I agree. I am English and learning Swedish with my girlfriend. A lot of our conversations I may not actually know but I can guess what she says due to context of where we are, what we’re doing and her body language..
It definitely helps if you know the person because it improves your chance of being right when guessing if you know their habits and interests.
But with Korean being so different to English this guy does a great job without being able to recognise similar sounding words!

not really. she was giving him a lot of hints with her body language (head nods, pointing, hand motions, etc.) and he seems like the type to pick up on things quickly so he was able to guess more accurately. It's funnier for other videos that do this "challenge" because they don't make it that easy and legit just talk in their language to their partner without any hand gestures or nods or whatever lol

A lot of reason why Herbert is doing well is also the same reason why some people are really "good" at guessing:
I think it's because the tone of the language sometimes doesn't change at all. You know when people are saying a greeting even if you don't understand the language itself. Especially if you know the person well, you can guess what they are saying through their body language, habit, and tone. Language isn't just spoken, it's also shown through your body. Just like how your body can give away your lie, it can also show them what you want.

My boyfriend is also German and I speak German all the time to him not just because I was in Germany in total 2 years for my study, but also he doesn’t speak Japanese.
The benefit is that my german skill has been obviously improved but it’s still a struggle when i can’t tell him EVERY SINGLE WORD COMPLETELY PERFECT even if I’ve learning the language so long. Also there’s sometimes arguments when there’s misunderstanding between us caused by what I said: I mean I try to say or explain something but it sometimes wrong how to say it. Of course he always tries to get me.
So there’s not always smiles and happy emotions but there’s a lot more commitment being a bilingual couple.
How is it by your bilingual relationship?🙈
