    So interesting. I live in Oregon, in the shadows of two active volcanoes, or at least volcanoes who are just dozing. Prior to this I really didn’t understand when the geology professor talked about the huge amount of lava that makes up the Oregon Shield, created by volcanoes acting like this. Just bubbling up lava and letting it spread out like a flood, creating a surface thousands of feet thick.

      But this fissures would have been miles long, and pouring out lava in much, much greater quantities, over and over again... Those flood basalts in Oregon and Washington are a stack of 300+ flows from eruptions

      You've also got the riots volcano that erupts and burns stuff down at regular intervals. Unpredictable and dangerous!

    I've noticed quite a number of back wall collapses. That seems to be how the cone grows, as each collapse raises the height of the eruption pool.

    Wall reliquified from the constant bathing in fresh magma, that’s why it collapsed. Fissure is *too* active for the sides to cool and ‘properly’ harden, so this may keep happening.

      You can film with drones.
      But you shouldn't fly too low over volcanoes and lava flows.
      A few drones have already melted because of the heat :)
      Maybe there will be a drone cemetery soon :))

      Of course I have only sympathy for those killed or injured by volcanos each year. It seems the last death in Iceland was 1973, you guys must know how to respect them.
