Why NO ONE Plays: Chongyun | Genshin Impact

I still remember when Chongyun was a member in the original National team before Sucrose took his place.

Chongyun is like that one friend left behind, while all his friends (Xiangling, Xingqiu, Hu Tao) graduated at the top of their class and got a great job/life.

The bliss that I, a Kaeya main, felt when I used Kaeya with Chongyun, Shenhe and Xingqiu together for the first time-by far my favorite team

I still find it funny that when you pair him or Xingqiu with Amber, due to how fast she applies pyro, with good timing you can melt or vape 100% of their spirit blades / rainswords for ridiculous damage.
It's a super niche thing but they're mostly the reason why Amber was banned in the CN speedrunning community.

Chong Yun specializes in supporting Cryo DPS by converting their normal attacks into cryo. The problem is that the best cryo DPS characters like Ganyu or Ayaka can already do that on their own. He has the same problem that Qiqi has - being too good at something that isn't really needed.

I'm excited for this one, I haven't heard people talk about Chongyun on either side of the good-or-bad scale.

As a Chongyun main who's remained faithful to this popsicle boi, it's such a shame to see his inability to keep up with new cryo characters. When I got Ayaka a year ago, it was so sad seeing how much stronger she was (granted Chongyun was a 4 star and was mean to be a support character). Chongyun is a character I immediately got attached to, and I really hope he and these other weaker characters get some type of buff.

I'm kinda disappointed when mihoyo did not show chongyun on shenhe's archon quest. All his screen time as of now just puts him as just the guy who hangs out with Xingqiu and not much to show his individuality. He has a hangout event but everyone has that and I'm guessing that most played that only for the primos and achievement.
Team building-wise, what I think is another factor that holds Chongyun back is that he is a character you build around, not someone you can freely use as a flex slot despite having supportive capabilities.

It honestly breaks my heart knowing how little love Chongyun gets. He was pretty much my very first main and because of that I’ve always adored him. Even after I changed mains, I still had a soft spot for Chongyun and I still do after all this time. I get why not many people play him, but at the same time I wish that people at least where able to get to know him as a character. I know it’s probably never going to happen, and I should probably just accept the hangout and forget about it. But still, I truly hope that mihoyo will one day, maybe just maybe, have an actual event starring Chongyun. I mean- it’s not like he’s a boring character, I would genuinely love a event all about hunting ghosts or something like that. Just give my boy some love, you gave Xinyan some as of recent, so do the same for Chongyun, Mihoyo.

clearly, his kit is supposed to help with freeze teams, but his weapon is claymore and it shatters so its a bit contradicting.

Good video, but you failed to mention how Chongyun's viability changed with Shenhe's release. The two of them form a PERFECT COMBO on MANY levels:
- Shenhe's main strenght is the usage of her skill, wich Chong's CD reduction helps maintain and even overlap.
- Shenhe's Press Skill buffs 5 instances of cryo damage and Skill/Burst damage, Chong deals exactly 4 hits on his burst and 1 on his skill.
- Chong's Cryo infusion allows the WHOLE TEAM to use Shenhe's Quills, even non-cryo units.
Honestly feels like Shenhe was made to specifically buff Chong.

I'm so proud to say that no matter the fact that I have some good built meta characters, chongyun is still one of the characters i use the most. I fell in love with his design the first time I got him last year ago and I've been building him to perfection ever since. So far his charged can go up to 25k and his brust up to 35-40k with no buffs when he crits. He deserves so much more and I hope hyovse will give him the recognition he deserves

I have an Ayaka that could easily replace him, but I also have Xingqiu and those boys are a package deal goddammit

I use to play him in abyss. he was my best hybro abyss herald shield breaker until I got ayaka, he carried me for almost an year and my first 4 star excluding noelle.
He's worth building specially for F2P players who doesn't have alot of options against those abyss heralds.

