(Most) zoos are fine. They take care of the animals, give them proper care, give them space, and a lot of other good things. A lot of zoos are even helping with repopulating dying species!

Like yeah hey orangutans, we know you’re going extinct from other human issues, but we’ll put a bandaid on it so your extinction process is delayed and you guys have to keep living in a world that can no longer sustain without human assistance.
Not to mention orangutans are in almost every American zoo. You think we just ship apes across the globe to rehab them and put them back in nature or to contribute to the $16 billion in taxable profits from the zoo industry in the USA each year.

This is one of the reasons I refuse to visit the zoo and any other place where animals are caged for our amusement. This is heartbreaking to watch.
I don’t know where you live, but most zoos in western country’s actually help endangered species. Visiting them would help the animals. Also, these modern zoos take good care of the animals and the animals have a fantastic quality of life.
Former Zoo employee, Zoos are great and often are rehabilitation centers. Zoos are NOT wildlife parks.
@@dawn3898 they should start sanctuaries instead of putting them in places that have been proven to negatively impact psychological well being. What about the animals that spend their life stressed out by humans always around them that are strangers and not trusted caregivers?
If they care so much about animals, they can figure out how to help animals without making them their key profit generator. Exploitation starts the second humans look to profit off zoos. It’s a $16 billion industry in the USA alone. Do you really think everyone in western zoo industry is in it for the animals with that kind of money on the line?

@@austindobbins8957 How is a sanctuary going to be different from a zoo? Both keep animals in captivity, but a sanctuary doesn’t breed. So a sanctuary would be worse since it doesn’t have breeding programs for endangered animals. Also, a lot of zoos are sanctuaries. For example, orphaned bear cubs often can’t be returned to the wild. And most of these animals don’t care about the visitors. During the lockdown, some animals even started to miss the visitors.
And yes, zoos make a lot of money, however the 16 billion dollar isn’t profit. That’s just how much the AZA-accredited zoos in the United States generate. A lot of zoos actually don’t make a lot of profit. Taking care of animals isn’t cheap. The meat for one tiger alone can cost up to 10 000 dollar a year. Besides that, most AZA-accredited zoos are non profit. The profit they make is used to protect the wild animals.
And yes, even though something generates a lot of money, doesn’t mean people are going to abuse it. We are talking about AZA-accredited zoos, the good zoos. These people have a passion for animals and want to make the world a better place. They don’t care about the money.
When we extend our empathy for exotic and domestic animals to farm animals we will see real progress

are orang utan shows still legal in thailand? other than the dog drowning pits, I think that's the worst part of this video. I remember visiting a zoo here in germany once, without knowing what animals they had, and there was a building for apes only. I felt like I stepped into a prison inside a zoo, it was really creepy. apes should be given legal personhood status and the situation of captive apes should be a form of guardianship, not ownership like objects. basically like britney spears. ;) yes, they should have lawyers.

More cruelty is inflicted on poor chickens in order to feed that dog. It’s a domestic animal and if we eat cows pigs and chickens than other domestic animals too. Anything less is narcissism
@@gertrudewest4535 i would have agreed with but if these people have chicken, they would have consume them first, instead of feeding the dogs, then consuming the feeded dogs. But i get what u mean, the overall treatment of animals all over, regardless of chicken, cows should be done more appropriately. That question is appropriate, but towards those conglomerate that sells in volume for profit like mcdonald, that has to produce in big volumes all over the world. On that point, i agree with everything that has been said. The thing is, we need independent character to correct these things. I can tell u that even a rich succesful person still would cast away their pet in our third world countries. As the story of dogs happens in south east asia, religion and inequality of living just make the treatment of these animals worsened by uneducated minds, no regulations by their elected govt. Poor cats, dogs, porcupines and other animals due to exotic food demands.

Thank you Vice for making a video on this topic.. the world needs to know the animal abuse they pay for in zoos and wildlife parks.. Veganism and compassionate living is the way to go.. even normal day to day products like cosmetics, shampoos etc are tested cruelly on animals.. all it takes is a little compassion from all of us

Also a side note on how Bernese pythons became a problem in the Everglades was because of a hurricane Andrew. What happened was hurricane Andrew destroyed a breeding facility, this released a lot of snakes into the wild. Want to know why the facility was there in the first place? The exotic pet trade. Can’t say I’m any better tho, I have two snakes and they are literally the loves of my life. Please be responsible pet owners and never release your pets in the wild. They become invasive or they don’t survive :(

It’s terrible the way the birds are treated in so called zoos.
This is why i try to avoid zoos,circus and aquariums. I love animals to death and to know what goes on for our own selfish amusement.

Asian countries are really the worst with animal abuse its so sad ! I was in africa and even the poor people feed the dogs . And take care of animals . They should stop this animal abuse !! this is HORRIBLE

So the question is not ''should we stop showing these photo's, video's and info about the immense injustice, cruelty, forceful exploitation and raping, the immense pollution, making it all possible for ever more increasingly dangerous ill making bacteria and viruses to emerge, the devastating heavily resource consuming and killing that's going on in the fish, meat and dairy industry, but rather when can we stop ?!!, because in my mind we can only stop if this does not any longer exist !''

I am a subscriber to a very popular channel, with 2 otters, (Asian lady and man) I won't name the channel.. However, I think I will cancel my subscription. I've never seen any abuse, with either them, and they both seem happy and healthy. We believe, what we want to believe, I guess.
