Directed by Clint Eastwood and based on true events, “Richard Jewell” is a story of what happens when what is reported as fact obscures the truth.
“There is a bomb in Centennial Park. You have thirty minutes.” The world is first introduced to Richard Jewell as the security guard who reports finding the device at the 1996 Atlanta bombing-his report making him a hero whose swift actions save countless lives. But within days, the law enforcement wannabe becomes the FBI’s number one suspect, vilified by press and public alike, his life ripped apart. Reaching out to independent, anti-establishment attorney Watson Bryant, Jewell staunchly professes his innocence. But Bryant finds he is out of his depth as he fights the combined powers of the FBI, GBI and APD to clear his client’s name, while keeping Richard from trusting the very people trying to destroy him.
The film stars Oscar winners Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) as Watson Bryant and Kathy Bates (“Misery,” TV’s “American Horror Story”) as Richard’s mom, Bobi; Jon Hamm (“Baby Driver”) as the lead FBI investigator; Olivia Wilde (“Life Itself”) as Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Kathy Scruggs; and Paul Walter Hauser (“I, Tonya”) stars as Richard Jewell.
Oscar winner Eastwood directed from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”), based on the Vanity Fair article “American Nightmare-The Ballad of Richard Jewell” by Marie Brenner. Eastwood also produced under his Malpaso banner, alongside Tim Moore, Jessica Meier, Kevin Misher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson and Jonah Hill.
Eastwood’s creative team includes director of photography Yves Bélanger and production designer Kevin Ishioka, along with longtime costume designer Deborah Hopper and Oscar-winning editor Joel Cox (“Unforgiven”), who have worked with Eastwood throughout the years on numerous projects. The music is by Arturo Sandoval, who scored 2018’s “The Mule.”

This scene and especially the scene near the very end when Richard finally tells the FBI scumbags exactly what they were doing wrong were serious tearjerkers for me.

I know I am a year late but sad thing is Bill was the only "person" she could turn to. The man can't even admit to or say he regrets an incident so media heavy even I as a baby in most of the 90s (born in 95) I knew it was a po storm, even Eminem's line about in the hypocrisy of what some "people" in power do behind close doors is evil but he just tries to make a living off being a rapper in his self reflective LP The Marshall Mather LP 2.

The media, people of the media, not all, but some, have decided to take people's lives at stake for high ratings and money that can be made in other ways. A woman was made fun of by people because they had her lookin' like the type of woman to be feedin' people trash, no one knew it was fake because it was a reality show that was portrayed as extreme things people have done, they lied and made it look real. Luckily she spoke out. They should have reality shows detail what is real and what isn't.

Gentlemen Directors of warner, I am Brazilian I know that whatever for you. But I have an idea for you to make your pocket in billions and billions of dollars! No. He was profiled based on being a loner and a "wannabe" cop, and the media ran with a story of him planting the bomb to boost himself as a hero when he found it. He wasn't exonerated until 2005 when the bomber, Eric Rudolph, pled guilty to the bombing and revealed his motive was to embarrass the government as punishment for their sanctioning of abortion. Jewell was nothing more than a convenient scapegoat when the government didn't have any good leads in 1996.

It should. Eastwood has a good record of making accurate historical dramas. He made 2 films simultaneously about the battle of Iwo Jima in WW2, one from the American perspective and one from the Japanese. Both are very accurate based on available records and witnesses.
