Tbh this cameo from Ming-Na was my favorite part of the movie.

Water Me Loan She almost had a larger role in the movie, but her schedule was busy because of Agents of SHIELD (which eventually paid off. It's a great show).
When I saw her cameo, I cried. I loved it so much cuz it basically symbolizes the passing of the touch to the next generation Mulan.
Oh, I loved seeing Ming-Na Wen there too. It was a much more meaningful part for her than the mother-in-law she was originally offered to play, and Rosalind Chao, who knows her from The Joy Luck Club, took that part because Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD meant Ming-Na Wen could not show up on the set of the live-action remake for more than one or two days. I think Ming-Na Wen's life and acting career are better for it, partly because she does not want to see how Yifei Liu's performance and the directing of it lost all of the charm, relatability and emotion of her original Mulan character, but mostly because Agents of SHIELD gave her something else much better in return: the chance of a lifetime to work with her Descendants daughter actress Dianne Doan for the last seven episodes!🤩 Yifei Liu is an actress known for her lack of emotion, which made her version of Mulan less entertaining to watch than Ming-Na Wen's voice and character animations for the earlier animated Mulan, so I think Ming-Na Wen liked working with Dianne Doan for two months a lot more than she liked working with Yifei Liu for two days. I believe in that probability because Dianne Doan, in her performance of Fa Lonnie for two live-action Descendants movies and the online series of School of Secrets shorts, and reprising Lonnie's voice in the animated Wicked World shorts, was much truer to the legacy of Disney's animated Mulan film and animated Fa Mulan character than Yifei Liu in the live-action remake of Mulan when she played Hua Mulan. My jaw just dropped the first time seeing Ming-na Wen's cameo in this movie. I remember when I watched it with my mom I said, "Sound familiar?" (I mainly recognized her from Agents of SHIELD and then later found out she did the original voice, so that moment in this new movie was way cool)
My AoS and Disney obsessed self popped off too. It was amazing and I was yelling it to the heavens

Best part of the new Mulan was seeing Ming-Na make the cameo. And it's lovely to see cast and crew honoring her on set.

She took out all the important scenes that has important message which made the animated version very memorable, classic and inspiring for young generation who also like Mulan. All she did is to focus on Chi, Chi, and Chi. Magic, Magic, Magic which is really not necessary at all at Mulan’s story.

@@jessieastorga5315 (sigh) This is why Ming-Na Wen, when she looks back on how the Mulan live-action remake t urned out, should be happy that Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD, which also included Dianne Doan in the entire second half of it, saved her from spending a longer period of time on the live-action remake of her animated film when Yifei Liu gave a very boring performance of Hua Mulan.

I think Agents of SHIELD really did Ming-Na Wen a favor by keeping her away from having a bigger part in the live-action remake as the mother-in-law, and Rosalind Chao also did Ming-Na Wen a favor by taking that part in her place. Plus, the second half of the seventh and final season of Agents of SHIELD gave Ming-Na Wen a *much* better way to relive her Mulan years than anything the live-action remake could have done for her. It blessed her with the golden opportunity to work with the actress who played her Descendants daughter, Dianne Doan! March 2, 2023, 3:04pm
Can you imagine how lucky Ming-Na Wen must be, to get to meet not just one, but TWO Descendants stars in Agents of SHIELD? First Dove Cameron (Mal) was in Season 5, and now Dianne Doan (Lonnie) gets to be in Season 7!

The original Disney Mulan movie where Mulan was voiced by Ming-Na Wen has the superior storyline, which shows Mulan's character development from unskilled and unsure little girl to skilled and confident woman. The live-action Mulan character had super kung-fu powers from the start and was told by her family to subdue them, only to unleashed her super kung-fu powers after joining the military. No character development at all for live-action Mulan.

@@babyyoda4477 Well, pretty much nothing is received well now. People have been complaining about previous Disney live action adaptations, and yet they all performed well. Unfortunately, no studio will release a potential sure hit nowadays like "Black Widow" so that we could see whether it's even possible to get a decent box office. But I guess it's obvious it's not. So, no point in comparing it to the other years. It's not like "Tenet" would've grossed this little.

Do you think Disney made the right decision to release live action Mulan on Disney Plus? What if live action Mulan did went in to theaters? And is there anything that could have save live action Mulan for being in theaters? If Disney is planning on putting live action Mulan in theaters I believe one or two things could happen. First Disney could have waited until the coronavirus pandemic is over. Second they could have released this movie in theaters by 2021. When movie theaters in the USA open again after the new year of 2021 do you think live action Mulan will get a theatrical revival?

The format of this video is all over the place. It jumps from full screen to side bars to huge horizontal bars and back and forth. It's completely unwatchable and suggests utter unprofessionalism of the studio in video-editing. How are you not even ashamed to put out publicly something like this.

I never watched the original so I quite enjoyed it for what it is. A fairy tale. And just like a lot of other movies out there, it had problems with the plot. Still, not a bad movie to me, although I won't be rewatching it. Good actors, nice music, some great views and heartfelt moments in there.

If they like the original (animated version) too much to risk getting disappointed, they should stick to the original. This version will get its fans, however few or many that will be. I mean, there are half a dozen films about Mulan by now. Surely, you don't have to love all of them and should be able to find at least one you prefer.

This was was very good. The only part I can say I didn’t like was that part in the beginning with the little girl. That was a bit cheesy. But other than that, I enjoyed this one too.