I feel like the thing with Chongyun is that he’s actually really strong,his abilities are good,his passives are good and his constellations are good to the point where i dare say that if what he does was actually needed he would be a Bennett tier character but…as already stated no one actually really needs him,his role is currently completely useless and even worse he’s not a "just slap him in" character like Zhongli because a lot of characters even have negative synergy with him :/

Perfect timing with the banner.. the pain I just experienced was getting twice as many ittos as chongyun.. my chongyun needs constellations.. I played chongyun as a support to diluc.. I accidentally pulled auntie and well now chongyun is my best boy and diluc is in the basement

I must say, Chongyun and Xingqiu carried me through the early AR. They make a great freeze team. But Chongyun has been underestimated as a Cryo DPS in early AR for quite a long time now. In addition to that, in the later AR, Chongyun just simply can't compare to the top cryo DPS in terms of stats number bc he's a 4*. And second, there isn't enough content for his abilities to shine, Ayaka has her own Cryo infusion, Eula usually focus on Physical damage and Ganyu uses a bow :v Maybe future characters will help my boy shine I don't know. But I gotta say, for F2P, Chongyun is definately worth building.

I love him so much in his Hangout Event, honestly. And I can’t forget his appearances in Moonlight Merriment and especially Fleeting Colors in Flight.

The moment I heard this line, I made a vow to keep on using him no matter what anyone says.

With the introduction of Shenhe, Chongyun's popularity has gotten a sizeable boost - both due to exposure from Shenhe's character demo and stories, and because of his cryo infusion ability. I've seen several meme-teams with Shenhe, Chongyun, another support, and a main dps with very fast normal attacks (like qiqi or Zhongli) and surprisingly those work really well

My love for Chongyun stands no matter what. His idle animation is honestly the coolest

I'm excited. I did one of those challenges where you have to main the unit you pull first. I pulled chongyun and at first I was really disappointed, but then I realized he can be really strong. Now I have a melt chong that hits 80k per blade in his burst and his artifacts could be quite a bit better. He deserves more recognition as a 4*.

13:50 I feel like Chongyun's power disparity is quite simple. Hoyoverse overvalued Infusion too much pre-launch. While Bennet also offers Pyro Infusion, they considered it valuable enough to make it his C6, and yet it's still one of few constellations in the game people won't enable due to it possibly screwing up team compositions. So Chongyun's minimal party buffing is because they thought infusion was a good enough selling point on its own, but as we've seen, it really isn't.
Hell, it's obvious this was their logic for all of 1.X, since even when we got the first self-infusions with self-buffs, they came with downsides (The HP Drain for Xiao and Hu Tao, Tartaglia's skill ceiling/cooldown shenanigans). It wasn't until 2.0 that we started getting characters with innate self-buff infusions with no downsides. And no, Yoimiya not being as good as Hu Tao does not count as a downside.
It would also explain why most early catalysts are just kinda wonky, because Hoyoverse figured that always doing elemental damage was strong enough to warrant undertuning. (Except Sucrose)

I have only used him in trail events, and I understand why he isn't that used anymore: He can't synergise that well with anyone anymore.
So oddly enough, he excels in Mono Cryo teams, and what's even more odd is how good he sounds on paper with Aunt Shenhe. Y'know, since his Aunt solely boosts Cryo attacks, and Chongyun can decrease Skill and Burst CD, it feels like Shenhe was made to solve her nephew's issues... At the cost of her being *really* niche too.

I still play the originl national to this day so I feel bad for Chongyun for being kicked out of the meta

I remember when my first character I ever pulled was Chongyun. Not that he's bad, its just that his utility is not sought on as of the current meta.

