For a while we've had adventure, whimsical magic, space battles, and a lot of superheroes, so it's nice to see that Disney is going back to the spookier side of things.
The curtains closing the doors and windows away into nothing is honestly a really cool scary concept, it's so unfortunate that the execution looks pretty bad. I really hope against all experience that they'll give the CGI teams the time and budget to polish this stuff.
The fact they added the actual characters, like the ghost host (possibly, we've only seen him in a few paintings.) and the hatbox ghost, and even the bride, Constance! I'm really freaking excited oh my God.
Ok but “house without windows” for the bg song is so incredibly perfect !! Its epic and theatrical in the best way, especially the high note with the ghost playing the organ ❤❤❤
Same, I had zero faith because of the writer involved (she wrote Ghostbusters: Answer the Call), but watching it in action…. HOLY!!! This is chock full of references to the ride, and a lot more than the previous iteration had, this looks very promising especially since Constance will legit be an axe wielding maniac like in the ride.
Yeah, I've been cautious about it since they parted with del Toro, but I still hoped it would be good. This trailer is promising though, so I'm pretty happy.

I doubt they'd have shown the villain so clearly in the trailer. Plus Disney currently love a surprise villain (Hans, King candy, Te Fiti, Ernesto de la cruz, Dawn Bel weather, Lightyear) I could be wrong tho and you could be right and if you are then awesome, I hope she's really creepy and scary :D

See if Disney stuck to stuff like this with their live action films, most people wouldn’t be complaining. This actually looks good, surprisingly funny, and actually frightening in some scenes which perfectly fit the haunted mansion.

Exactly. With the old movie, they just had completely different looking sets and characters from the ride, with little hints and references at the ride just so they could say it was a Haunted Mansion movie. But this one full on looks like the ride put directly into a movie! I cannot wait!!

I’m keeping an optimistic mind with this film, although I’m a little saddened that Disney opted not using Guillermo del Toro’s script for the final film, the new Haunted Mansion film when compared to the 2003 version starring Eddie Murphy is going to be more frightening and capturing the tone and spirit of the original ride so very excited on seeing this in July.

Eventually in 2020, Disney abandoned Del Toro’s script saying it was "too scary" for family audiences, but from the trailer that we saw for this Haunted Mansion film it actually is leaning to be more scary similar to Del Toro’s original version.
@@marissat7150 Del Toro, while being a dark director most of the time, does also know how to make things lighter when it need to be. For instance, while it was very dark, Pinocchio could have been WAY darker considering its origins, and also he made the Hellboy fims PG-13, despite the fact that the comics could have very easily lead to an R rating. And likewise, Disney knows how to go dark. Hell, another franchise based on a theme park attraction, Pirates of the Carribean, goes wildly dark, sometimes I would say it goes a bit too far(have ya seen the opening of Pirates 3?).

Ok……this actually looks a lot better than I thought it would…I was preparing myself for this to be completely dumb with a cheesy plot that would possibly not do well but….after seeing the trailer it honestly doesn’t look that bad at all. Glad I was proven wrong. Definitely looking forward to watching this and it definitely has that horror vibe that we were all hoping it would have. Nice to see Disney having a bit of a darker tone for this movie. Can’t wait to watch it
I'm glad it seems that it's just a family got the mansion and needs help getting rid of ghosts. You have some humor but the horror is in line with the real ride. The bride I'm guessing will be the main villain

Yeah for all the blunders disney has done recently this seems pretty good and disenchanted was good too but yeah a theatrical release would've saved them a bit considering how poor lightyear and especially strange world did. That's even if the agenda pushing wasn't in those movies but disenchanted didn't have any agenda moments and would've done better than the other 2 I mentioned with everyone
Finally! This movie has been in production for so long! It’s been in production hell for the longest time and it’s cycled through directors so many times. I’m glad it’s finally being made. I know most people hate the Eddie Murphy movie but I personally liked it but maybe that’s the nostalgia talking but I’m really looking forward to this movie.
Yeah it's obviously going to have the odd not so funny joke, but I actually quite like how creepy they're going with the visuals. The trippy shots of windows disappearing and the endless corridor, combined with the unique combination of actors (great seeing DeVito laughing his head off) have me really interested to see how weird they're going to take it.
He had already passed when most of the work on the ride itself was done. Pirates was the last ride he had a hand in developing. There is a lot of interesting things about how the folks who worked on it approached it without him, especially if it should be a purely scary attraction or a lighter tone.
Walt had a huge part in cultivating the aura of what the Mansion would become, as it sat as an unused show building for about a decade (~1961-1969) In the 5 years it was in development when Walt was still alive, he vetoed many concepts and gags, and perpetuated many sight gags developed by Marc Davis and Rolly Crump. He vetoed many storylines personally, and was depicted many times on film surrounded by Imagineers and future HM gags.
Looks better than I thought but I really want to see a bit of the backstory of how the mansion and characters came to be versus another group of people coming to clear the mansion of entities.
I love the part where Tyler Durden says “Reject the basic assumptions of civilization, especially the importance of material possessions.” So stunning...so brave.
Ok for once in a long time, I’m actually excited to see something that Disney made. This definitely has a good dark vibe to it, but not being TOO scary for the children. It should be entertaining.

