OK...how can anybody give this a "thumbs down" rating? All of these volcano videos are amazing... especially the ones where drones were flown near or over the fountains of fire!!!
Thank you for bringing this to the world! I am sure someone in your country is tracking the height / volume per eruption as well as periodicity of the same. That would provide some indication to the volume and movement of magma field below.
Note the ejected lava cools quickly once in the atmosphere and falls from the fountain as pieces of dark iron and magnesium-rich basaltic rock, in this case probably scoria (a very porous low density rock marked by numerous holes due to trapped volcanic gas bubbles as frothy lava rapidly solidifies).
I ordered a gift box from Reykjavik Grapevine & they include a piece of the new lava from Geldingadalur & the way you describe it is exactly how it looks! The holes, and also it has a green color to it. On Gutn Tog’s channel, he posts videos everyday which are absolutely excellent, & he shows an area of lava that is reddish (assuming copper?)
@@purplelava563 Red is due to oxidized iron in the basaltic rock. The green? Probably the mineral olivine - a green magnesium iron silicate with origins in the mantle from which this magma/lava originates. Crystalline peridotite is a common form in the olivine mineral group. It is the August gemstone and may be what is present in the vesicles of your sample.
You're right - I guess a group of the spectators should go and sit on the top of the cone! 🌋🤣 Not for too long though! Or maybe drive an off-roader up the side of it. The possibilities are endless.
Yes! Keep showing the daily top lava fountain of the day highlights for those of us who can't watch the volcano all day.

They probably have been paid to. But that's just my opinion.
Wow, spectacular lava geyser, thanks for sharing, be safe every one.
You know it’s really big when the top of it goes above the screen!
I appreciate these highlights.
Awesome footage.
So beautiful!
At many points, it's like new colors of yellow, orange and red are being created. Just beautiful.
Amazing!
Incredible! Thank you!

Impressed, lava poetry!

Wish there weren't just abruptly cut off minute clips from hundreds of hours of footage.
Does it mean that eruption won't stop ? But oh my that is stunning view
Woohoo looks like it is clearing the blockage
So many moss fires on the hills in the background.
300 meters is as high as the eiffel-tower in paris
An overlay image of a familiar landmark would help me to appreciate distance or scale.
Crazy, looks like mother nature gone mad!
150-200m tops. how long was the preceeding interval? i've been keeping a close eye on it, several times per day.
Acojonante
How do you measure the hight. Of the explosion, from the top of the mou;tain it created. Or ground level
How many meters high was that ?
its hard to tell the scale of it

I never thought the lava could reach such height. It
Is amanzing.
Yes i was watching it live at that exact time...
Tesco Jalapeno & Three Cheese Bloomer. Tastes awesome though.
Must be very disturbing for the neighborhood. No disclamers today ?
So where is all this leading to? Will there be more devastating eruptions yet to come? Any need to evacuate?
