I never thought I would be crying over Married Life again since it's been a while I've seen Up but just seeing that Ed Anser passed away. The feels are coming back....
This has always reduced me to tears. I have recently become a grandfather and, if anything, makes me even more emotional when I see how much this couple loses out on. It's just a perfect piece of cinema.
"Welcome to the Salty Spitoon! How tough are ya?! -How tough am I?! I watch Up countless times because it is a fantastic movie... -Yeah, so? -I cry ONLY ONCE every time at the end of the Married Life scene in the beginning. -Uh, right this way, sir, sorry to keep you waiting!"
This is what the real loyalty concept is all about, the basics of life is finding the one who’s ready to sacrifice anything to find you a way to get you out of your depression and sadness, someone who never gets enough of you and always trying to be doing whatever it takes in order to keep you as much happy as possible ,what I’ve mentioned right now applies to this emotional video , I know that marriage requires a lot of money but at the same time I hopefully I can find a partner who’s so special from the others someone who’s more qualified to be doing what Ellie & Carle has never done to each other throughout their married life,
Honestly...this is how I wanted my parents to go out. They grow old together and pass on. But instead, mom got breast cancer and passed on and now my dad has to live without my mom beside him...but that's okay because he has his kids and his family and when my dad...passes on too... he'll truly be happy... This was really sad and this is how I wanna live my life. Being with my love until we grow old together. If my parents can keep it together then I can too ~
*Everyone after the trailers:* I can't wait to see that old guy and kid fly a house, that should be silly and fun! *Everyone 7 minutes into the movie:* Wow, he's got a great girl with him! That's nice, more fun characters for our adventure! *Everyone 11 minutes into the movie:* I wanna go home :'(
5 Minutes No dialogue Amazing soundtrack Enough to make a full grown man shed a pail of tears. Its good to note that the music plays a huge role in the first five minutes.
This 5 minute scene alone explains everything about Carl's grumpy personality and attitude and makes us understand and feel deep sympathy. All that done in a 5-minute scene. Incredible
Death: "It's time to go." Carl: "Am i a good guy?" Death:"no, i told you we're the best. Now close your eyes." Carl: *close his eyes* Death: "Now open." Carl: *open his eyes* "ellie?" Ellie: "carl?" Death: "Hope you're happy now."
It's amazing how when some of us were younger, we didn't understand what was happening and when we look back it's truly meaningful to relive these memories.
You sit down and watch the video and now you are in tears. Then a girl from the ice cream stand walks up to you and asks why you're crying and then you both laugh at the fact that you're crying at her favorite movie. You see the ice cream in her hands and ask what flavor she got. She says cookie dough, your favorite. You offer her a seat to finish the movie and she says that she has to go but that if you give her your number then maybe you can both see a different movie together. Suddenly you look at the video one more time and realize that if the KRplus algorithm wasn't as weird as it was you wouldn't have read this and wasted all the time you did reading this.
My wife Katheryn passed away July 20, 2019 from familial ALS Married 15 years 1 month 8 days She lived 49 years 1 month 15 days battled familial ALS until the end 2 years 8 months 2 days I completely understand this portion of the movie
Even then, I don't think I fully understand that sort of pain, I've never let myself become vulnerable with another person and lose them. Even with that, live YOUR life it'll be okay even when it's not.
This part of the movie is extremely emotional but no one talks about the ending where Carl looks through her book and realizes that her best adventures are all with him even if they didn’t achieve their dreams she was still happy to be with him me heart
You know, there’s a detail in this opening segment that gets overlooked a lot. Carl didn’t know how to tie a tie when he married Ellie, but he knew how to tie a bow tie, so he always wore those. He’s even wearing one on his wedding. And throughout his life, Ellie is constantly tying his tie up. She even straightens his bow tie when he wears one. But when she is hospitalised, she is no longer able to tie it for him. And he can’t do it because he never learned. So he wore a bow tie when he visited her. And she very subtly straightens it for him. And the worst part is, for the whole rest of the film, he wears a bow tie, since Ellie was always there to do it for him, but now she’s gone.
I just noticed something 0:39 there’s nothing in the background 3:23 now there is buildings in the background! They did such a good job to indicate how much things can change just like how new generations of children will experience something different than what we experienced.

