La Llorona. The Weeping Woman. A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand. The mere mention of her name has struck terror around the world for generations.
In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain.
Now her tears are eternal. They are lethal, and those who hear her death call in the night are doomed. La Llorona creeps in the shadows and preys on the children, desperate to replace her own. As the centuries have passed, her desire has grown more voracious ... and her methods more terrifying.
In 1970s Los Angeles, La Llorona is stalking the night-and the children.
Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona’s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide.
Beware of her chilling wail…she will stop at nothing to lure you into the gloom.
Because there is no peace for her anguish. There is no mercy for her soul.
And there is no escape from the curse of La Llorona.
On April 19, 2019, this timeless Mexican legend comes to terrifying life in New Line Cinema’s “The Curse of La Llorona.”
The film is produced by Emile Gladstone, Gary Dauberman (“IT” and “Annabelle” franchises) and James Wan (“The Conjuring” universe). Michael Chaves, who won Shriekfest’s Best Super Short Film in 2016 for “The Maiden,” makes his feature directorial debut.
The film stars Linda Cardellini (Netflix’s “Bloodline,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,”); Raymond Cruz (TV’s “Major Crimes”); Patricia Velasquez (TV’s “The L Word,” “The Mummy” films); and Marisol Ramirez (TV’s “NCIS: Los Angeles”). The cast also includes Sean Patrick Thomas (the “Barbershop” films, “Halloween: Resurrection”), Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen (“Selfless”) and newcomer Roman Christou.
Chaves directs from a screenplay by Mikki Daughtry & Tobias Iaconis. The behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Michael Burgess, production designer Melanie Jones, editor Peter Gvozdas and costume designer Megan Spatz. The music is by Joseph Bishara (the “Annabelle” and “Conjuring” films).

They took such a unique legend and made la llorona come after a family who doesn’t even live in mexico
Mexico used to be alot biger I think Arizona, the lower part of California and New Mexico used to be Mexico.
@@rangernation4538 doesn't matter they could of easily shot this movie in Nevada or California and still made it look like mexico. You're just making excuses
Well, at least they used hispanic people.
Why la llorona needs to oive in mexico?

Bro i went in the comments to see what everyone thought and ended up dying of laughter. Y'all hella creative
In 2019 a Canadian cinema accidentally played this instead of detective pikachu. Needless to say the children were terrified.

@@MsLilnessa1 but why in the world was it your bedtime story?!
Every horror movie now a days:
- Some tall scary woman in a white or black dress
- With nasty ass rotten skin, with way to long nails.
- Making some some kind of fu**** up noises.
- Bone cracking sounds when turning a round.
- Way to many jumpscares. So you know every time it happens.
- Some kind of preist is the hero.
- LATIN! language
- Every time its daylight you could relax
- Everytime its dark you need to put down your popcorn
- A huge amount of cross that doesnt work.
Would love to hear your opinion on what they should make a horror movie about (legends, creepy stories. Etc)
like most James Wan horror films

Elese he would already destroy her like did to a partner
For years I heard the stories about her and never believed she was real. I would always think my cousins would just be playing around to make me scared. But after one night of going out in Mexico, I kept hearing a crying noise. It was about 3:45am. She kept crying, howling almost. I thought it was the brakes of the big rigs but I knew it was in fact a woman. It legit sounded like she had surround sound throughout the sky. Shit was unreal. Mexico man. Gotta love it 😅
I'm more amaze of the fact that she crosses country borders like Santa on Xmas. I mean that legend is well known al throughout Latin America, for decades.
I really want to believe that she is real but I can’t even my mom told me she is real but I just can’t
@@SVP3RNOVA I never believed my mom until I went to Mexico when I was 12. Two of my cousins, one 12 and the other 6, guided me to a local river. It was us three and two other girls that were my age at the time. We played around the river and it got dark. And we started hearing someone crying. But the crying sounded like it came from every direction. At first I thought maybe someone fell down on the big hard rocks near the river, then I remembered the legends my mom used to tell me about and I was scared shitless once that crossed my mind. The crying was louder and my cousins told me and the others to get the fuck out. We ran shirtless through the little mini woods and for back home. I couldn't sleep that night. Once I got back home from my vacation I told my mom and she laughed and said "Por pendejo" or others words she called me a fool.

Lmao that was the hitchhiker ghost that kills every unfaithful men. After her dead due to her husband being a cheater hahah, supernatural love the show btw.
Because, as a Mexican, I know for word of mouth that La Llorona is a woman who has lost everything, and she will do whatever means to get her children back. She is powerful, her crying instigates terror on adults and children, and as she wants them she'll do everything to get them. Supernatural didn't had a La Llorona, it was kind of a vengeful spirit, not as powerful as her

Really?
At 1:10 that's the same priest from Annabelle 1, so that means that this movie is also connected in the conjuring universe and probably is a prequel to Annabelle because in Annabelle he has some scars in his face
Wan said this isn’t part of the conjuring universe, unless the movie ends up tying into it
Victor Silva In Australia, Event Cinemas has advertised this as part of the Conjuring Universe and Wan I believe only stated this wasn’t a part of the Conjuring Universe because he wanted to see how people would react to this as it’s a seperate entity and different from the already established characters and demons of the Conjuring 1 & 2. This film is produced by him, directed by the guy doing the Conjuring 3 and it looks and feels exactly like another entry into this universe.
I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a part of this universe, I believe Wan is trying to deceive people and surprise them with easter eggs and connections to the bigger Conjuring Universe.
This Digital Spoiler yeah that’s a very good point, I guess we’ll see
It's actually an old mexican scary story. Has nothing to do with other movies. This story has been around for many generations in Mexico even before the movies you mentioned

btw for everyone who didn’t know, the song “La Llorona” has nothing to do with the folktale, the song is about a man singing to his love because he’s being drafted to war. The folktale is about a woman who drowned her kids because her husband was cheating on her. They just happen to be called the same thing because “La Llorona” is like the general word for “Weeping Woman”
la llorona: [woman sobs]
me: "am i a joke to you?"
I just remembered one of George Lopez jokes about the bedtime story we got every time. “Once upon a land, whatever they say..far away tale. Mira cabron, once upon a time, a long time ago...weeks., there was a lady who drowned her kids” 🤣

Why does NO one talk about how the mother is Velma from Scooby Doo??
Edit : the reason why La Llarona wants her kids is because she knows the mystery inc is separated lmao
