- Today we got hold of some Korean military rations and gave them to Rev. Chris... who then put us in touch with his actual UK Army Commando TWIN BROTHER... who then got us permission from the ministry of defence to film with the British Army... and here is British Soldiers trying Korean Army Rations ^^
오늘은 한국 전투식량을 구해서 크리스 신부님께 드려봤어요... 근데 신부님께서 실제로 영국 육군 특수부대 소속 쌍둥이형을 소개시켜주셨는데요... 그분께서 영국 국방부에서 영국 군인들과 촬영할 수 있도록 허가까지 받아주셨답니다... 그리하여 탄생한 한국 전투식량을 먹어본 영국 군인들의 반응 영상을 공개합니다!^^

I just love how they actually tried it first with Rev. Chris before anyone else lol. Josh is pretty clueless with Rev. Chris but is very confident when he tries it with other soldiers 🤣
Youre supposed to put the “poundcake“ in the “steamer“ as well. And put little chocolate bits, you normally get on the side, in there as well. Get the chocolate molten, and put it as a chocolate-spread on the steamed poundcake. Thats how Korean soldiers eat it.

I love how willing and open the soldiers are. Even if it's not their thing they give it a go and find something nice to say about it. If anything it just shows the one thing everyone will always bond over is food.
16년도 전역한 한국남자에요! 실제 보급으로 나오는 식량들은 아니고, px나 일반인들도 먹을 수 있게 구입가능한 유사품들 입니다. 해물짬뽕라면밥은 제가 군생활 할 때도 정말 자주 사 먹었던 건데, 반갑네요.

@@GunBangHong 20년도 전역자 입니다. 음.. 기본적으로 쇠고기 복음밥, 고추장 볶음밥, 등등이 나오며, 내용물은 건조된 상태임으로 포장지 안에 뜨거운 물을 넣어서 데우고 수분을 다시 보충함으로써 먹게 됩니다. 이 전투식량 ㄹㅇ 노맛입니다..
반대로, 운이 좋으면 다른 류의 전투식량이 나오는데, 메뉴는 때마다 다르지만 예를 들자면, 볶음김치, 소세지 볶음, 볶음밥, 아몬드 케이크, 콩가비가 기본구성이고, 조리 방법은 포장지에 달려있는 끈(?) 을 잡아 댕김으로써 윗 영상에 나온 것처럼 포장지 내부에서 뜨거운 수중기를 발생시켜서 음식을 데웁니다. 이건ㄹㅇ 꿀맛입니다. 훈련후 먹는 커피와 아몬드케이크 아주 그냥

@@impdjun 이분 말씀 조금 보충하면 후자는 즉각취식형 말씀하시는거 같구요 전자는 물 부워서 만드는 취사형인데 진짜 밥이 심각하게 노맛이라 소스에 의지해서 먹어야하고요 후자는 진짜 다양하게 들어있고 그건 그냥 줘도 먹을 정도로 맛있어요

After watching some of these reaction vids, I've gotta say that generally speaking, ordinary Britishers are some of the wittiest and most humorous people in existence. No wonder such funny sitcoms and comedy shows are coming out of UK.
It's the JOY for me, the genuine unbridled joy from Josh mainly. Introducing things he loves to his countrymen. And then their surprise and happiness discovering they really like it!
Reminds me of my youth with friends.

Interesting seeing the soldiers surprised by the noodles being cooked in a bag with a small heat pack. American MREs also have that type of heating mechanism.

@@therealnether Not used by UK forces as they have BV's in vehicles and all carry Jet Boils. You need hot water for tea...and FRH's aren't great for that.
I’m korean but i was raised in the united states. I’ve served in the US marine corps and i’ve trained with both british royal marines and south korean marines. I grew up watching british tv shows on public television and a lot of music i listen to is from the uk. Oh, and my girlfriend is welsh, but she has lived in the united states since she was 12. This is what life is like in the 21st century

Wow, I'm VERY impressed with the Korean Army rations! The taste was great and it was amazing how they had a way of heating the water in the bag/box to provide a hot meal!!

I'm Korean but I'll be the first to admit that the steam bag is just magnesium. Most military rations/ camping ration use that to heat up meals. You go to an REI and you get MRE with magnesium packs inside of them. It reacts to water activating the magnesium superheating it to crazy high temperatures. Very common... definitely not Korean magic

Was a bit shocked at how surprised they were by it tbh. The Americans have pretty much the same thing so I always assumed most NATO countries (at the very least UK/Canada) would as well. Good to see Koreas troops are fed good as well though!

