- While Ollie’s epic Survival Series in Korea is now finished, the grind to improve his language never stops! This week we had the opportunity to interview some of Korea’s top actors about their new movie, but instead of just doing a normal press interview, we wanted to keep it fun! So it was Ollie’s time to shine - in his first ever Korean ONLY interview with some of Korea’s biggest stars... and of course he insisted on introducing them to Isaac’s toast.
올리의 엄청난 한국 생존 시리즈는 끝났지만, 한국어를 배우기 위한 노력은 계속됩니다! 이번주는 한국의 탑스타분과 새 영화에 대해 인터뷰 할 기회가 생겼는데요, 평소처럼 일반적인 인터뷰 대신 조금 재미있게 해보고 싶었어요! 그래서 올리가 진가를 발휘할 차례였죠 - 올리의 첫 한국어 인터뷰로 한국 최고의 배우님들과 대화하게 됐어요... 당연히 올리는 이삭 토스트를 소개해드리겠다고 나섰죠.
인터뷰 내내 웃으면서 함께 즐겨주신 배우님들께 감사를 전합니다. 덕분에 너무 즐거운 경험이었어요!

haha It's always great to see Pd while watching some random videos haha. He's everywhere.
It's okay because Koreans speak a foreign language that they are not good at. You don't have to be shy at all.
I tend to avoid being in every single situation that makes me feel like what Olly felt in this video. So for me, Ollie is very brave and I hope one day I could be half as brave as him.

Ollie is so cute and he needs to be praised for his hard work. I hope English speakers would also respect other foreign people who are not fluent with English in the same way we see Ollie. Some I experienced, well most, looked down or mocked for bot speaking English perfectly. Even BTS got mocked for it remember? I hope they try learning other languages other than English and know how hard it is to learn other languages. Maybe that way we understand each other BETTER with respects. Good job Ollie. 👍👍
As someone who overthinks a lot. I HATE being in this type of situation. Ollie was very brave for doing this.
@@letivarys9607 Of course, but I think what's crucial to remember is that these celebrities are just people, and I think Josh and Ollie know that better than most people, since the celebrities they interview always have good banter, and are really humble.

I was feeling second-hand embarrassment the whole time lol I also just want to say, I hope Ollie doesn't feel bad whenever he tries to communicate in Korean. Not everyone can pick up a foreign language easily and that doesn't mean you are not smart. Ollie is funny and plays around a lot, but the viewers know that he also has an intelligent and hard-working side. Like when he asked the question in English, that was such a great question. And also, Ollie is just so brave. I would never do something like this, in front of big Korean actors 😂 Btw, Kwak Do Won was so nice and patient with Ollie. Really great guy.
Yeah I do think that they have a go at him sometimes and I want to say at least he’s trying . My mum is Malaysian Chinese , I know a bit of Chinese , more than my dad and sister . I try and practice everyday . My mum still doesn’t think I’m good enough and calls me an embarrassment to her as a daughter . So please don’t always have a go at Ollie .
@@izzythewanted Rather than be embarrassed by her daughter who doesn't speak Chinese perfectly, mother should be embarrassed at her attitude towards the daughter that's trying hard.

Ollie is still so funny even when he is speaking a language he is not that familiar with, which says a lot about his humour...
I give Ollie a 1000% for trying that, in a setting of Korean speaking actors. IMPRESSIVE.
I really admire ollie for doing this series. I dont think he realizes how incredibly smart he is and how he's doing so well with a foreign language and literally being thrown into it. I've been learning ASL for 2 years now and I barely remember anything and its mostly muscle memory, but Ollie not only can he speak it, but also reads and write and is picking up stuff more each time? He's a genius and definitely deserves more credit for it. It will take me 10 years before I can order anything through sign language.
You know one more language than most people, including myself, so that's something to be proud of. Keep practicing like Ollie and you'll be fluent.

It's funny you mention learning ASL. My first language is ASL (parents are Deaf) and I am trying to learn Korean. These guys have really inspired me to do this as my sister in law is from Busan and I really need to do better in learning her first language other than a few words.

