That screamer firing order is the best. I wish there was a v4 on the market that sounded like that.
That's screamer sounds incredible. I would love to hear that sound in Moto GP again one day
Same. I miss the days of even firing engines in motogp. I’d also love to see a v4 road bike that has a screamer firing order
Yes!!
A new VR video!
What a great subject, too. The Apollo was awesome- ahead of it's time, certainly ahead of tire technology. A big-ass Ducati cruiser/police bike is still a cool idea, and now that they have a V4, a modern day Apollo would be righteous.
I was fortunate enough to be about 20 feet way from a DesmosedicI RR when the engine was started up. Holy sh*t.
It was the loudest engine I've ever heard on a public road. It shook the ground.
I'm a bit surprised that more motorcycle manufacturers haven't embraced the V4 configuration.
Aprilia has their V4, Honda are known for their V4s (though for a sportbike it would cost bit more than the CBR), Yamaha has the V-max since the 80s... It's a bit expensive but other manufacturers know how to build these engines
I have a good knowledge of mechanics and engines but your explanations and the documents you present in your videos always teach me something. Today, it was the Ducati apollo 👍🏻
Aprilia v4 next, the best sounding V4 ever made
Ducati panigale really hit it on the mark with this bike. It street legal superbike. It on my bucket list for sure!
Great video as always !
The desmo stradale is probably my favorite engine. I can't wait for V4R reviews to drop since I can't afford one 😂
I wonder why motorcycles haven't adopted direct injection, well at least on the higher end of the market.
Which one would you prefer between the Ducati Panigale V4R 2023 and BMW M1000RR 2023??
@@imtanny9145 I like them both, but I'd take the V4R
Great insight. One correction though. I have the 2019 V4 panigale. It revs to 14k (soft limiter) in the lower gears and in 5th and 6th to 15,500 and 16,000 respectively, leading to a gps proven 194.7 mph at a runway event. All the best. John
It should run faster than that! Nice bike though. ( I ran one at 200+ but no GPS)
@@Terraceview If it wasn't GPS you didn't go 200+ and I KNOW you didn't.
Ducatis are art man
Great video. You should've used my sound clip with the CS Racing exhaust though, it's one of the best sound clips out there!
Thanks for another information rich bike video!!!!
Thanks. Very interesting.
Viva Italia. What a machine and makes me proud to be Italian.
Greetings from South Africa and keep up the good work👍🏽
Perfect video.
As always a great video of VisioRacer. I imagine what if a Ducati V8 on a small car.
Great videos as always, I always look forward to them, keep up the great work. I've been attracted to Ducatti ever since I saw a 996 on a music video in high school.
I'd get either a 996 and make it into a naked bike or a Multistrada V2.
@bobhill3941 - no need to “make” a naked 996. Ever hear of the Ducati Monster S4R?
@@ghostwrench2292 No, I didn't I'll check it out. Thanks
I would get a Multistrada, with as low miles as possible. Ducatis are very expensive to keep maintenance wise
@@vicenterr7 Yes they are, that's why I was going for the model without the Desmodromic valvetrain.
Fantastic video! They make no sense but I would love a Ducati someday....
Super Bro. ! Thanks
Perhaps they could do a road going super-mono version, have a parallel twin with twin dummy weights for balancing.
but then it's not a supermono anymore...
MOTOGP reliability and service intervals too...
I’m not sure what you’re expecting from a 1L engine making 240hp.
@@damiendoisher7812 He obviously wants it to last 200.000 km like his friends 90hp 1.6l cruiser.
@@damiendoisher7812 well the mercedes m139 makes 238hp/L, and that is a car engine with normal service intervalls
@@laurean5998 it’s running 13:1 compression and turning 15k rpm’s? You can’t even compare the two they different
@@laurean5998 and no it’s 200hp per liter. This engine makes more hp per liter.
The Husqvarna Nuda 900R has 13:1 compression ratio and 10kg or 100Nm linear torque. Too sad that it couldn't rev much higher to get some extra hp, but this monster torque even from the low revs is rewarding. I can't imagine any city bike that can be better than this.
It's KTM
@@alexstromberg7696 Then why people sell them after 1 year max of ownership?
@@gt4654 i meant Husqvarna and KTM is the same
@@alexstromberg7696 wrong. Nuda used a reworked Rotax 800 cc parallel twin (which can be found in BMW 800R or GS).
@@alexstromberg7696 Oh, come on my friend! This bike is known for being a BMW one. It was one produced under the years that BMW had ownership of Husqvarna and they really tried to resurrect the brand. They produced 3 street bikes and these were the first Husqvarna street bikes since a long time ago. The Nuda especially was heavily modified from the F800, including heavy changes in the engine, and it sported some very very expensive components, like the top of the line for the period Brembo racing calipers and a Ohlins back shock.... I still can find spare parts for my Nuda from the BMW catalogue and they need very low maintenance....
I don't know how to say it but I will just put it plain as toast with peanut butter and a quart of whole milk. You do your homework and then every time put out content that is not only with historical value but today's technology and facts in plain sight and common language for the average person who doesn't know about these things to understand, connect with , and enjoy watching while learning everything you need to know about the subject and then some on top of it. Thanks again for your hard work, due diligence, and fact filled information and tech explanation of today's machine along with the history of the generations before and the improvement made to them to get it where it is today. Good morning, God bless and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Sunday today. From North of Pittsburgh, Pa USA. Enjoyable and facts as always, Thanks again.
