  • After a downfield pass to rookie Romeo Doubs, who dropped it during a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints, Aaron Rodgers shared his thoughts on the Green Bay Packers young receiving core. The Quarterback slams the receivers, stating they’re dropping passes, not running the right routes, and making bad route decisions. Shannon Sharpe isn’t a fan of what he sees as Rodgers throwing his teammates under the bus, and explains why this leadership style isn’t beneficial for the Packers. Watch as he and Skip Bayless share their thoughts on Rodgers’ comments.

      He is doing this to them publicly not to elicit change or to motivate them, but to prepare the media for what he obviously believes is going to be a bad year. He doesn't care about his guys, he cares about what the media is going to say about him in 6-8 weeks when they've lost 4 straight and he doesn't look good. He's trying to frame the narrative now. Brady never did that. He worked with his guys. No matter who they gave him... just another example of the vast, immeasurable difference in the leadership intangible that separates Brady from every other "talented" quarterback... it's about winning not self imagine... well said Mr. Sharpe

    That story Shannon shared about restarting practice was about the mindset of a champion. Most will walk away and think it's about perfection, but the true meaning is being reliable and focus every moment of practice that will transcends during gameday. A bad practice = A bad team.

      Yeah, but if Shannon was going to share a story, shouldn't he have shared one where the the Broncos were already champions? Skip asked him if they were SB champions at the time that Mike would stop practice and Shannon said yes. Then he proceeded to tell a story from October of 97 when the Broncos hadn't even won a SB yet. They didn't win a SB until January of 98. So, Shannon should've given an example from 98.

      I've coached baseball for 15 years. I always tell my players: you play like you practice. If you're sloppy in practice, if you're lazy in practice, if you nonchalant a grounder in practice, if you don't hustle going down to first in practice ... you will do the exact same thing during a game. Practice build muscle memory but it also build "will memory". You have to train yourself to make plays, but you also have to train yourself to WANT to make a great play every time. You've got to want the ball on every single pitch.

    Shannon really hit the nail on the head with the point about taking ownership of the young guys mistakes.
    This is something we do lot of in the military as well. There are a lot of times when as a leader, I’ve taken the heat for someone else’s mistakes. No one is harder on me than I am, so I know I can take it. But with the younger guys, there is so much learning and adapting going on and you can absolutely demolish their mental health and motivation by breaking them every time they fail. Aaron Rodgers is what we like to call a “blue falcon.” It’s a euphemism for someone whose actions harm their team, but otherwise to their own benefit.
    But when you’re a leader, you recognize you’re responsible for the young guys, so their mistakes become yours, and you have to mentor them for them to be better. Because an effective team requires everyone’s work.
    Telling is NOT teaching.
    Teaching requires someone wanting to learn the relevance and importance of the lesson, and you cannot give them that by ripping them apart. People don’t want to learn from you after that.

      Think it’s less about him saying they have to be consistent and more about him telling the media they’ve been inconsistent. The issue is he could tell them all day to be consistent and he’d be a great leader for it. Publicly announcing rookies and young guys are making mistakes in their first training camp is a little different.

    Aaron Rodgers isn't a beloved leader in the locker room like tom brady or Peyton manning or Brett Favre His teammates respect him and know what he means to their team and franchise but they don't love playing for him. Too many players hall of fame or players that played with a rod have critizied his attitude and leadership.

    Aaron Rodgers in back to back home playoff games from 2020-2022 has came up small yet he always blames the WRs or defense

  • @youthinkyourcoolhuh

    I think this was an extension of his ongoing beef with the front office. It's like he's saying 'This is the receiving corp that was brought to me and they suck.' More than him being actually frustrated with the players, he's more frustrated with the front office for not getting the caliber of talent that he wanted

  • @kerke4639
    @kerke4639 년 전

    I understand that he could have only said those things among the team but I think it isn’t a bad move. These players will be around the media now and a player of that caliber saying this puts a lot of pressure in you, which they would have faced at some point any way. I think them getting used to that environment could back fire this early but it could also help those receivers learn to deal that pressure you get from the media early on. And I think he wanted to be positive on Jordan Love. Jordan Love has been a punching bag for some time for the Packers and Rodgers just wanted to look out for him.