Chongyun was my most wanted 4* when i started the game, first triple crown and to this day one of my best built dps characters
I really believe just higher na multipliers or some tweaking to the shattered reaction would basically do the trick for him since his kit is actually fairly solid. Heck, even Sayu has higher na multipliers than him and her main role is being a healer, hoyoverse just did him really dirty

Hoyo: We'll give you 4 Chongyuns instead.

i got Chongyun from Noelle banner on my first day of playing, and initially, when i was not so keen on game's basics, i combined him with Razor which is the most popular mistake with these guys. i was messing around without any building until i got my first 5*, Tartaglia. and while i was grinding artifacts for him, i got lots of amazing pieces for Chongyun on the way. also, standard banner kinda helped me by giving two skyward blades which would be a loss, but Chongyun is just fine with it, his already cheap ult becomes spammy and his attack stat is going up and up.
rn i have him at 2,2k attack, 50/148 crits and 150% er
love to use him with Xingqiu or in melt comps

In retrospect it's really kinda sad that they gave Chongyun a relatively rare ability to make anyone a Cryo damage dealer, and then very quickly over saturated Cryo so much that you'd never need a separate character to make your dps cryo

Im proud to say that I have being a chongyun main since 1.0, currently he does 450k with a pentamelt and im very proud of it 😤

Chongyun was/is my 2nd main - first was Kaeya.
I mean, I kinda knew he was a bit underused, but this video was unexpected.

Pulling Shenhe for Chongyun (while not having Ayaka or Ganyu) proves how much I love him

despite them being basically the entire meta, i don't have ayaka, ganyu, eula or even shenhe, i wish for characters based on personality and appeal and thanks to genshin I've discovered that the calm and collected ice lady is my least favorite character archetype, so I'll be sticking with Chongyun, thank you! And yes I do have an emotional attachment to him, such an underrated character imo

I cant recall chongyun even getting screentime at all until hangout events released, and screentime after that is very little
It’s unfortunate but hopefully he’ll get more screen time, like how xinyan got an event with childe that one time

I got Chongyun while trying for Xiao and ended up loving him unexpectingly. I always chose to keep him on my team during the Perilous Trails event because of how comfortable I am with him. Mans is my number 1.
Hope his next rerun is with a 5 Star I truly want cause I’d love to get him to C6.

chongyun is a great nuker with a heavy-hitting burst that is especially good at breaking elemental shields however i would say he has three main issues
1) his e skill causes cryo infusion to the active characters and can be good in certain situations but has the same problems as bennet c6. his skill also doesn't do much for ranged units like ganyu
2) his weapon has anti-synergy with his kit due to shatter
3) his kit makes it so that he is meant to played like a support or sub dps but some of his constellations require him to be the main dps to have an effect (like the one which releases 3 cryo blades after his last normal attack)

I like him because his skills are aesthetically pleasing, I have all characters and I still think that Chongyun is the most reliable Cryo applicator, useful against those abyss herald. With Shenhe, he can pull off tons of damage on a short cooldown and energy cost.
But I can understand his lack of popularity...

I'm really excited for future Ningguang episode. In theory she checks all the boxes of the exact opposite of the type of characters vars puts in those videos. She comes up in the story constantly, she has attractive design, her gameplay is one of the smoothest in the game (assuming you animation cancel) and she has a niche role of geo dps. And yet, very few people play her, probably because similarly to Yanfei she needs high investment to reach peaks of her performance and she's kinda stuck at Zhongli's hip, since he's essentially required for her to function (although arguably it's not necessary a Ning problem but more so a Geo problem).

Am a happy chongyun main- he was my first 90 character, first one with all perfect 20d artifacts and i intend to triple crown him :] even though there are much 'stronger' characters he's just fun to play :))

On a side note, Chongyun as a DPS is actually cracked, BS/Gladiator's artifacts with Prototype is doing more damage than my friends DPS Keqing. It's insane.

