is. Oklahoma should be in the playoffs every single year. Texas is only the other team. Clemson has been there with Alabama in the BCS. Oklahoma should be there ever year also in that weak conference. Yet, how many times have they've been there? @@keno6214 Hardly him alone, but he was the quarterback (and so takes most of the credit, and most of the blame if the offense isn't good... which was never - passer rating over 200 against Army, since you mentioned it) and had less weapons than Tua did - as did literally every other quarterback in college football, since nobody else has three receivers looking like they'll be future 1st rounders, plus a quality tight end and a pair of very productive backs.
Speaking of good defense, Tua just shat the bed when faced with Georgia. And not in a 'the defense didn't stop them and I couldn't keep up' way, but in a sub-50% completion rate, multiple interception, need Hurts to come in and competently quarterback to save the day kind of way.
There were legitimate questions before the final week. Tua lost all hope of the Heisman with that performance. Simple.

Shannon nailed it. Yeah Tua had a bad game against Georgia but he was playing the second best team in the SEC and he’s went against the gauntlet of the SEC all year half of which he was injured. A lot of his incompletions the SEC game was dropped by his receivers and tight ends. Tua should have gotten it period. He went against the toughest defenses in the nation. Kyler played against much easier competition period.
He still put up great numbers. Had his Heisman moment in the Texas game. He was also consitent throughout the entire season.

Tua is a good player, left handed quarterback don't do very well in the nfl, I know there are two or three but success is short lived
