I'll give it to you he has reinvented himself artistically, yes, but he did so in a very lack luster way. If you going to try something new, TRY SOMETHING NEW 100%, introduce us to new dancing, new styles of video, new fashion, creative vocals, bring something new to the table, don't give us the same usher just with a new beat cause that is what is making all his recent attempts ( especially 2012- current ) very lack luster

Oh and derulo and Bruno are in entirely two different lanes, one is an artist/performer (Bruno) the other is more of a gimmick that just needs to go away asap (Derulo) lol

jmanexpress think about it though....black music isn't doing as well as it was over 10 years ago. His singles have had an old school R&B feel that you wouldn't really expect to hear on radio (mainly Good Kisser) that song was refreshing and definitely a new sound for Usher, which is kind of why it has been doing better than SCTGITY. It's hard to really say what people want these days, especially when it comes to R&B music. I do think he should step away from the pop sound, but honestly he would build more hype around his album if he made a pop song, but like you said, he needs to keep it "black" yet have a pop hook. I really hope his next single is really good to the point where it makes people get excited for Usher again, whether it's a pop or R&B record.

jmanexpress DeRulo can barely sing live and DeRulo is a young artist so of course he's going to have more "popular" songs than Usher right now. And if Usher didn't evolve or make pop music, he probably wouldn't still be relevant

Well we have different opinions on Derulo, but if Usher is going to evolve like he's always claiming to do, "evolve or evaporate" as he said, he needs to actually evolve, not follow the crowd then just add his little flair to it cause that's not how you make memorable songs/albums and that's also not evolving that's just trying to fit in where you don't belong. That's all I'm saying.

I get what you're saying but Usher has always done things reminiscent of MJ and he doesn't try as hard as Chris Brown or JT does (I'm fans of both) and this song also has Earth, Wind and Fire and Marvin Gaye written all over it too, not just MJ.

I agree with you.There are so many artists that are copying Michael Jackson, but forgive me Usher`s fans in my opinion Usher is copying Michael too much.Not a long time ago Usher post on his Facebook a video "Drake challenged me to bring out my signature moves last night" and on that video you can see Usher dancing Michael`s signature moves but it's not even the point.In most of his music videos and performances you can see Usher copying Michael.I don`t know why, but to me it`s irritating.He is 20 years or even more on the stage.He should find his own style a long time ago.These moves that Usher is calling his own signature dance moves in fact are Michael Jackson`s signature dance moves.Watch Michael`s Billie Jean performance from 1984 or other performances from 90` and you will see

Usher has been known for taking that glide and making it his own and popularizing just like MJ stole the moonwalk on Motown 25. People act like MJ made up his dance moves, he didn't. He borrowed from Fred Astaire, James Brown and Jackie Wilson. All artists have their own style, but they all borrow elements from legends.

Foxx I know that Michael borrowed some of his dance moves from James Brown , but it`s not the same.Usher is copying Michael definitely much more than Michael was copying James.Michael was unique and original.Sometimes i have a felling like he's imitating Michael.The way he`s walking on the stage , the way he`s singing, "his dance moves", some of his costumes from concert also reminds me of MJ, he is doing the same poses.Of course NeYo, Chris Brown,Justin Timberlake or Bieber are also copying Michael, but are they copying him much more than Usher?
