David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”) directs New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!,” the origin story that stars Zachary Levi (TV’s “Chuck”) as the titular DC Super Hero, along with Asher Angel (TV’s “Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (the “Kingsman” movies) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Peter Safran (“Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” films) serves as the film’s producer.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word-SHAZAM!-this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart-inside a ripped, godlike body-Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
“Shazam!” also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (“IT”) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, part of the foster family that includes Mary, played by Grace Fulton (“Annabelle: Creation”); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (TV’s “This is Us”); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (TV’s “Fresh Off the Boat”); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (TV’s “Hawaii Five-O”). Cooper Andrews (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Marta Milans (TV’s “Killer Women”) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez, with Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) as the Wizard.
Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, story by Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Christopher Godsick, Jeffrey Chernov, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia serve as executive producers.
Sandberg’s creative team includes his “Annabelle: Creation” director of photography Maxime Alexandre, production designer Jennifer Spence, editor Michel Aller and costume designer Leah Butler.

Can’t wait for Joker, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984 and the all the success of the future DC films, and also, why can’t people like both marvel and DC it’s like saying you can only like The lord of the rings and not Harry Potter. Or saying you can only like Star Wars and not Star Trek. People can be a fan of whatever they want, and being a marvel fan myself I’m glad there is more good content in DC to explore. :)
I love both Marvel and DC as well. Both companies have made some duds. Although, some more than others:
I like both Marvel and DC but prefer DC since I grew up with mainly that, and the 90s Spiderman and X-Men (though X-Men I didn't love quite as much, just thought Rogue and Gambit were awesome) but I love Lord of the Rings and hate Harry Potter, can't stand him, and love most Star Wars, haven't seen much Star Trek just the 2 latest movies which were decent.

Zachary Levi was the right choice to play Shazam...
The Original Captain Marvel. When he debuted, he was more popular than Superman. So DC sued him into limbo, made him lose the rights to his name, which Marvel Comics swooped in and claimed. Now he has to go by SHAZAM! Still one of the best superheroes of all time. Hope this movie does him justice!

Back to my original point: To be more specific, the Avengers Infinity movie was dark and it was a shocker in the end. After mulling it over, in addition to that, the LAST thing that people want to see happen is an edgy female hero end up being the "one who saves the day." 'Cause so far some people are scared for "Endgame."

And finally, the most difficult for Shazam, it is perhaps to make known the general public and find its place in their heart ....
I think his purity will please. At a time when we all love movies that test us with their dark vision of existence, we need to see things bright and tell stories like that. There is a lot of heaviness in the world and I think it's really nice to go see a movie to cheer up with a nice story about people just trying to find their place in this world...

This looks really good. For any DCEU fans thinking they’re going the “Marvel” Route, SHAZAM is literally a kid being a superhero. It’s not supposed to be dark. You want that, go back and watch BVS or Man Of Steel (I like both.)

I’m a big fan of both the MCU and DCEU; both fanbases have their fair share of ignorant people, but I’ve seen DC fans get mad over Shazam when it’s supposed to be light-hearted.
@@reneepeck8094 The reason people don't like BvS is because Luthor's plan makes absolutely no sense. And for some reason Batman's kryptonite is the name "Martha." If it turns out the Joker's mom is named Martha too is Batman going to team up with him? Most of BvS is just bad writing.

Every video/trailer that comes out for this movie impresses me. This could be a really fun movie. Captain marvel on the other hand, has not. Which is odd because I was looking forward to that movie way more than Shazam!

At least _this_ Captain Marvel is just having fun being a super-hero movie and it just looks like fun. The MCU one, apparently, feels it has to pander to an audience that generally doesn't buy tickets or merch. I like marvel but after seeing the Captain Marvel trailers I got really turned off by them.
Aquaman, it was actually really enjoyable to watch, even though the pacing was meh, I still enjoyed it and the story. And then seeing the trailer for this it looks like a really fun movie.
DC is really stepping up their game with these movies. Can’t wait to see more of what they got.

This was so refreshing. 2 minutes of some great footage and some of the actors actually excited to be doing a superhero film rather than using their platform to push social politics. I hope this movie destroys Captain Marvel at the box office.
