If you go for a weapon, police are trained to view you as a threat not just to their safety but to public safety. You fire off a round or so, it could just as easily hit a bystander. Police are entrusted to protect public safety, so if you make yourself appear to be a threat, then police are trained to take you down until they are sure you are not a threat to anyone.

When they say “he fired only one shot...” is when I get really upset. That “one shot” could’ve hit your mom, dad, significant other, etc. That “one shot” could change peoples’ lives forever. Don’t say “only 1 shot” as if it’s nothing. Some people might say I’m over reacting, but the media really gets me pissed off at how they portray shootings involving men and women of color. They try to get the most attention from viewers leading them to leave out the important parts, such as what happened leading up to a shooting or why the police were called to the scene. Those two things can change a story completely.
@riptide 23 any round fired from a weapon could do the same thing, they weren’t the ones who fired first. And when people stand near situations involving police and a person with a gun, they take that chance. I’m not saying that anyone standing near by couldn’t get hit, just that when they say only “one shot “ that that one shot, like you said, no matter whose gun it came from, could kill someone. The police responded justly, as stated in the video.

An officer told me that an officer's training video showed a person high on meth was still moving after about 125 shoots to his body. How many officers and cars? Body camera video from all officers and cars need to be shown.
