Snow didn't have to go through that kind of character growth, but she probably could have fallen into drug abuse and all kinds of stuff and really have hurtful lyrics that aren't productive. I imagine differences in upbringing play a huge role, I could be wrong though. Also Slim Shady was kind of a trauma art project in a way, and I think that detail gets lost on people sometimes. I have lots of respect for Em, because he's grown so much and been doing great with sobriety and owning up to his past mistakes-- but I have lots of respect for Snow as well because she started from a better place initially, in terms of how she turns her anger into lyrics specifically. It's much less violent ya know? It's not to say that there's anything wrong with Eminem when he was starting his career and doing the Slim Shady thing, but I have to appreciate the fact that Snow was putting in the same effort to be a genuine and a kind person much much earlier on in her life. They're both very encouraging to other artists too and that's another similarity they share that I love. Snow is much younger than Em too so I wonder if she was inspired by him to some degree- especially with some of his less aggressive songs and with the latter part of his career.