I really appreciate seeing Ollie try so hard to speak with just Korean and avoiding using English. Many English speaking tourists go around to many countries and just expect everyone to speak English and don’t put in any effort to learn the country’s language. I think that’s why people get shocked when someone actually tries to speak the language and they appreciate it, great job Ollie❤️
well i'm indonesian, and when i'm visiting other country english would be my go to language.. probability is more higher to meet someone who can speak english than other language.. ofcourse if it long term stay, i would probably learn some of basic local language, but for holiday for few days.. its too hard to learn other language (its basically take years for me to learn english)
It's not just English speakers. The problem is that people speak a first language like Russian, and then put time into learning English as a second language. If you tell them that they need to learn a third language, understandably they don't want to do it, so they just use the English that they have learned and try and get by with that. So it's kind of the fault of other people as well, don't just try to blame native English speakers. Like when I was in Bolivia, the Swedish and German people I knew struggled badly to learn Spanish, so they just kept trying to use the English that they had learned.
@@krisyannuruha5147 That's what I try to explain to people, it's absolutely not just the native English speakers who cause this problem. It's people who have learned English as a second language and spent a lot of time on it, understandably they don't want to learn yet another language on top of that. The German and Swedish speakers I know are notorious for trying to use English in South America and refusing to learn Spanish.
@@holliswilliams8426 tbh, its kinda convenien that there's one language that became standard on almost every country to speak to another person from another country, even tho its not my language.. just imagine how hard it is to visit another country if there's no one standard language, and the world wouldn't as connected as right now because there's communication barrier..

Ollie did really well considering how nerve-wracking it must have been. He's super talented at making things less awkward, actually, by being too funny. And the actors were all really sporting too.
I love how Ollie is so likeable that by the end of the interview they not only don't mind but they also all encouraged him and enjoyed his toast.

신민아만 해도 우블까지 3번째 작품이고 예전 이미연 인터뷰 중 그리 많은 작품을 했는데 다시 같이 해보고 싶은 상대역으로 이병헌을 꼽았어요. 그것만이 내세상 윤여정쌤이 이병헌이 출연한다 해서 시나리오도 안보고 결정했다 했고 한지민, 싱글라이더 공효진, 미스터션샤인 김민정 등 이병헌 때문에 출연 결정했다고 했습니다. 우블에서 차승원도 언급했어요 출연요청 왔을때 이병헌이 그 이병헌 맞냐 이병수 아니냐면서 출연하는데 어느정도 일조했단 식으로 제발회에서 언급했습니다.
남산의부장들 촬영때 김혜수가 커피차 응원도 보냈고요 김혜수는 친분 없어도 응원하는 배우에게 커피차 보내는걸로 유명하죠
배우는 선택받는 직업이라고 하죠 작가 감독 제작자만 선택하는게 아니죠 동료들의 선택도 포함됩니다
단순히 연기를 잘한다고 같이 일하고 싶어 하지 않아요 연기 잘하고 탑배우 였어도 동료들 스텝제작진들에게 함부로 하고 찌라시 대로 살았으면 동료들도 외면해요 역대로 그런 사람들 꽤 됩니다
신인시절 엄마로 나왔던 김수미쌤도 이년전 밥예능에서 자기가 오랜세월 방송해오면서 예의바른 2명이 있는데 유재석과 이병헌이라고 했고 둘은 지금까지 연락주고 받는다 했어요
단역 커뮤에서도 평가 좋은 배우고요 어느 스텝이 쓴글에 자기가 촬영현장 10년 넘게 있었지만 이병헌 같은 탑배우 못봤다고 했습니다 촬영 쉬는 시간 단역들과 같이 담배도 피우고 잘 어울린다고 그 단역들이 불편사항 말하면 제작사에 건의해서 수정된적도 있다고 그래서 이병헌과 일하면 평소에 스텝 단역에게 함부로 하던 사람도 함부로 하지 않는다고 글 쓴적 있습니다
그 외 다른 스텝도 이병헌 관심도 없던 배우인데 같이 촬영하고 나서 팬됐다고 쓴 글도 있고요
30년을 넘는 세월을 저 자리에 있는거 아무리 연기 잘해도 동료들 업계 관계자들이 찾지 않으면 못 지킵니다. 경쟁이 얼마나 쎈 곳인지 아시나요? 이병헌 옛날에 소속사 옮기면서 전소속사에서 루머 퍼트린적도 있고 물론 후에 그 소속사에서 루머 퍼트린거 인정했는데 사람들은 그 사실은 안보고 루머만 봅니다 어떻게든 끌어내리려 역바이럴까지 쓰는 곳이죠
그런 곳에서 동료들 같이 일한 스텝제작자들 감독들이 찾는거면 그것 또한 그렇게 살아왔어서 가능한거죠
몇년전 시상식장에서 이병헌은 수상자로 김윤석은 시상자로 참석했는데 수상자인 이병헌은 단체 사진 찍으려 무대서 대기중이었고 김윤석은 시상했으니 가면 되는데 기다렸다가 이병헌 양손으로 잡고 인사했어요 그게 팬들 사진에 찍혀서 올라왔습니다
물론 다른 배우들에게도 인사했겠지만 그중에서 이병헌에겐 양팔을 붙잡고 인사하더라고요
열마전 중견배우 이경진이 눈여겨 보는 후배로 이병헌 언급했어요 아름다운날들 드라마때 같이 출연했었고 당시 연기를 매력있게 열심히 해서 기억에 남고 지금도 눈여겨 보고 있다 했고
그해여름 촬영당시 수애가 이병헌에게 빠질까봐 마음 잡았다고 몇번 언급도 했었고요 영화 광해 출연했던 장광이 자기 딸 사윗감으로 눈여겨 보는 연예인 몇명 있었다고 물론 혼자 생각에 리스트 꼽아놓고 있었다고 제작년인가 작년에 미우새서 언급했는데 그중에 이병헌도 있었습니다
같은 업계에서 동료들이 더 잘알죠 현장에서도 만나고요 근데 동료 선후배가 저런 언급들 하는거면 그리 찌라시대로 살면 누가 저런 말을 하겠어요

