The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. @@matteosoranzo1729 it's a riskier shot because you're crossing the net lower, you have to hit it deeper because of the angle, it's harder to control and it's therefore more likely to go out. Tall players like Del Potro can hit those easier and Del Potro beat Federer in the us open final with those flat powerful shots. Nadal is not as tall and has a topspin game so it's going to take an adjustment that he might not want to do. Just like Federer for years had a weaker back hand and finally emulated Wawrinka and made it a higher risk shot. Tennis players are human. That's why they have coaches.

Federer beat him in the French
Federer had 2 Match Points in the Us Open
Nadal had a break in the final Set and just 2 Games away from winning the title. Federer 2004/2007 is the closest thing of being unbeatable; he was 11-0 in non-clay Slam finals and he lost in clay against the best version of Nadal who lost like 1 match in 3 or 4 years

Same value on the scoresheet, sure. But you donโ€™t have to look far to see how much of a game changer and momentum shifter these kinds of rallies can be. Just look at the chess world championship that happened a few weeks ago. Magnus Carlson and nepo were neck and neck for a few games. Long games that were extremely tight and no one came out on top. Then in the fifth game or some number like this, the worlds longest game ever played happened over 7+ hours, and Magnus Carlson finally squeaked out on top, and after that nepo was never the same. He looked like a shell of his former self in the remaining games, and wasnโ€™t able to keep up with carlsen at all even though he was able to just a few days ago. So yes it has the same number of points, but it can be absolutely demoralizing to loose a rally like this, knowing you put so much effort into it without anything to show for it
