  • The fight to end modern slavery has become a celebrated cause, championed by celebrities and governments. But this fight isn't completely what it seems.
While governments have pledged millions to tackle modern slavery, how genuine are these attempts, and is the term being used to justify tough immigration policies?
This is how governments are misleading us about their fight against modern slavery.

Usually the conditions of these workers are very much hidden from governement, and get imported as so called immigrant workers with good conditions, atleast thats how it looks on paper. But in reality things are very different, look at the tomato picking scene in italy, or the north korean or chinese workforces spread around the entire world, that are stuck in camps and get paid zero next to nothing, and always with a threatening motivation to keep them going, either a potential passport or their families back at home which are reliant on them actually surviving, on contract it says one countrry has a deal with another with completely valid contracts, but in reality the country thats sending them is keeping 95% of the earnings. Thats very hard for governments to track and im sure there is some bribery going on in critical locations to keep it from coming to peoples attention. As long as we have a free market in a world with inequality, this will happen, there will always be people that value profit over anything else if we continue in a money driven society

You cannot imagine the pressure on these politicians as well. The solution to this problem is not relaxed immigration policies. What if everyone wants to move to the Europe or to America? Will that solve or exacerbate the problem? The governments in their countries need to increase their standard of living such that they don’t need to move to other countries. Having said that there is a need for people to have compassion and have a united front to end human slavery.

Let’s be frank. Europe and the US have extremely benefited from the exploitation of citizens from other countries. • @diceyDealer

Let's ask WHY so many try to come to Europe or the US. Is it because western countries have spend decades undermining third word countries economies? Allowing western businesses to monopolize infrastructure? A failed drug war that lifted cartels into power? Overthrowing democratically elected governments in the pursuit of profit until people are so desperate they will willingly climb into refrigerator truck and cargo containers to try to escape the horrific conditions in their home countries. Just look at the conditions refugees live in in migrant camps. How bad must it have been at home that they would choose that instead? Corporate and government greed is the root of all of this evil.

Humans aren't' eusocial. We may act like it sometimes but its very loose. Unlike ants, bees, and wasps whereas they all have leaders and all the other members are literally meant to serve them and ensure the survival of there colonies until they die and thats it. They're like cells in an organism. They like robots. But for us humans its ultimately one man for himself. We as a species physiologically geared to be self interested. Which obviously sometimes changes when a member of our kind has children. Anyway thats why each human has a goal for themselves. Yes-some of us do look after others and stuff but ultimately it's for they're own gain as far as money because they need it to live. Why?-because they wanna live and be happy. Thats what they care about.

@@theintrovertedaspie9095hey bro? No, no we aren't by nature at all. we literally evolved because we took care of each other, we literally have records of a prehistoric disabled woman who died with CAVITIES, A mother shields her child. in a lot of societies when human beings were developed the idea of a traditional family did not exist, children were raise collectively by a community. Biology is an important connection but it's not the only one, it's some thing that we see across with cross species and orphan animals being raised by fosters of the same kind. Idk dude if you somehow have never had the experience of loving someone like family who isn't biological but it's like,,, no different. If you raise a child from birth, you will love that child as your own. I much rather live in a world where i have less, so everyone has more. Human nature is filled with stories of beautiful love and support, why did people make vaccine patents free? Why did the Quakers risk imprisonment to help the underground railroad-
We are collective, Human beings literally go fucking INSANE when we are alone. We need people, pre all this we lived in collective societies. Why do you think people latch so hard onto group identies? because everyone is looking for that feeling of belonging. Negative or positive. Cults are another proof of this, their targets are often those who are struggling, cult recruitment involves lovebombing and a feeling of belonging.
Human beings needs each other, but in the past it was the lack of land, food, supplies. our wars and violence still are the difference is now, with how developed we are we don't need to be acting how we are. But greed is powerful. especially with how important we have made money and how the rich do not see the poor as people, and for the most part those part are bipoc because of the history of slavery, which changed to being racial for profit. After all, it's cheaper to make a group of humans non humans then to treat them like humans in the first place.
Rn if you told me if I died then slavery world wide would end I would do it in a heartbeat, i think any reasonable person would.
also sorry this comment is just so bad i'm on a roll- Humans beings developed because of hunting and gathering, that can't be done alone. You hunt in groups, you harvest together. We are on one level individuals of course, but to exist you do so in harmony. We can't pretend human beings aren't animals but we can't pretend we have no humanity. We are animals that got smart enough to solve every problem, but invented reasons to be greedy enough to make sure it never happens. I'm begging you to do real research into human history, not the wars, not land, not money, not fame and riches but people. Maybe because i got experiences of what it's like when everyone farms, eats, plays, works together for the greater good all while protecting nature and all coming from different backgrounds and nobody being related for 7 years i know it's possible and when you don't experience someone you can't imagine a world with it but bro, human beings are amazing and beautiful.

I understand this video brings to attention the failure of immigration/foreign policies of some Western governments but to act like the problem is solvable by simply letting everyone in and stopping the flow of guns is a massive over simplification. These are HARD problems to solve that involve so many moving parts that a few actors alone simply can't change the whole system no matter if they are wealthy countries. This doesn't mean wealthy countries can't do their part but I doubt even then it would be enough. We need a multifaceted approach that involves creating sustainable infrastructure and wealth in poorer countries

All sides lack the will and knowlegde and humbleness to really tackle all issues facing humanity. It is easy for a reporter in her comfy home to be indignated and it is easy to point fingers to governments on the other hand governments have a general 4 year view awaiting the next election to keep their well paid seats. It is heart rending to see people suffering and even dying but there is nothing new under the sun. 9:43 Putting all responsibility on consumers is going to have to reach a breaking point. 1) Consumers are not the only ones making decisions that lead to bad outcomes, and all who make choices must be held responsible for the consequences of their choices. 2) This includes decisions that are purely supply side and not under direct control of the consumer, so letting companies continually get a free ride (by way of lobbyists) cannot stand. 3) The divide exists to disempower regular folk so that those with the real power can get their way. 4) As a form of mass mind control, modern marketing sucks away much of consumer's autonomy, and that needs to be dealt with as well (put down that damn smart phone). 5) Many of the countries that these people flee from are impoverished because of politicians bought by the global banking industrial complex that hands their economies over to the international corporations that run them. 6) The major World powers have to cave to the global banking industrial complex. I don’t think anyone has a plan. Simply western society has more than needed so there will is room for immigrants but we also need to look at ways to make room for the rest “make jobs/housing/food/water” Im honestly not sure the planet can take the industrial load that costs to produce all the things we have on a equal level for immigrants. If there was complete wealth equality and everyone lived in the USA they would have to live of $11,000 a year. A big improvement for most people on the planet but a big downgrade for well off westerners.

The fact that people are leaving dangerous areas means that not everyone is nice everywhere. I honestly can’t understand how not everyone understands this. Sure let people in but vet them, also anyone that gets caught committing vìolent crìme should definitely be sent back (which doesn’t happen, hardly anyone granted asylum is sent back no matter what terrible things they have done and continue to do).
Funny how bringing this up, you instantly get labeled and they completely dismiss this is an issue.