In Malaysia we have that steam bag instant food. It's called Kembara. Definitely not an MRE, but it is advertising as outdoor food and emergency food. That makes it accessible to civillians

I have watched this one so many times. Was an Army wife for 23 years and often C-rations and MREs would find their way home and my kids loved them.

영국군 나오는 영상을 이 것까지 2 개를 봤는데 잠시나마 통증을 잊고 배꼽이 빠져라 웃었습니다. 정말 오랫만에 즐거운 시간 가졌네요. 감사합니다, 이런 훌륭한 영상을 만들어 줘서! / 요즘 한국군 전투식량이 이 정도라니 믿기질 않습니다. 마치 호텔 음식 같군요. 약 47년 전 본인이 군 생활 했을 때 보급 됐던 전투 식량이라곤 별사탕 넣은 작은 비닐 봉지가 들어 있는 건빵하고, 정확한 이름은 생각이 안나는데 암튼 영상에 나오는 것과 유사한 Zip Lock Pack에 건조된 잡곡이 들어 있어 여기에 뜨거운 물을 붓고 잠시 기다리면 맛있는 밥이 됩니다. 여기에 비상시(?)를 대비하여 숨겨 놓은 라면 수프를 넣고 비벼 먹으면 처음 맛 보는 고 녀석이 얼마나 맛 있던지 지금 생각해 보니 슬쩍 미소가 번집니다. 이런 전투 식량이 보급되는 이유는 유효 기간이 임박하여 재고 처리를 하는라고 그리 한 것인데 어쨌던 누이 좋고 매부 좋으니 얼마나 좋았던지... 요즘 군 생활하는 젊은이들을 보면 전투력이 너무 저하되는 것 아닌가 걱정이 됩니다. 턱 없이 짧은 복무기간, 부대 내에서의 스마튼 폰 휴대, 헤이해진 군대 기강들 등등 물론, 내가 꼰대다운 기준으로 평가해서 그렇지 사실은 반드시 그러하지 않기를 간절히 바랍니다. 월급도 많이 올라가고 개인 보급품 또한 상상을 초월할 만큼 좋아졌으니 짧은 복무기간 동안만이라도 많이 배우고 열심히 훈련에 임해 주길 바랍니다. 아울러 주제와 동떨어진 삐딱한 얘기를 장황스럽게 늘어 놓아 미안합니다.

It's amazing to see military personnel not be familiar with flameless ration heater (FRH) technology.
The heater contains finely powdered magnesium metal, alloyed with a small amount of iron, and table salt. When you add water it heats up from a chemical reaction. The US started using them in 1992, so the tech is almost 26 years old when this was filmed.
I think British have boilers in their vehicles
@@bigmoose7 We do have MRE heaters but they are rare. Our 24 hour rations are boil in the bag heated by Hexamine or personally bought Jet Boil stoves we carry in our webbing. The reason we don't generally use US MRE heaters is that we use the water used to heat the food to also give us a cup of tea at the same time. Saves wasting the water that is a logistics effort. 2ndly as already said, all British Armoured vehicles have Boiling Vessels fitted so you always have Boiling water on tap. That said the 8hour patrol rations do have a US MRE exothermic heater.

Judging by how they were freaking out you could probably create a hell of a distraction with your Korean rations in the field.
Most of the American MRE rations that I’ve had, have a heating bag like that with them. They don’t taste great but are about equal to the cheap canned counter parts (I.e. Beef stew rations are almost identical to canned beef stew)
Yeah, that is a point I like to make when people ask about the field rations. They're on the whole kinda "meh" in quality, but a lot of the civilian alternatives are much, much worse.
Some of the newer ones from when I was in were actually pretty decent. Chicken burrito bowl was probably my favorite. You even get an extra side! Very filling and great given the circumstances!
had no idea until I watched that movie on Prime, about those 13 kids stuck in that Asian cave a few years back, and after the Brit divers found them, after 10 days trapped, the Yanks offered their MREs to be dived in for the kids to survive after 10 days with no food (having survived only on water from the cave walls) - amazing kit, so if other military have the tec., why cant the Brit lads have them too... MOD, get your finger out.

This was fun to watch! I was in the US Army once upon a time when they were still using canned C-rations, and then transitioned over to MREs. I rather liked the MREs. And there was a ration heater (just add water) for those, as well. I'm surprised that the British soldiers hadn't seen ration heaters before...obviously not a feature in the British Army.

It's basically what happened in WW1, it was customary to not battle during meal times, so soliders would sorta extend their cooking times and deliberately fan the smell of cooking in the direction of the enemy