Aw it kinda hurts my heart everytime Ollie says he's not smart or can't learn and everyone just laughs. Idk he is trying really hard and for a lot of people (me included) languages are just really difficult to learn. I hope Ollie knows he's not an idiot for not being able to pick up Korean super fast :)
I hope he doesn't feel bad, because he has so many talents, he is funny and he is charming and sophisticated in his own way.
yeah difficult to learn especiaslly when youre older... and ollie dosnt learn it every single day of his life, im assuming he does his own learning on his own time, and then practices while they film in korea which isnt every day.... where josh lived there and got to learn there and was around it every single day so it was just easier for josh to elarn since he was exposed to it more. I think ollie is doing a good job, better than i would do :p

So sad this series has ended. Ollie, you should be so proud of yourself, as someone who has lived in a foreign country (France in my case) I know how hard and intimidating it can be. You did amazingly. So glad the team doing the subtitles clued us in on what was being said for those of us who don’t speak Korean. Makes me want to go back to France and get re-immersed in the language.

The Korean actors are so humble in my opinion they were polite and when they were explained the situation they were patient and even willing to politely correct Ollie. I was laughing pretty much the entire video because Josh was nervous about Ollie doing the interviews and I was just so proud of Ollie for practicing and trying his best for this!! And I just about busted laughing as one by one the actors decided to try the food. Also how each of them complimented the channels and their first time experience with this interview. I could tell Josh just about wanted to cry with how touching their compliments were. I’m so proud to be part of the Jolly family and seeing them grow.
Honestly like James Bond, class but got smarts.

Can I just say first of all, Lee Byung Hun is so charismatic >< all the actors are so dignified but them being comfortable and joking around with Ollie was so entertaining to watch!
I love how despite Ollie's first time interviewing famous personalities in Korean, he was able to make the whole set comfortable. He's such good interviewer and talker, it's really just the language. This is the most interesting and funniest interview I have ever watched. I hope they do this again!!!

I was born in South Korea, I was adopted and moved to America when I was 5 years old and only knew 3 words in english.
My adopted family didn't speak Korean at all, not exactly ideal.
Started school in America a couple of months after moving there, again not ideal but I persevered.
I've been in America for over 50 years, and sad to say I've lost all my korean language.
Ollie speaks better korean that I can, so props to Ollie.

If you want an answer for real, the answer you will get may not be what you want to hear.
@@matthewayres1641 I would want to know. Even if it may not be the reason I want to hear. I'm a second gen Korean Canadian, and I got to inherit Korean from my parents. Why didn't you try to connect with it again? Genuinely curious.
@@esthercho6249 he said he was adopted so he didnt know a lot of korean to begin with as a child and has no family i assume and chose not to look for them. it's just a matter of identifying with the culture at that point. living in america for 50 yrs, he's probably accepted his family and had no internal conflicts of connecting with his culture as he is good. which is fine. just matter of prospective and how you identify yourself

Ollie this was really touching! You have picked up so much of the language but it’s unfair to compare yourself to people who have formally studied it in uni etc…It’s an incredibly difficult language to just ‘pick up’ and yet you’ve absorbed so much. Wow. Impressed.
big respect to the A list actors for accommodating ollie despite the slow paced interview- it is refreshing tho and non judgmental.

I just saw this series and I know it's late. But I just want to say, Ollie is sooo brave. That takes courage to do all of his missions, and I would never imagine interviewing actors in a language I am still learning. It is sooo cool and different in type of interview😂😂

To do a whole interview, in a language he doesn't feel comfortable in, shows how amazing he is. Personally, it is that possibility of looking foolish that has stopped me from practicing. Ollie was still able to joke in Korean and understand parts of the conversation so that's more impressive. Some people completely freeze so they can't joke with others.
I have to take a break every 10 seconds because this is giving me anxiety attacks 😂

I'm super late to the party, but wanted to say how great Ollie did. The only way you truly learned a language is by being completely immersed in it. I can imagine how hard it is having Josh around constantly to translate. I love how he is brave enough and willing to put himself in an embarrassing situation and just roll with it. That is usually the biggest hurdle for language learners. If he can keep that up, the sky is the limit.
