We wanted to celebrate with the school, and give an opportunity to the rest of the students who haven't been on camera to try some authentic Korean food too! And in order to cook fresh Korean Fried Chicken for hundreds of students at once, we got the help of BBQ Chicken in Korea, who flew over a whole team to the UK in order to make this happen!!

but genuine question, is there any way for fried chickens to be non halal? i mean it's chicken? the ingredients don't contain pork or anything?
@@ssom9 Alright so about halal meat that includes chicken or beef, the "halal" part is referring to how the meats are slaughtered from the animals. So, in Islam, there's specific rules called dhahibah when it comes to slaughtering the animals. So, yeah halal isn't just for NOT consuming pork but also how you slaughter the animals according to Islam laws based on the Quran.
@@ssom9 food items containing pork or pork byproducts like lard are considered _haraam_ (or forbidden), moreover, animals not slaughtered according to Islamic rituals are also considered _haraam_ or not halal.
There are some Muslims that are not too religious, so they consume non-halal products as long as they don't contain any pork, lard or gelatin.

@@-chenlanying5818 Very risky when you have so many children and uncontrolled handouts of the food. Plus, some people can develop a nut allergy during a later stage of their childhood, some even as adults. It is too much responsibility when the parents are not present ;) Kids share food too and accidents can happen. Better to avoid it altogether in such a setting where everyone is having the same meal, they can properly enjoy together without leaving anyone out.
@@-chenlanying5818 probably for the same reason they made an effort to make sure all the chickens are halal, it's to make sure all the kids have an equal experience regardless of whether they can or cannot eat it. I only know about this school because of Josh and Ollie's videos, but it seems like they care about that.

Yeah and its a Christian school too! I went to Christian school and thereβs like only one or two Muslim student in my class. I think the school cared enough to mention this to the team and they made sure they prepared halal food so everyone could eat it, itβs just amazing.

I can't even explain how overjoyed I was to hear Josh say that the sourced chicken was Halal! Halal food is a mandatory thing for all Muslims and many Muslim students wouldn't be able to enjoy Korean chicken if weren't for you guys making sure it was Halal. As a Muslim, i appreciate the fact that 40 seconds in, Josh said that "They've sourced HALAL Korean sized chickens". Like to me, that is a HUGE deal to some of the students and i really appreciate you guys for that! π It was so heartwarming to see them enjoying the food! In islam there's a specific way of how you slaughter the animal so halal chicken means that it ( the hen) had been slaughtered in that particular way to make it halal so that the muslim students if there might be any , can also enjoy the food!

Maybe someday Josh, Ollie, and the team can do a video of Halal-certified food in Korea? Just a suggestion ^^ After all, South Korea is one of the few countries in which its Halal implementation method is recognized by JAKIM, the world's strictest body in implementing the Halal certification system.

Really since it's their last day of school, and travels has became easier, i think it will be perfect for Korean Englishman team to bring the guys over to Korea and let them experience the culture firsthand ^^

I still remember when Josh was serving small pieces of Korean food to locals on the street and friends he had around London. Now he's brought Korean fried chicken to an entire school because the principal asked the channel to make it happen. I'm so happy for the growth this channel has had.

I understand the emotion but sadly being inclusive when it comes to a particular religion by excluding people of other religions is not really inclusive. There are also people who do not want to eat halal as well. See the problem? Either include all religions or just none. I would say in such situations, it is better to include none, that way everyone is on the same equal level. Just a personal opinion. :)

Josh and Ollie seemed so happy to share the success with the boys, it tells alot about their personality and how they didn't want to claim that glory for themselves and include everyone by sharing the happiness. Abilawa Andamari Actually, even though us year 11s have already graduated, we still come back to school basically everyday to complete our GCSE exams. Also year 11 is not the final year of school. You will see many of the boys come back for sixth form which is years 12-13 (ages 16-18)

the chicken being halal is such an amazing thing! as someone who's had to miss out on a lot of things due to not being able to eat the food, I'm so so glad that Muslim students were accommodated in this project. it's truly such a wonderful thing to see. especially for korean food, which is very hard to find halal! I'm so happy that all the students could enjoy this because the KE team went the extra mile to accommodate them!

In Malaysia, muslims goes to convent schools too, where it had been made a government school, although initially it was started by the Christian mercenaries. And it still has Jesus on the cross. Do yourself a favor! There are many KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) chains in the USA! From Bonchon, CM Chicken, BBQ Chicken (the one featured in the video), etc.

The crispiness is unbelievable. When you take a bite it really does make quite a loud crunching sound. Very juicy, never dry.

Abilawa Andamari no thatβs wrong. Halal meat is not that hard to come by here in the UK, especially in areas like London where the school is located, because there are large populations of Muslim people here.

Korean food isn't that popular in the UK. Only around 43% of all British people like it according to a yougov survey involving 34 different cuisines and 1000 people from 24 different countries. For the record when the average result of all 34 cuisines was combined into one whole exactly 50% liked British food dis-proving the sterio type of British food being bland. Oh and the overall average for Korean food was only 6% higher than British food with Italian, chinese and Japanese food being the 3 most popular as a whole. There are more thai, Japanese, Chinese and Indian themed restaurants in the UK than Korean ones as well as Italian and British.
The fried chicken eaten in the vid is probably fast food due to it being fried. Of course I would love to try some myself needless to say.

What a great way to end the school year, some I'm assuming won't be back as they've graduated their final year. I loved seeing how happy everyone was and it's amazing that the company helped with this whole project! Maybe they'll evben consider opening a small shop in the UK, seeing how accepted it was on such a small scale. Spread the love for Korean food! Amazing video!

@@PrograError That's good, I think considering the reactions of people on these videos it would be a good idea - the market is there. I could see tghem doing very well, as well as other Korean restaurants. I just hope none of them change tgheir food in order to fit a different market. I think authentic is the best way to go. We see how the kids and that football team reactg and enjoy the food, I hope the companies are watching as well.
