Dude when Jason as Jasper’s Beast was just like “DO IT BITE IT” and Jasper said “Are you even looking at that thing” I cried laughing. This episode was amazing.
Can Greg randomly provide color commentary every episode?
Also...Ib and Greg are the buddy cop movie that I never knew I always wanted.
That is pretty much twitch chat with random people involved in these providing commentary. B Dave was in chat for this episode the whole night talking about how this stuff always happens when he is not around while Greg was arguing things would have been fine if he was just allowed to throw his grenades when he wanted to.

I love the subtle physical choices Josephine Mcadams and Alex Ward make in this episode. Earlier in their relationship there's a lot more touching, whispered reassurance and so forth. Now, as you feel the tension build between them and Eva is desperate to keep Jasper safe from Strauss, they touch less, even sitting apart from each other in certain episodes but the affection, the looks, don't stop. You can feel the pain of the characters through the nuance of the actors and it's wonderful

Jasper and Eva talk almost in whispers, with quiet, rasp and shooting voices. And then we have Kyoko, from Anabelle school of "the neighbours in the other block also hear me" with bonus of acute girly voice
all other things being equal, I want to see a Carver vs Greg snark- off
Hell yes!!! Bring them both in and have Greg get real uncomfortable with Carvers “Hey baby doll” shtick with Annabelle. Have to two of them go at it because Greg def sees the coterie as family at this point and that is his little sister so who does Carver think he is even if he is Annabelle’s Sire. Just hell yes!!

@39:35 The way Vince gets his character Greg to describe how the damn napalm grenade works and how to best employ it is spot on the way ever single military person (myself included) would behave. "It's really something special!" he's so proud of himself too while Jasper is just seeing another anvil drop out of the sky at him. Great little scene!

Greg has had a few moments where he describes the correct procedure or method for something, and with the correct nomenclature. As a former infantryman, I love it when a role-player takes the time to learn the kinds of things their character might know. It adds authenticity, and I personally appreciate that the actor took the time to study up.
This show proves that the potential for excellent Tabletop Roleplaying Game content is a lot higher than many have previously thought. This show is better than the vast majority of TV and Movies.
I love how Greg is in character when asking about a regular peasant D10 that snuck in to his ankh dice.

This is the most catastrophic episode at this point of the series.
Way to turn VtM into an old-school dungeon crawl. Negotiate thru traps, spend 20 minutes arguing about how to go through a door, and then get your ass kicked by a gargoyle...
Right? Sometimes, Vampire: The Masquerade is a violent blood opera, or an ill-fated romance gone horribly wrong, or a horrific global conspiracy. Sometimes, it's a dungeon crawl.
The funny part is the goyle didn't even do much they all hurt themselves 😭
I just love how Kyoko is like the younger sibling who just wants to hang out with her older sister and her cool bf but isn't picking up that she just wants to be alone with him lmao

@@JasonCarl I'm actually curious, are there any plans for implementing Gargoyles any time in the near future? Because when you brought the Lasombra into this game it was right around when you guys released the sneak peek of the clan from Chicago By Night, and then you introduced the Hecata in the Seattle By Night game pretty much as you were releasing teaser chapters for cults of the Blood Gods.
That is assuming, of course, that you can even say. I just really like gargoyles and am *really* interested in how the V5 version of visceratika will be handled.

I don't know how Jason Carl keeps himself from laughing during some of his players' lines, considering what a great sense of humor he has (watch Seattle By Night if you have any doubts). I would have a difficult time as Storyteller if my players were so funny.
These players make it VERY challenging to keep it together. :)

This managed to be the best episode in the series with all the other seasons combined into 1. I never knew I needed Jasper and Greg in a sass contest trying to out-sass each other. It works so well and that ending... god damn it Vince now I gotta go buy sour cream and onion chips D:

I absolutely ADORE Greg, he's so entertaining especially when with these guys, he feels so much more lighthearted when contrasted with Jasper and Eva, and the "Oh, just the backyard.. Nelli's still pretty pissed at me." line forced me to pause so I didn't miss anything in my fit of laughter.
Hunger Check failures leading to a short RP scene with your Beast / Sire is such a good mechanic, its a shame. It should be in the book its so good.

Well yeah. She ghouled her to save her ass but she gave her free will to do her own shit.
Oh, Chloe DEFINITELY bailed as soon as Eva refused to Embrace her. She's very manipulative, duplicitous, and just after the immortality with no regard for how many people she has to hurt.
Honestly, she reminds me of a character from a TV show. It's called V Wars and its basically vamp apocalypse because of some virus that was dormant under the Arctic turning people into predators, but only those with a specific piece of junk DNA.
This one woman starts to just abuse that and revel in it. She almost kills her sister,infects her, and never even checks up on her. She then continues to watch vamps torture and play with other people just because they can, drink from them, tie them up and terrify them, and just really enjoys her time.
And THEN, her sister who's been living off blood bags and vampire blood and has been vigilante-hunting vamps and stopping them,finds her and finally puts her down, and the original woman just cannot FATHOM how her being a complete monster could have turned the sister she almost killed and abandoned against her.
It's a decent show for only that single revenge arc, so... maybe don't watch it. But yeah, Chloe's idiocy and obvious duplicitousness are just sooo screamingly obvious.
When Greg says “Whoa, she’s a lot…” around 32:35, just for a second, he sounds just like Taliesen Jaffe! And that’s high praise!