You said he's not mentioned in the game, but he has a hangout, right? I personally like him very much, because of his story, but also because I got him very early into the game and he was my first C6 character

I’ll share my Chongyun story as well & how he singlehandly made me invested in this game :)
I started this game last year in February because my little sister begged me to join! Diluc was the character I wanted the most but I got Noelle and mained her instead. Genuinely I loved Noelle’s playstyle just swinging her claymore around but I didn’t really love her geo element. I eventually got The Skyward Pride but it just laid dormant.
Then March came around and Chongyun suddenly came home to me. I ended up instantly loving his playstyle and his cyro vision! I equipped Chongyun with The Skyward Pride and I made him the leader of my main team. Chongyun’s cute appearance along with lovable personality actually made me excited to unlock his lore and listen to all of his voice lines! Then his hangout came out which I thoroughly enjoyed! By the time I maxed out his friendship he had already become my favorite character in the game! For real I’m dying for Chongyun to make his own impact in a real quest or event!
Chongyun has been my main ever since I got him and he hasn’t left my team since!
Just about everything you can do with a Character I did with Chongyun!
He was my first triple crowned unit and first to have an all gold artifact set! I even got his constellation maxed out and he is spoiled with a five star weapon!

TL;DR: I joined for my little sister & I wanted Diluc. I got Noelle and started maining her instead. Eventually I got Chongyun and he changed my entire view of the game. Chongyun has been on my main team and I still main him till this day! Chongyun has been spoiled by me ever since too. I used to play Chongyun with Shenhe before Ayaka's rerun. All I can say is that I'm glad I pulled Ayaka. It's not that Chongyun is bad, it's that I used him as a DPS when he's more of a utility unit.

Why I play Chongyun
1. Skill field decreases cooldown of skills and burst cast inside, helping rotations of teams
2. Cryo Resonance
3. Using Sacrificial GS makes him a very good battery for Cryo team, and extends his cryo field time
4. Burst hits hard, can help break shields
5. Cryo infusion field allows my Kaeya to continuously apply cryo and his kit to benefits from all cryo dmg bonuses
6. Lets you get all stacks of Mistsplitter
7. One of the cons also decreases cryo resistance of enemy hit by ice sword after skill expiration

I think Chongyun is actually great 👍
I been maining him for over a year and since then hes only getting stronger! I hope people give him a chance to shine since hes a very flexible character

He was one of the very first characters I got when i first started playing and is also one of the oldest remaining members on my team. Both him and xingqiu have done wonders for me together, however I do understand why he's relatively unpopular.
He's in a weird place in which his kit is in this limbo between main dps and subdps/support. He seems to be damage focused, but his scalings are quite low and the fact he uses a claymore kinda ruins his opportunities for freeze. But his support capabilities are also not too impressive. He can enable cryo units that don't have a way to infuse themselves to deal cryo dmg with ncs, which is nice but overall niche, since the more powerful cryo dpses (namely ayaka and ganyu [and eula, but she's physical, so she doesn't need it]) can do it themselves and not a lot of people use the rest of the cryo group as dps. He can also enable some reactions but there are other characters that can bring more than simple cryo application.
In the end i stopped trying to use him as a dps, however I still love this boy and I refuse to bench him ever, so instead i actually made him the sub dps to xingqiu (who is my actual main). How it works is that when he puts down his frost field, it allows xingqiu to freeze everything and also proc the mistsplitter's 3rd stack. This along with bennett's buffs and kazuha's support capabilities (cc, vv shred, elemental dmg buffs) make this team quite effective at dealing with chambers where there are big crowds of enemies, as everything stays frozen and I can just slice them to pieces with xingqiu's rainswords. It's a really fun team comp in my opinion, however i understand it's beyond niche

I didnt care for Chongyun at all when I got him, but recently I did the hangout with him and it made me like him a lot. I'm now building him to replace Kaeya.

I feel like he's getting really under apprciated. Chongyun is very much viable to this day. I love putting him in the Abyss with Diluc, so then it's like a free-melt-estate :D It's also oddly enjoyable to spam ults and abilities of these two without end, thanks to their low energy needs. I know it might seem like a weird pair with Diluc's own infusion, but the fact that it stays after swapping, and Chongyun's field doing extra attack at the end is crucial here I think.
Also YES, Ayaka Ganyu and Raiden are indeed very popular, but still not everyone has/wants them :/

I guess his problem is in freeze teams his ult shatters instead of freezing them. As for melt comps he's okay in that spot.

