    My grandma was so excited for my 16th birthday when we were in New York City and she found a Chanel bag being sold on the side of the road. The problem is is that many brands have OVER INFLATED prices that drive people to buy counterfeits. If we really want to stop the issue then companies should be offering their products at reasonable prices. It's legalized price gauging.

    • @peachykeen3582
      @peachykeen3582 8 개월 전

      "Reasonable prices"? It's called luxury for a reason. And you really don't have to buy luxury or wear cheap fakes if you can't afford it. There's always going to be more expensive brands and less expensive ones. Why don't you tell the housing market that their prices should be "reasonable" while you're at it? So that way everyone and their mother can own a nice home? Owning a home will no longer be desirable. Also, this is also not price gouging because nothing they are selling is a necessity. The bottom line is that counterfeits are ILLEGAL and UNETHICAL. 🤡

      The ´normal’ old quality are now luxury items, Vuitton was making suitcases ,Hermés saddles, Bentley cars , Rolex watched etc ...because they are either custom made or using high end products and are much more labor intensive than stuff made in distribution lines .
      People were buying stuff to last and to get fixed if any issue , certainly not to be thrown out .
      Take a basic product like a drill , except a pro who is going to buy a Hilti for 500$ when you can get one for 50 just to use it twice a year ? Before there was no option so you either have to buy the proper stuff and if you did not want to or could not afford it then you’d hire a pro who has the proper stuff. Another form of illicit trade is championed by the USA. This is when the original country of origin of a product family rules that a descriptive term is generic and cannot be trademarked but the USA ignores that ruling and grants a trademark which the US grantee then uses to block the export from the original country of origin. In some cases the USA trademark includes reference to the country of origin but the USA trademark application applies to products produced in a third country that do not meet the standards required in the original country of origin.

    When I was young, my step father invited me to a job call that was located at an abandoned store where a company needed workers to renovate and repurpose the building. This store was your average hole in the wall market with questionable products. I’ll never forget when I stepped in the back were BOXES and BOXES, of fake pokemon, yugioh, magic, and pog trading cards and items were just left, probably cause whoever bought them couldnt turn a profit so just ditch everything.

      The beauty of it is that it can't be copied. You can always enter your code and check the history of your product - where and when it was manufactured, where it was sold and etc.
      The thing is, if someone in China just makes a copy of a code - it doesn't matter. If you're say in the US and blockchain data says it's still in a store or a consumer got it in Europe - you know it's fake.

    Well its good and cheap if you buy counterfeit clothes, bags, watches, shoes etc as it helps poor people and all but not counterfeit cosmetics, meds, foods, electronics etc which can harm you personally. Also many big brands and company priced their products unusually high and exploit their labors just to make profit.

    • @JarethTheGoblinKingForever

      That's probably the most selfish and ignorant comment I've ever read. You don't seriously believe that buying counterfeits is good for "poor people" so long as it doesn't harm you personally, do you? They've connected the so-called "harmless" counterfeits, like bags and shoes, with organized crime groups and street gangs, none of which help the poor. They exploit the poor just as much as big corporations. Only difference is they cut out the middle man.

      It's still intellectual property theft to buy knockoffs of clothes and other fashion items, even if it's not dangerous to you personally. The artists who make the designs on some of these items only earn a fraction of royalties from the overall profit generated from the sale of the item, plus a lot of fast fashion clothing items have been discovered stealing designs from indie artists who make almost no money at all. It's really not fair to them that their designs get ripped off constantly, while customers continue to see IP theft as a victimless crime.

      @@Rewelsworld Or just, you know, not buy a designer hoodie at all... when you buy "for the factory worker", you're typically buying a black market item that was stolen. I agree, it's also horrendously silly to spend a high amount of money on a hoodie, but why not buy from thrift stores? It keeps down textile waste and gives money to local businesses when people buy second-hand clothes. Etsy has some great used hoodies with cool designs and logos on them, and they're sold by students and small businesses.