I loved the practical effects of the skeletons in the original movie. Rick baker worked on the costumes, so it would be great if they asked him to return to the remake. Not sure how I feel about this movie. It doesn't feel old enough for a remake, which is just showing my age unfortunatley. I really love that Devito is in this movie though.
It's not really a remake. It's more of a different adaptation of the attraction with new characters and a new story. And if the Eddie Murphy movie doesn't feel old enough... it was twenty years ago. We have gone through three live-action Spider-Men in the last two decades. So this is nothing.
This goes insanely hard. First trailer put out by Disney in 5+ years to actually grab my attention given it actually has an interesting creative flair.

I was worried it would be too silly, though I thought the Del Toro's may have gone too scary. This looks like the perfect mix, just like the ride was balanced between.
OMG OMG OMG, IT IS LITERALLY THE RIDE IN MOVIE FORM!! The moving busts, the hallway, the ballroom, MADAM LEOTA, HATBOX GHOST, CONSTANCE HATCHAWAY!!! I am crying real tears. This was my very first ride ever at Disneyland last year and it is all so fresh in my mind and this movie looks amazing!!! Was that a Doom Buggy at the beginning?
I rode this the day after opening day (the old original hatbox ghost hadn't been removed yet) and I know how you feel. This is my favorite ride in the park. My home is even decked out in HM. I am really looking forward to this.
This is the most excited for a disney movie Ive been in a minute. The set and character design reminds me of the ride and I havent ridden it in over 20 years. Its amazing. The eddie murphy one was okay and understandably a more kid centric movie but I do want more of the scary. Especially if kids can handle the ride they should be able to handle a movie of the same tone.
This blows the 2003 version out of the water by miles!! It has elements of the ride and they built on it and added more “horror.” Im so happy with this trailer 🥰

Owen Wilson and Danny Devito are probably the only reason why I will be willing to watch this movie. Edit: I just learned Jamie Lee Curtis and Winona Ryder will also be in the movie too! Legendaries all around. Also just learned that the legendary Guillermo del Toro was originally working on this film as writer and producer but Disney scrapped his work because it was “too scary”. Imagine the ticket sales Disney could of had if they kept del Toro on the project.
I hope they at least do "Grim Grinning Ghosts". Maybe they ought to add archival footage of the voice of Thurl Ravenscroft in certain scenes; his bass voice was LEGENDARY.
It's super obscure Haunted Mansion trivia but I feel like this might be a good time to include the graveyard la-da singer that disappeared from the ride decades ago (it still exists in Tokyo though). Maybe in the credits if they play Grim Grinning Ghosts there, or tucked away during some scene in the film?
The original haunted mansion from Disney was a underrated masterpiece. The mansion itself, the soundtrack, the tragic love story. I'm happy that after years of waiting now it's really gonna happen. Sadly Guillermo Del Torro is not on board as they planed. This is a darker version for adults and the 'older' fangroup 🎃. But the original was perfect so my expectations are very high. I wish they would make a Haunted Mansion movie that is actually a serious one, not know just a comedy but a real story about the tragedy that happened at the mansion.
Ok……this actually looks a lot better than I thought it would…I was preparing myself for this to be completely dumb with a cheesy plot that would possibly not do well but….after seeing the trailer it honestly doesn’t look that bad at all. Glad I was proven wrong. Definitely looking forward to watching this and it definitely has that horror vibe that we were all hoping it would have. Nice to see Disney having a bit of a darker tone for this movie. Can’t wait to watch it
I'm glad it seems that it's just a family got the mansion and needs help getting rid of ghosts. You have some humor but the horror is in line with the real ride. The bride I'm guessing will be the main villain

Aww, this looks like fun! So many callbacks to the ride, the organist, the stretching room, the paintings... Love it! Looks like they took some inspiration from Ghosts, which isn't a bad thing either.

Yeah for all the blunders disney has done recently this seems pretty good and disenchanted was good too but yeah a theatrical release would've saved them a bit considering how poor lightyear and especially strange world did. That's even if the agenda pushing wasn't in those movies but disenchanted didn't have any agenda moments and would've done better than the other 2 I mentioned with everyone
My favorite part of the movie is when the Hatbox Ghost said "It's Hatboxin' time!" and Hatboxed all over the place, haunting the mansion.
Well to be fair Hatbox Ghost is Jared Leto in this one so…

Finally! This movie has been in production for so long! It’s been in production hell for the longest time and it’s cycled through directors so many times. I’m glad it’s finally being made.
I know most people hate the Eddie Murphy movie but I personally liked it but maybe that’s the nostalgia talking but I’m really looking forward to this movie.