Seeing this made me so excited because Chongyun is one of my favorite characters! When I was watching previous "Why NO ONE Plays" episodes by Vars I was thinking about if Chongyun would be a good one, and now here he is! My boy

With c2 kazuha, a burst chongyun melt team is actually very competitive among meta comps. Burst chongyun actually clears content faster than xingqiu in my xiangling bennett kazuha comp. Chongyun is all frontload damage, so if an enemy or boss moves a lot, you won’t be wasting xingqiu burst time chasing them. Chongyun melts the enemy down with a quick burst and that 40 energy cost. He is criminally underrated

Well I’ve mained Chongyun from the beginning and will always do so no matter how many units I get
I have loyalty trouble and I love him a lot no matter who is a better unit

You forgot to mention his greatest asset, his immense drip

I honestly feel like Chongyun should have been a catalyst user. That would have made him so much more useful on freeze comps, make him pair with Xingqiu perfectly (as well as the Frostbearer which literally has no use as of now) and catalyst just fits him better than a claymore IMO, considering he's an exorcist/monk. Not much else would really need to change with his kit if he was a catalyst user, especially since he can shred cryo resistance on his own, which isn't something I've seen anyone mention yet, and he'd work amazing on a melt team with Xiangling. He would have been a great main DPS option for early game and still possibly be competitive late game as well with enough investment. On top of changing his weapon type, another good buff would be for his steady breathing talent to work on catalyst users as well, to help with some of their horrendously slow attack speed and give Chongyun higher NA scalings.

With Shenhe in the game. It really helped his cryo DPS. Since no other character applies cryo like Chongyun can. And with this family of excorcist anyone can be a cryo DPS.
I just think his design was confused. His kit suggests that he can be a dps or sub DPS. Since he does little to support besides damage. But it's not even his fault cryo characters just so happen to be some of the best. He doesn't really have a means to compete. Still I think Ganyu as a sup DPS for Chongyun is a great combination. Bennett and Chongyun make a great melt combination, especially with c6 Bennett.
He's a cryo DPS, so he's a little more niche.

I knew someone that did like to use Chongyun. He's got some potential, but he's also easily forgotten.
Although he does work extremely well with Xingqiu for a freeze setup, or almost any hydro tbh.

jokes asides, can't wait for this one, I first thought he was one of the most useless but always called me with his atk speed pasive and then his cooldown c2, then tried him and did wonders for kaeya permafreeze with yelan and dont get me started in the todoroki diluc team is amazing, loving the series so far

As he’s my favorite character, he’s probably one of if not the most invested character I have in the game, even doing 100k per burst blade (total about 350k+ for the whole burst) with proper set up (oops not so subtle flex). It honestly breaks my heart when now nobody thinks about chongyun when they say national team because he really can be great with a proper build. But one thing that i do feel is weird about his kit is that his A4 passive, Rimechaser blade decreases cryo res of enemies, i just feel like its a weird time to decrease cryo res as the cryo infusions have already expired, you would only be able to use this resistance shred if you saved up your chongyun ult or other cryo characters’ skills; i find this awkward as his skill duration is too long considering that he is very quickswap oriented, i feel like it would have been useful if he would offer this resistance shred during the duration of the field although this could potentially be overpowered. in addition, while he could be a more dps oriented support for ayaka in a standard freeze team as a cryo flex, my experience pairing them together was sub-optimal at best as, while they individually can hit hard and ayaka can take advantage of the rimechaser blade passive, once again, chongyun’s skill duration AND cooldown are far too long which makes him an inefficient battery for ayaka, who needs her burst up often. I agree as well about his general absense from the game’s world, I hope he will have more hangouts! Been craving for a Shenhe-Chongyun interaction in game, hehe

Chongyun main here! You definitely layed solid points on this video. Personally I mainly use the boy model units which generally all work extremely well with him except someone like Xiao maybe cause he’s a dps and my Chong is dps built. Him, Bennett, Xingqiu and Kazuha (was sucrose) carried me through the entire game and I’ve played since launch. Tbh I never knew about Chongyun till I pulled him and was smitten to this day but I’ve always despised the fact that he’s so unappreciated, hated or left out. Justice for Yunyun he’s best boy 🥺

