  • This tutorial with show you how to use the Wavve Design Editor to create templates for your podcast animated videos.
The design editor is used to create animations, which can later be paired with audio. To get to the design editor, login to the Wavve dashboard and click Create and then New Design.
The first screen you'll see is one asking what size canvas you want to work with.
You have the options of using a horizontal, square, or vertical canvas, which you want to select based on where you'll be sharing your Wavve video.
Notice that Wavve gives guidelines on which is best for which platform and post type.
For example, square is best for Instagram posts, while vertical is best for Instagram Stories.
For this tutorial, I'm going to use a square canvas.
If you change your mind and want to switch the design size of your canvas, just go to set up. The option to change the background color of the canvas is also under setup. To change the color just click on the color swatch and either select a color or put in a color code. Another option for the background is to use an image or graphic, which you can import into the design editor. Many Wavve users create a graphic in a program like Canva
and use the graphic instead of a plain colored background.
For this tutorial, we're going to use a graphic I created in Canva, which is saved to my desktop. To import an image or graphic, just click on image and then upload, which will open a prompt for you to select the relevant image.
If you'd like to resize the image you can do so by dragging the edges in or out. Within the design editor you have the option to add text to your design. To do so click on the Text button in the bottom menu and then click Insert Text.
Once the text box shows up, type what you want it to say and then adjust the font, font style, alignment, font color, and font background color in the bottom menu bar. For this design I'm going to go with a bold black font.
Later in the process of creating your Wavve video you'll be given the option to add captions. While you're making your design you may want to know where captions will show up so that you can make sure things don't overlap. To do so, click captions on the right side of the bottom menu bar and then choose whether you want to see them in light or dark style. When you're done viewing them, just click hide and the preview will disappear.
Now it's time to add our animations! There are 2 types of animations you can add to your designs which are the waveform and the progress bar. We’ll start with a waveform, which is an animation that will move in rhythm with the audio you upload.
You can scroll through the options at the bottom of the screen and once you see one you like, click it and it'll show up on your design. To change the color just click on the color swatch on the side of the screen. Waveforms can also be resized which is just done by dragging the edges of the waveform in or out.
I want to point out some design tools within the Wavve editor displayed in the top right corner of your screen. If you add an element to your design you no longer want, you can click erase item and it will disappear. The forward and backward buttons are used for layering the different elements of your design.
Next we'll look at the progress bar animation, which shows how much time is left in the video. Scrolling through your options, changing the color, or size of the progress bar can be done in the same way as the waveform animation. Notice that for the progress bar
you can change the color of both the main color and the background color.
I think we're ready to save our design and finish up with the tutorial! To save your design
simply click save in the top right corner of your screen.
This will take you to a screen where you can preview how your design will look with animation and add your audio, and that's that! At this point you should be an expert at using the design editor, but don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. Also, don't forget to tag us on social media to show off your custom Wavve designs.
Thanks so much, and keep creating!

You can remove them from the page with the "Archive" option. If you need them removed against your time limits, reach out to our support chat within the app or support@wavve.co.
