I like the idea that Ho-oh saw some random kid get merked by his own Pikachu and thought "Man, I guess I could resurrect him" and now there's a zombie 10 year old running around.

The fact that Mirage Island is full of Wynaut is a hilarious answer to the question the player will inevitably ask once they realize nothing special is there: "Why have this incredibly difficult to find island in the game if there's nothing special there in the first place?!?"
"Wynaut?"

Adding Kanto into gen2 was worth everything. It blew my mind as a child having a whole new region

Mew under the truck was the first rumor I remember hearing about as a kid. I tried using strength on every single tile to move it. And then to find out later I had access to Mew through a glitch. Mind-blowing.

On my first playthru of Platinum I got pokerus. I remember being so confused seeing nurse Joy having more dialogue boxes than usual.

Not even gonna freaking lie. I NEVER once questioned why the most incompetent (and lovable) Rocket grunts were sent to Ash, but now the Giovanni theory is my headcannon

Way back in the day my brother was playing Pokémon soul silver, and he showed me something real strange. He was grinding outside of the sprout tower and he encountered a lv 100 bellsprout. He showed me the encounter and we both witnessed his team get sweeped by it since it was quite early in the game. Sadly we couldn’t take a picture or video because we didn’t have a camera or phone back then since we were just kids. To this day we haven’t seen or heard anyone else encounter something like that, but I swear to you it was real

A really nice change of pace from the usual competitive pokemon content. Actually, on that note, an iceberg for competitive pokemon also sounds really fun. A list of scandals, successful gimmicks or meta calls that took everyone by surprise, quirks in the competitive format that weren't resolved until much later, etc

I'm glad wolfe brought up the manga. To this day I still believe the ruby sapphire, diamond and pearl, and black and white manga are top tier stories. Love, death hardships, plot twists, actually evil villans, the stories are amazing!

I love Pokémon more now as an adult than I possibly could have as a kid. Even tho the franchise is 25 years, learning about its lore makes it feel brand new again!!

Pretty sure Ash DID age, and he was CANONICALLY getting a bit too close to adulthood for the company's comfort, so they just said "He's 10 again" and he's been there ever since.

My favorite glitch from Gen 1 was encountering Pokemon above Level 100! After talking to the old man that shows how to catch Pokemon in Virdian City, fly down to Cinnabar Island, immediate move right to the edge of the island, surf up and down along the edges. Thanks Wolfey for bringing back the awesome nostalgia and mysteries :D

22:30 we actually know from interviews that the reason Jigglypuff got into Smash is because they were short on characters soon to release so they introduced Jigglypuff since it was a popular pokemon thar conveniently could reuse a lot of already existing moves, namely Kirby's.

its been a while since scarlet and violet came out, and since the kalos starters are gonna be transferable, and how the guy who created the ultimate weapon in kalos was named "AZ" (which is the same initials as "area zero"), AND how theres an area you cant reach which is blacked out in the map (the only blacked out area in the entire map)

The idea that Giovanni is Ash's father is pretty wholesome. I remember some other character being the fan favorite for potentially being Ash's father though.

Did anyone else notice in the part about Wobbuffet, there is a clip where a Ditto transforms into Wobbuffet, Ditto's facial Features are over the face of the Wobbuffet Tail, not the main blue-body face, giving evidence that the Tail is the main face of the Pokémon! 😁

About gen 2 having Kanto in it: The original version of the game was having trouble fitting onto a single cartridge before Satoru Iwata stepped in with a compression tool so good it practically doubled the size of the game. Because of this, it was decided to add Kanto into the game with the additional space

I always wanted to share stuff like "The Blaine in the anime was different because he was a different character removed very late in development" or "Mewtwo might have initially come from one of the fossils where the old man who lost his fake teeth is". There was also a rumor about a "pokemon plus and minus" game after XY. Since Scarlet and Violet, there are also new Theories, that the Laser from the Machine in XY made Area Zero in Paldea and the Floette is from there, because it has another type of Flower, than the other pokemons

about the banned porygon episode, it goes around that the main source of the seizure-inducing flashes were coming from pikachu and not from porygon.

I got lucky and reached Mirage Island the first time I was exploring the area as a kid. Had no idea what it was or why only Wynaut’s appeared. Never saw it again until learning how rare it actually was lmao.

Arcanine is also called a legendary in its original Tgc card. It was in the first booster pack I ever opened.