Thank you very much, John! Have a great day
You are spot on John Elliott
Amazing
That screamer timed engine sounded bonkers
Good video to follow, however Honda did that over 20 years ago on SP2/RC51 with Superbike Support from HRC at $10K to $20K based on options.
Any plans to make a video on the Volvo T5 engines?
I think 2 of these Ducati motors or put in one of those micro jet boats would be friggin hectic! 460hp V8 jetboat (obviously sound isn't going to be that of a V8 unless special headers are made? But very very compact motors and with the ability to share cooling system and other things would make for a crazy fun machine? Or just buy one bike?
Ducati, while making the Superquadro Mono: now what if we make it small enough to fit in a Ninja 250
Make vedio on Volkswagen ea888 2.0tdi engine
❤ Love V4's but I'm inlove with my I-4
NR + RC45/46 + RC211V + RC212V 2007, it turns out that it is the future motor design (now)
I bet Ducati quit trying oval pistons because they couldn't get it to seal (piston rings & oval bore) as well as Honda.
A so-called L-twin is just a 90-degree V twin with the engine rotated. Its a V twin.
It looks like an L, hence the name....
My dream is to one day find a way to put two of these together in a single-block configuration, hook them up to a sequential trans-axle and throw them in the middle (back seats) of a Renault 12 shell. Then, I can die happy :|
So this engine is no longer a desmo engine?? Also the crank angles aren’t they the same as the Yamaha crossplane crank?
To be clear - the Panigale engine is a desmodromic valve layout, however, not the Multistrada and Diavel engine. The Yamaha cross-plane has a different timing and is more similar to the Aprilia V4 (not exactly, because that's a 65° V-4, but with a 90° V-4, it would be practically identical and hence the sound is very close). This Wikipedia article is very helpful with understanding the different firing orders of these and many other engines.

Ducati 🥰
I put an XL600RM motor on a scale once, I believe it was around 70kg. It's pretty nuts ducati made a 4 cylinder engine lighter than a single.
Also, I am renovating a BMC A series engine, which weighs nearly 150kg for motor, gearbox, etc - and makes 65hp
I wonder if bike companies will get into freevalve engine technology
Ducati V4
Volvo iron knight engine please
Why did Ducati use 1103cc, instead of 1000cc?
Why not
@@VisioRacer I asked a specific question. Jeez
@@drsrsv8884And I answered you. It is a production engine, they don't need to reason it. There are no displacement regulations that they would need to follow. The 1,103 cc has higher torque, it is certainly beneficial
@@VisioRacer Thank You, that's a real answer.
Would've been nice if 1000cc was the default, so the poors(us) could afford a Ducati liter bike, for racing.
Are you telling me that a Ducati really is a Harley with double pistons
Not really because Harleys are 45° V-twins
✋🏼🇦🇺👍🏼
the KTM 1290 superduke has a CR of 13.6:1
no bike has a CR of more than 13.6 : 1
except Panigale V4
I wish they'd put the V4 into a Monster. The street fighter is too ugly. One of the manufacturers is going to have to lead the way in making naked bikes naked again. They've all got dumb stuff like fairings, wings and fake air scoops now.
Best Comment Ever
all brand motogp engines have pneumatic valves... this motor is not even close.
I have no Problem with Ductai Motor V4
But in World Super bikes , it the best
Motor , if your running all the Extras
On it to get that performance out
Of it , but I am sick of Kawasaki inline
4 being Handicapped because Ductai
Had not won for 10 Years , at last
Ductai have got together , and won
But for the last 6 Years Kawasaki
Have been have Heavy Restrictions
6 Years ago , they were reving the
Kawasaki to 15,500 Rpm , they killed
The Ductai twins , and it really upset
Ductai when the V4 with a 1500 Rpm
Advantage still lost to Rea ( not his
Fault the Ductai rider keeped falling
Of ) so when Ductai Finally one , there
Still a 800RPM Difference , of course Ductai
Should win !!! And now they give a
250 Rpm back to Rea , ( after the dog
Bolted 120 points in front ) next
Year give the bikes same Rev Ranges
And Kawasaki finger arms rockers,
Let see Real Raceing , I loved to be a
Championship Decided by a point
Like 2010 and yes Aprilia beat my
Beloved Kawasaki , I can handle that.
Not this crap !!!!
I have never liked ducatis, the dry clutch always sounds like something is broken on them.
Never did like the V-twins. That dry clutch always sounded like something was broken and the engine sounded like a lawnmower at redline. I'm sure if I rode one it would be really nice though.
Мне нравятся мотоциклы, но мотоциклистов терпеть не могу))
Second
The gp03 wasn’t road legal and with a race exhaust the v4 can hit 235 bhp the difference lies with chasis brakes susp weight, still can’t wait for delivery on a used panigale V4 🤪
Instead of buying a Ducati or Aprilia I think people should buy a Yamaha R1M and build it to their liking since Yamaha produces almost 90% of the sound of Ducati And Aprilia and sometimes Yamaha sounds even better with those pops and bangs . Reliability of Yamaha is way way better thn any European on American bike + the maintenance cost is also very low . Yamaha is best 1000cc bike ever made because of it's Crossplane engine its one of the most legendary non V engine bike ever made.