@@bunbun3431 yeah, I thought the same some time ago... but fertility issues can come after a miscarriage, so, she couldn't have a baby because of that too. I think that's why they don't (and couldn't) try again
One of my favorites.. This scene made me cry when I first saw it and still I get a knob on my throat every time I watch it. Love it when he throws everything out the house yet places Ellie’s chair and his next to each other on Niagara Falls then goes to save Russell & Kevin…
bubblybangtan lmao, I first watch this when I was 6 and I saw the baby scene and all I can think of was "what's happening? Why is she crying? And more importantly why did one of the happiest opening and soundtrack just turned sad af?"
Man this made me cry so much. I have a loud ass family and the oldest out of 4 energetic hyper kids and when this came up I’m telling you the WHOLE house went silent in a whole new level that I thought would never happen. This scene is so mesmerising and emotional
If you notice, Ellie's symbolic color was pink. Every scene that impacts her features pink. The last bit of pink light is on the house and dies out as Carl closes the door.
Actually, back in 2015, Pixar ADMITTED to using this tactic to play with us. They said that they developed an "Ellie-magenta" that they used in her scenes. If you rewatch the montage... ...all you'll see... ...is Ellie.. ...and pink hues. Pink is incorporated subtly throughout the whole montage, including her funeral scene, to make us think of her. Then, after the funeral,Carl goes home and the pink in the sky fades away, signifying that he's lost that ray of color in his life. So, he goes on this epic adventure, meeting Dug and Russell, returning Kevin, and getting color slowly back into his life. When after Carl gives Russell Ellie's pin, and there's the happy end scene with him, Russell, and Dug... The scene cuts to his home with Ellie, sitting on Paradise Falls (where she always wanted to go), and the sky is completely filled with "Ellie pink." She finally made it, guys.
Did anyone else notice that Ellie fell on the same hill that Carl always struggled to climb? Or that she died in the same bed that Carl was in when he got that leg injury? Or that they had Ellie's funeral in the same church where they got married? The small details like that make me adore this scene.
@@PreservationEnthusiast In my opinion, I think they do it on purpose. It describe that some places we used to feel happy in there but It's can be change. I really don't know how explain but this video is a masterpiece so every scenes have their own meaning.
@@huongnguyenthitu8684 yeah that same thing happened with the house. how it used to be a happy place but the it gets all sad and lonely when Ellie dies
They stayed in the same town all their life. Same job at the zoo, same hospital, same church. Playing into Carl’s fear that they never went anywhere, but despite the consistent setting, the ties and adventures-not destinations-that Carl and Ellie had that made life special.
Carl and Ellie remind me of my own grandparents. My grandparents (maternal) met as kids. They both married at 19 and had my mum one year later with three more yet to come. They were both devoted to each other and apparently never fought. They were married for 65 years before my granda passed away. His funeral was in the same Cathedral they married in. My granny is still alive at 96 and as healthy as a horse. But she misses my Granda terribly and all she wants is to be with him again. She spends a lot of time with her great-grandchildren and -through me- her great, great grandchildren. She’s very proud to meet three generations of grandchildren.
As a woman struggling with infertility, this hits me harder and harder every time I watch it. But you know what? It also makes me feel seen. So many people out there long to be parents and never get that chance, and it’s rarely talked about. It’s one of the loneliest things I’ve ever had to go through.
i think that's a reason why the clip hits harder, because in the end of the video you know she's not unhappy that they never raised a child or went on a adventure or stayed in the house above the falls. she's more than happy to have lived this life, because he was always there for her and he filled everything you'd think was missing in her heart.

5 Minutes
No dialogue
Amazing soundtrack
Enough to make a full grown man shed a pail of tears.
Its good to note that the music plays a huge role in the first five minutes.
Instrumentals without dialog are the ones that touch me as well. Dumbo, Fox and the Hound, Up. All very sad moments for me, a grown man like you haha
dukemydogy Dumbo was one of the saddest films of my childhood
It's some good at writing, composition, and storyboarding.
dukemydogy yesssssssss Fox in the hound gets me
This 5 minute scene alone explains everything about Carl's grumpy personality and attitude and makes us understand and feel deep sympathy. All that done in a 5-minute scene. Incredible

The music's beat is related to Ellie's heartbeat.
It was fast and lively when she was young and slow when she was old.
I think it had to do more with the pace of life as you get older.

Yk what’s especially outstanding about this scene? It’s very simple. And yet it’s remembered after 12 years.
0:37 Notice how the town started small and then grew into a city at 3:26 Nice bit of detail I thought should be pointed out
You know, there’s a detail in this opening segment that gets overlooked a lot.
Wow. That's attention to detail. That right there is why I love Pixar
Damn. You have some good eyes there bud.

If you notice, Ellie's symbolic color was pink. Every scene that impacts her features pink.
The last bit of pink light is on the house and dies out as Carl closes the door.

Pink and purple? Very nice observation, by the way. Thanks.

Wow didn’t even realize that...now I can’t stop the tears 😪😭
That's amazing and beautiful. I love you Pixar.....❤

u realize u made me cry and no one does that.... where do u live¿
Glad to know that. Thank you so much, beautiful lady!
Here's one to Ed Asner, the original voice of Carl (1929-2021).
It is so sad to think that we are all gonna get in this kind of situation someday.
Did anyone else notice that Ellie fell on the same hill that Carl always struggled to climb? Or that she died in the same bed that Carl was in when he got that leg injury? Or that they had Ellie's funeral in the same church where they got married?
The small details like that make me adore this scene.
They couldn't be bothered to redraw and reanimate the sets.