The truck/mew rumour also had one extra step in another rumour. you were supposed to use strength in the truck to move it.

One of the theories I like is that The War Surge mentions was between Johto and Kanto, which is why there are so few ways to get between the two regions, and why there's almost no knowledge of Johto Pokémon before GSC.

I remember feeding unlimited rare candy to my missing no and getting a level 1 kangaskhan. Only knew dizzy punch. Only level 1 pokemon at the time. After achieving I felt I achieved everything. Then I tried the Abra mew glitch. Been 10 years since and i stand by poke blue as the best game ever

An interesting addendum to 23:36 is that the room file still exists in NA versions of Emerald (I stumbled across it in a map randomizer) but the game will crash upon trying to start the battle after talking to the hiker.

I believe that Ash's dad was actually introduced in the 1st episode. There's the guy standing near Delia With tears of pride and his eyes. In all honesty I don't think a neighbor would cry tear's of pride for Ash like.. that.

the Giovanni theory would b hella depressing considering in hgss its confirmed that Silver (your rival) is Giovanni's son. In some canon pokemon animations its mentioned he hasn't seen his dad in 3 years or so since team rocket broke up. it would b so depressing if giovanni tried to make sure his other alleged son was safe instead of his present son that he had contact with before team rocket first disbanded. (please correct some of this if im wrong, im a new pokemon fan 🐛)

A note on the pokemon war:
There are very few middle aged men in kanto in the original games. There are old men, and boys, The young men are seen as part of team rocket and any men Surge's age are all in biker gangs which roam from celedon to fuschia (possibly a lot of them are veterans). Lance seems quite young to be the strongest trainer in all of kanto, and why is Prof. Oak in charge of the pokemon league? (the dude's like 75)
Additionally, the architecture and culture in Kanto is that of the postwar economic boom the united states had in the 1950s. The mainland of kanto is dominated by the saffron metropolitan area and its suburbs. Much like Earthbound, this game was influenced by post WW2 westernization and chose to make that its setting.
Thirdly, why was mewtwo being created? what was the purpose of expending exorbitant amounts of funding and time into crafting a genetically modified mentally unstable killing machine? To end the war. The last group of men you meet in gen 1 is the scientists which work at silph co. or worked at the pokemon mansion.
Just some interesting details.

I just wanna say team rainbow rocket is by far the coolest storyline idea ever introduced in pkmn and deserves the movie treatment

Anyone heard of this one:
In gen 1, get a level 100 machamp, go to the power plant, use strength and push boulders to the exit at the very end by zapdos. After that when you go out the exit itself, you'll be transported to the unreachable grass area outside the pallet town fence where all 151 pokemon can be encountered. The weird thing is there are no boulders in the power plant though so that part is odd

I did not expect to know as many as I did. I only missed like 5 max. Great video and I'm glad more people are getting to learn about some Pokemon mysteries/facts/whatever else.

i’m an avid reader of the pokemon manga and it’s definitely worth it. i think all the arcs are good, even if some aren’t as Great (coughs swsh xy coughs) but i really like the direction the manga takes the games plot especially early on. it’s not nearly as dark as people make it out to be though but it has some Moments especially in the unova arc

Pokemon was the series I loved as a child (I remember collecting plushies, tazos, figures, etc.) and though I'm not really into it nowadays, it's always great to watch videos about it, like the one you made!

The theory of ash still being ten is that the main writer wanted a perfect timeline for kids being that it’s always summer and holidays. This keeps ash at the same age as it’s probably just reapeting the same year over and over but allowing to keep peoples knowledge and what has happened in there life cannon. This keeps ash’s Pokemon knowledge getting better but is still the same old ash.

Another reason as to why Kalos feels so under-explored is that AZ's flotette is still yet to be released.

As someone who’s had a load of seizures but not due to flashing lights, i rewatched that Pokémon go episode a few month back, and it was like taking acid and tripping balls for 10 seconds and feel like crap after the flashing for me.

Pokemon Adventures was so good, legitimately the best manga I've read. I still love the newer arcs as well. Really wish this storyline was the one animated.

Back when I played the original gold, I caught it dunsparse and trained it. I did this thinking it would evolve into gligar... the body types are remarkably similar as well as the pokedex entries are in numeric order.