This is nothing but the sad truth, as a long time chongyun main i do love him with all my heart and have invested unreal ammounts of time in his build but he still underperforms my other dps's, one of them being yanfei another 4*, you did explain the whole problem of his underperformance really well, kee up the good work vars

I remember some people said to me that Chongyun is only a support character but the day I got him he became my main dps and people were shocked that I didn't made him as a support

up until this banner chongyun was the only 4 star i didn’t have… i adore him so much and now that i got him i can’t wait to build him!! even if he’s not game breaking, i love his character enough to put in the effort

He is a core member of the classic National Team but except for newer players no one uses the classic one anymore. Sucrose for an alternate but still true 4* National Team, Kazuha + Tartaglia for the International Team or Raiden for the Raiden National Team, every version better than the original.
Except for that he is rather niche as not many characters benefit from Cryo infusion and the normal attack speed increase and the CD decrease aren't strong enough to be a real support unit.

I have never once played Chongyun and Xingqiu in different teams - they have the exact same exp - and with Shenhe they're extra great. I'm just attached to this kid. I see him and I'm just like "What a charming young man!"

My main since the start until now, he's just my favourite. I'm glad i got to see some of his weak points and understand why he's not that popular, sure it stings a little when people don't know about his backstory or adorable personality but that's just how it is sometimes. thank you for this

It’s simply because he’s balanced and niche. Balanced is not good enough for most Genshin players because how scarce resources are, especially if you’re a balanced 4 star. 4* units gotta be broken for players to justify building them (Xiangling, Beidou, Sucrose, Bennett, Xingqiu). He’s also niche in a sense that he will disrupt some comp, so he wont be the universal cryo DPS/battery like Shenhe, Kaeya or Rosaria.

I rememeber when I first started playing the game, he was one of the very first characters I pulled from the gacha. I didn't really know anything about strategies, but I loved the cryo element and made him my main DPS for so many months... I've only switched him out when I decided to start building my Kaeya properly and since then I've been a proud Kaeya main.
But I remember I used to have so much fun playing Chongyun and I always thought that was interesting, because claymores are slow and I prefer faster weapons (spears, swords), but I still loved to have him on my team!
I'll probably build him again at some point.. I'd love a full cryo team if I manage to get Shenhe next time she's on a banner.

Chongyun has an excellent kit, I feel that he just doesn’t catch or keep peoples interest

Chongyun was the character that got me into paying genshin every day. before I got him I would only play with friends.

When I first started Genshin, I don't look up for best teams and such, I just enjoy spamming attacks until the enemies die so I don't know what the national team is. I even got to Inazuma without knowing who Chongyun is (I also didn't do the hang out events so I never even know he was there). He haven't appeared in any major events/story where he have some major involvements. In Liyue events, he's always just the guy that Xingqiu dragged.
Chongyun is such a sweet character, if HoYoverse will never make him do more dmg, at least give him more story exposure.

I love chongyun still to this day cause he carried me through the early AR's and he remains on my diluc team to this day cause he works really well with him. Plus I just love seeing those big ice swords slamming down on my enemies.

Chongyun was my very first character I randomly pulled very early and quickly became my main for so long and although I have ayaya I can’t completely abandon my little popsicle boy and continue to use him along with anything Shenhe :3

I love Chongyun, and I'm very thankful for Shenhe's existence for making him more viable. He sadly isn't in the best place right now, as a DPS or a support...