I love that one too! Especially the storyline. If truth be told I would have loved a background story between Master Gracey and Elizabeth.

Yeah it's obviously going to have the odd not so funny joke, but I actually quite like how creepy they're going with the visuals. The trippy shots of windows disappearing and the endless corridor, combined with the unique combination of actors (great seeing DeVito laughing his head off) have me really interested to see how weird they're going to take it.

This looks great. Perfectly captures the mix of humor and horror that Walt built in to the ride. Very excited.
He had already passed when most of the work on the ride itself was done. Pirates was the last ride he had a hand in developing. There is a lot of interesting things about how the folks who worked on it approached it without him, especially if it should be a purely scary attraction or a lighter tone.
Walt had a huge part in cultivating the aura of what the Mansion would become, as it sat as an unused show building for about a decade (~1961-1969)
In the 5 years it was in development when Walt was still alive, he vetoed many concepts and gags, and perpetuated many sight gags developed by Marc Davis and Rolly Crump. He vetoed many storylines personally, and was depicted many times on film surrounded by Imagineers and future HM gags.
I loved this ride. First time even a few months ago. It was worth every second.

Looks better than I thought but I really want to see a bit of the backstory of how the mansion and characters came to be versus another group of people coming to clear the mansion of entities.
I love the part where Tyler Durden says “Reject the basic assumptions of civilization, especially the importance of material possessions.” So stunning...so brave.
Ok for once in a long time, I’m actually excited to see something that Disney made. This definitely has a good dark vibe to it, but not being TOO scary for the children. It should be entertaining.

I loved the practical effects of the skeletons in the original movie. Rick baker worked on the costumes, so it would be great if they asked him to return to the remake. Not sure how I feel about this movie. It doesn't feel old enough for a remake, which is just showing my age unfortunatley. I really love that Devito is in this movie though.
It's not really a remake. It's more of a different adaptation of the attraction with new characters and a new story. And if the Eddie Murphy movie doesn't feel old enough... it was twenty years ago. We have gone through three live-action Spider-Men in the last two decades. So this is nothing.

I was worried it would be too silly, though I thought the Del Toro's may have gone too scary. This looks like the perfect mix, just like the ride was balanced between.
If the full movie is anything like this teaser, this is going to be one hell of a gothic ride! I'm actually really excited for this now.

OMG OMG OMG, IT IS LITERALLY THE RIDE IN MOVIE FORM!! The moving busts, the hallway, the ballroom, MADAM LEOTA, HATBOX GHOST, CONSTANCE HATCHAWAY!!! I am crying real tears. This was my very first ride ever at Disneyland last year and it is all so fresh in my mind and this movie looks amazing!!! Was that a Doom Buggy at the beginning?
I rode this the day after opening day (the old original hatbox ghost hadn't been removed yet) and I know how you feel. This is my favorite ride in the park. My home is even decked out in HM. I am really looking forward to this.

This is the most excited for a disney movie Ive been in a minute. The set and character design reminds me of the ride and I havent ridden it in over 20 years. Its amazing. The eddie murphy one was okay and understandably a more kid centric movie but I do want more of the scary. Especially if kids can handle the ride they should be able to handle a movie of the same tone.
I’m excited about this! I was just on the ride too, so classic and clever. Hopefully the movie will have that same effect!

Less then 20 years later and they're finally doing the reboot of this film that they've been planning and working on for so long. Not going to lie. I'm interested.
I loved riding Haunted Mansion in Disney World and love to see elements of the ride, like the changing paintings and piano player in the movie!!

Owen Wilson and Danny Devito are probably the only reason why I will be willing to watch this movie. Edit: I just learned Jamie Lee Curtis and Winona Ryder will also be in the movie too! Legendaries all around.
Also just learned that the legendary Guillermo del Toro was originally working on this film as writer and producer but Disney scrapped his work because it was “too scary”. Imagine the ticket sales Disney could of had if they kept del Toro on the project.

Maybe in the credits if they play Grim Grinning Ghosts there, or tucked away during some scene in the film?

The original haunted mansion from Disney was a underrated masterpiece. The mansion itself, the soundtrack, the tragic love story. I'm happy that after years of waiting now it's really gonna happen. Sadly Guillermo Del Torro is not on board as they planed. This is a darker version for adults and the 'older' fangroup 🎃. But the original was perfect so my expectations are very high. On ImbD this film is announced years agooooo