Imposter Professor oak was in the Red, Green and Blue arc of Pokemon Adventures in Adventure 27. He attacked Red but it was revealed that it was just Sabrina's Kadabra disguised as him (because Koga, Lt Surge, and Sabrina were in team rocket) while the real oak was captured to replace Blaine (who was also in TR, but he left).

We didn't have internet at that time, so I didn't kno wh3y the old man couldn't see it.
I figured I had to do something crazy in the game - like catching a super rare 'mon or whatever. Lol
I went over to ML once, but the man saw it again oneday after I had already gone.
I never knew it was that rare! Haha, that's dope.

As Gold & Silver was my first Pokemon game I would say it was actually critical to include Kanto in the game for two reasons. Short-term.. that hooked me to the series. Long-term, 20 years later it's still some sort of precedent and we all yearn for a Paldea & Kalos connection.

Honestly, every fan should read the manga, its amazing. Red, Blue and Green Chapter was good, Sun and Moon Chapter was good and Gold, Silver and Crystal Chapter was pretty good as well.

This is by far your best video wolf, at least for me. Got so much nostalgia and realised how much I'm connected to every aspect of Pokémon. Ofc you explaination skills and humour also made it so fun to watch.

My theory re. Ash always being 10 was that he was knocked out in the S.S. Anne, and that every event after the Police's memorial to him, Misty etc. was Ash dreaming. This was inspired by a similar theory involving Homer Simpson losing consciousness in an episode (I fail to remember that theory in detail), and Bart Simpson famously also never ages.
As for the theory of Giovanni being Ash's father and him sending JJ&M after him to keep tabs on him, if this was the case, why did he fire them prior to the events of Dues & Don'ts?

Pokémon G/S/C, R/S/E and Di/Pe/Pl were my high tide of Pokémon gaming, yes in Pokémon Yellow I had a lvl 100 Pikachu an a Mew, but I was still a kid. Pokémon Gold was the beginning of my mania and I did everything there was to do and knew almost everything there was to know, sadly I found out my battery ran dry the moment I figured out a way to possibly move my friends from Gold to R/S/E. It extended here in the Hoen region. Got my hands on some event Pokémon via friends and the pokérus before cheating a little bit and unlocking the legendary islands. Got my passage to Mirage Island the legit way and spending a total of about 3100 hours here and completing the Pokédex. When I got my hands on Pokémon Pearl and later Diamond and Platina things got crazy. I started going to events and meetings, completed my Pokédex on my Pearl version and then life happened. I started working more, moved out of my parents house and began starting a family (never got that far). Now that I'm old and got myself in a financial stable situation and not having to work as much, I'm feeling the sentiment itching to continue my journey. I'm currently trying to get my hands on some nice merch and the occasional game and console. Met someone at a local Pokémon swap meeting and indulge myself into a new found youth. I really hope it's not a midlife crisis because I'm only 30. But I enjoyed the video very much.

I think adding Kanto in the gen 2 games at the time made sense as it was meant to be the last pokemon game, but looking back, if Johto was entirely it's own thing, completely independent of Kanto, alot of issues we have with it today would probably not be there (wacky level curves, mostly just Kanto pokemon till postgame) so I would have probably preffered space world's Johto, but we can't go back in time so, ehh😅

I remember the mew below the truck rumour. I got Pokemon Red and my friend got Pokemon Blue for christmas and we tried everything to get mew once we both filled up the rest of the Pokedex. I only really played the first 3 generations of Pokemon (and their remakes) and trying to catch mew was one of the things I wasted the most time on back in the day. KRplus didn't exist so there were no videos available on how to get it.

18:30 this was actually confirmed. In a Japanese pokedex guide made by the pokemon team (no 3rd party us guides here) they grouped and classified Arcanine with the legendary birds and mewtwo. This book was found by DYKG and translated by Nob Ogasawara.
The lore was changed after the fact.

We have a similar incident to Ho-oh granting Ash eternal happiness by keeping him on his travels in Yu-Gi-Oh. In the 5D's manga, Yusei Fudo is offered a wish, and manga panels show several choices for what wish he'd want. All of those panels are from different parts of 5D's era of Yugioh, including the anime story, a movie...and Yusei's wish is to continue to Duel with all the friends he made in Neo Domino City, like how Ash wants to be a real master by going to every region.

To be fair people were right about Mew they just werent right about the truck portion. You need to skip ss anne and get traded a pokemon with cut. then when you get to mistys town you can do a few things to get mew from the wild grass.