After watching the video I felt the bgm was kinda nostalgic, then I realized it was from octopath traveler and I guess it makes sense for Chongyun since it was used in a snowy region from that game
Also, great video as always. I also felt that Chongyun was on a tight spot since his playstyle mechanics hardly fit on many team comps, I play with him sometimes just to have a change from my usual team comps

I actually imagined if Chongyun say gave the same atk boost to characters as Bennett does but with his E, with cryo infusion on top, and Bennett's Q gave pyro infusion right at c0
We could have much more different teams with both of them, if freeze was needed, it would be Chongyun's time to shine and for vape teams there would be Bennett. Genshin meta would be Chongyun+Bennett melt teams tho XD

i adore Chonyung, while i have other dps i can use, he’s just special to me at this point. I sadly get why people don’t use him but if your curious about him and his personality i’d recommend checking him out! he’s fun to play and a really nice character!

Chongyun carried me for a very long time. Like from launch to ganyu's rerun he was my main dps. The whole reason I picked up shenhe was for him lol. He holds a very special place in my heart, and I still fall back on him more often than I should. But I guess like any character in this game; if you pour the effort into them they'll serve you well. I'm glad he got some time to shine, even if no one really plays him much anymore. Just means I can impress more people with mine's numbers when I dare bring him into co-op ;)

I have an issue with a lot of characters like Chongyun that have very little in terms of quest content. Like, Fischl had one limited time event for her, but if you never played that, you know next to nothing about her if you don't read a few books (assuming you don't roll her or view...artwork). Everyone should get attention, but some get more than others, sadly.

when I started playing the game my first impressions of him were confusion
on one hand I thought at the time that being able to infuse normal attacks was gonna be mega powerful but on the other it felt to me like his burst and skill were swapped
pretty much every other cryo character has a very simple elemental skill that's really just used for extra damage and energy generation, while the elemental burst isthe main part of their kit
in his case though, most of his playstyle revolves around his elemental skill while his burst is just bonus damage

I just got to friendship level ten with Chongyun yesterday!! It was a running joke that he had zero friendship exp for a long time until he was one of the last people I needed friendship level ten with, so in he went to my friendship team! He was at level 40 the whole time with some rando decent artifacts and a good weapon on him so he could do a lil damage for me during daily commissions. The last one left (not counting new characters) is Yanfei. My friendship team is currently Shinobu, Yelan, Yanfei, Albedo. (Albedo is there do help w damage and shields, he's been friendship level ten for a long time now)

I still use him and rosaria in the abyss against the hydro lectors. He is a great cryo applicator! ❤

Chongyun is a must-have for my Abyss, he's one of my favorite sub-DPS for real. I think he's underrated for how strong he is ;-; and I CANNOT imagine myself without him!

He’s my second pulled character, and benched until AR 40+ before i realized how fun it was to play him (currently trying to build him as support for Kaeya), his skill and burst animation are kinda satisfying to watch. I was pulling for Gorou, but C2’ed Chongyun instead literally few hours ago lol, still no Gorou unfortunately :(

I switch through all of my characters so each gets their time and I remember when I played as him and his water boy book nerd friend and Fischl I had a lot of time playing around :) I had all three as full constelations and kept adding different characters to the team and I do like him :) not the strongest but a very decent character nevertheless :) I like almost all my characters but he does look cute as well as a bonus :D

i mained chongyun until ar 54, i knew few people used him but he's just underrated, not bad. my artifacts are too trash for me to still main him but i have his cons which make him an amazing burst and skill support for ayaka. i still use him all the time he's really good!

as a Eula and Ayaka main, I've had c6 chongyun floating around my roster for a while and I've toyed around with using parts of both my main teams with him. I have to say, he actually plays really nicely. Even without leveling any of his skills, he's able to clear spiral abyss pretty comfortably. Currently leveling his skills as part of a bet, and I look forward to his performance once actually built

Most of the time I play Chongyun only for his elemental burst
cause he deals good damages
and his first constellation can helps bypassing the wooden shielded big hillichurls
Chongyun is a character that I really like
he is one of the cutest boy 🥰

Before getting Ayaka, Chongyun was what made it possible for me to 36* Abyss for the first time, he made dealing with the Abyss Heralds an easy task, I still very much like him as a character and play him from time to time but yeah he is usually benched.
