I saw a Beetle based 246 Dino kit car once and the owner actually built it himself - he learned as he went and although it was rough to say the least he was proud of his effort but admitted that it was built in a shed with basic tools !
I didn't call him out as he wasn't in any way pretentious and showed us all round his creation- He said he was just happy to have it roadworthy and some stuff he could have done better !

In 1995-ish I worked for a guy who lent money on, and bought and sold used cars. I guy came in with a "Ferrari" and was lent some money on the car. My boss started getting a bad feeling about it, especially since the engine was in the front. He finally ran a VIN check on the vehicle and it came back as a firebird. He ended up taking possession of the car and tried to get it registered. However, the people at the DMV said that it had been so modified that it had to now be registered as a Ferrari.
I've got to be honest, I'd not lie about having a fake kit car but I wouldn't want to speak to real owners because most would be on a different wavelength & slag it off.

I was in Ocean City MD during the big car show at the Inlet. There was a guy with a Ferrari selling raffle tickets. My senior year of high school I bought a Fiero with bad motor to fix for shop class. I asked if it was a Fiero and he said no. So I asked why he would swap the whole Pontiac interior into a Ferrari. As that got folks attention, he suddenly said, "oh yeah, it's a kit, I misunderstood what you were asking".
He said the tickets were $5. I bought one for the hell of it. Later I noticed that the ticket had $20 printed on it, and the drawing date had already passed. Lol

I would have kept this one to myself. You did all of that, then proceeded to wait one hour 30 mins outside a restaurant in a borrowed car just to tell a random clown "I told you so". Pathetic.
It's actually sad someone would go to this much effort to be so douchey. Clearly the owner loves his car yet this guy goes out of his way to make another person feel bad, laugh at their expense and brags throughout the video about how much money he has. And like you said, borrow someone else's car to drive over to be a jerk to some stranger. So who again is pathetic in this video?

If only the rest of the world had so much money that their time means nothing and they can waste it making the peons feel bad about themselves. well... you're right, except this guy did seem to be scamming, by lying to everyone esp using it as a status symbol and as a way to impress girls, he is basically scamming in an indirect way. The lies make his reputation and success seem much higher than they are, which besides being pathetic, is also incredibly damaging to everyone who believes his lies.