It breaks my heart every time Jasper and Eva are in situations where they just want to protect each other but can't because someone needs to be the protected for that to work :P

Something about Jasper's personality seems to be reflecting on Eva. Couples affect their personality by being too long together.

Kyoko's fireballs are almost as damaging as Evas "force lightning" I think Eva does three and Kyoko does 2. Imagine Eva warding both of them and something to grapple both of them taking 2 from wards then 5 from the followup hits. that would stop or kill most vampires.
I figure It is equivalent to about 9 close up shotgun blasts or 12 rifle shots wearing no armour.

I've said it before, but I hope the music that LA by Night uses will be made available at some point. It's gotten better and better, especially the opening music during the slide-show on the Twitch streams.

The only flaw of a Tremere is the strengt of their clan.

Hey, since Tremere can't form blood bonds anymore, Eva could totally "make dinner" for Jasper on a constant basis, couldn't she? Not accounting for those pesky *morals* people keep telling me about, that is
I thought it wasn't that they can't make blood bonds, it was just that they don't have to.
The V5 core book has the Tremere bane as "Tremere vitae can no longer Blood Bond other Kindred, though they themselves can be Bound by Kindred from other clans. A Tremere can still bind mortals and ghouls, though the corrupted vitae must be drunk an additional number of times equal to the vampire’s Bane Severity for the bond to form". It's due to the fall of the Vienna Chantry, which somehow glitched their entire rigid pyramid of blood bonds
There's always the risk that Jasper could drink too much and Eva could go into torpor, or even accidently be diablerised. There's also the problem that just because Jasper is sated, Eva would now be very thirsty.
That would only happen when Jasper was very hangry (like this episode, yeah), and to the second point I think Eva could just slake her doubled thirst the normal way, which we've seen she can do :p
(Of course, I know that this is all just taking a gimmicky mechanistic approach to resolving deeply personal, driving character issues)
@@IaIaCthulhuFtagn No it is CANT not "decide not to " or "are adverse to". This is because Tremere was run on bonding other members of their own clan. That was smashed! They can still bond ghouls.

The energy between Eva and Kyoko in this episode was GREAT! Brilliant idea, putting these characters together for an episode.
I like the little things you notice that show how immersed they are Eva wearing red (scarlet or crimson petal) or that they drink dark coloured liquids like it was blood they are so into it

The second Eva asked the Gargoyle “who he serves”, I knew that shit was about hit the fan. There isn’t a single diplomatic bone between all four of them. Doesn’t take much effort to convince a gargoyle that they don’t owe shit to their creator.
Diplomacy, hmm... If only we knew of a Kindred who used words as their primary "weapons"- might find that they are not so useless ( as they have stated of themself previously) down here after all!
I know the story is already into the HY by night category but maaaaaaaaan I hope we see more Greg. He has grown on me like a plague and its wonderful.

I never felt a more accurate description of the experience of a character, a ghoul at that in the World of Darkness, i loved it.
Chain lightning has a new definition now-

Watching the publish dates tick closer and closer to the event horizon of Miss Rona's Global Panorama is providing ominous dramatic tension in this vampire story.
Now we just wait for all this magic weirdness to catch the attention of a local mage. If an awakened does show up I just hope to have Greg there to react to that set of insanity.
Imagine how he would react when faced with the far tho lolololol

Just wanted to thank the Vamily for getting me into Vampire, when I started watching all the way back in season one I wouldn't think I would be running a 7 person Miami Chronicle while also RPing online on discord. Btw great episode as always, the cast is killing it and the ST always manages not to just subvert the expectations but outright flip them on their heads like a Ventrue Methuselah plotting for the last half of the millennium.
Your Miami chronicle sounds cool! Seven is a lot of players, though, how do you manage?
@@JasonCarl well getting everyone to be there in time has been difficult but the players all pull off it somehow. Besides some of them have experience as GMs and they bind the team together from the inside so spotlight is not as much of an issue as I was afraid it would be. I am so glad Greg is liked. I liked him immediately and now I see I am not alone. Greg is the sort of player that offers maturity in not always being 'too strong' and 'too cool'. When he was blood bound, it was the best episode.
I love Eva and Jasper so much, but whenever they're having a conversation I turn up the speed to X1.5 😅
That's funny. But also deliberate character choices. If you watch them in other storytelling games they have been in. They speak normally at a regular pace. So their slow talking is purposeful, at the very least.

@@leolubke3741 They are both in another TTRPG called Eclipse. Didn't watch much of it because it just wasn't for me. But saw the way they speak and hold themselves in that one.
@@AnxietyRat Oh okay, thanks for telling! Yeah I mean after all its all just acting and both of them are very good at it. These characters choose wisely what they say and it makes sense that they chose this way of speaking
