The basic premise of Baby-face Vs Heel will always sell when you have two talented wrestlers selling their storyline conflicts. This was different Lashley did The Miz bidding at Elimination Chamber and helped The Miz beat Drew McIntyre. The Miz was dodging Lashley for a agreed upon title match so this squash match made sense from standpoint.
You gotta credit MVP for all of this. For the career of not just himself, but Bobby, Shelton, and Cedric. He turned what would've been overlooked into a pot of gold. When MVP came back in the 2020 Rumble, I was excited but I expected WWE to waste him. He's one of the few returning talents that they chose not to waste. Lashley, Benjamin, and Alexander all benefitted from his return.
