so I think. The main character booked the most expensive hotel room to wait for that first snow on that specific day (2001th day since they met) he and his girlfriend. I assume the girlfriend is dead bc in the last scene, the book that the dude puts photograph in is called "Even the Bird leaves the World." The bird here represents the girlfriend, meaning she has passed away. The clothes he hangs can be assumed that it's his girlfriend's. At night, he dances waltz with his girlfriend's clothes as he misses her. But then in the middle, the ghost of the girlfriend appears for real and they just share that happiness of being together even though it's for a very short time. In the morning, you can see that the ghost of the girlfriend is gone and he leaves with the bitter-sweet words: "On the 2001th day, it snowed as we promised" on that post-card. . . . is MY interpretation. 이 노래 앨범 표지도 그렇고 노래 멜로디도 그렇고 들으면 들을 수록 처음엔 눈을 처음 만지는 듯 시원하고 좋았지만, 시간이 지날 수록 너무 오래 만진 듯 따갑고 아파오기 시작해 코 끝이 찡해지기 시작한다. 분명 가슴 시린 이별을 겪은 것도 아닌데, 내 마음은 마치 짓누르고 꾹 눌린 산딸기같았다.
Firstly when he asked for the most expensive room, I thought that it's something like his idea to feel himself rich or for some interesting purpose, then when he took out of the box clothes, I didn't understand why, thought maybe his clothes...whatever. Then when he started to dance with them and put on a suit I thought he is preparing for a date! So that't why he had chosen this kind of room!- I thought. After the date he had a plan to invite the girl there. And then he danced with a girl in this clothes, so I understood it all was in his imagination, then he woke up alone on the bad and I felt so sad, I thought, why he did't meet his girl, why his plans were not implemented....and then he wrote this note meaning "As we made a promise in 2001, it was snowing" and turned the photo and I saw a picture of him with a girl....and started to cry so hard...oh God. This video is incredible. (I guess, the whole meaning is that they were dating and made a promise to celebrate their anniversary in the most expensive hotel room and they imagined it would snow that day, then something happened and she died, but he kept the promise. He went there and also brought the memories about her to feel the whole atmosphere, to do this everything for her, as she wished.) It's so moving, especially with this song along. I am still crying
It's definitely an emotional song! I just wanted to add a little insight as a Korean. When he writes on the card "2001일 우리 약속 처럼 눈이 왔다". It literally translates to, "Day 2001. It snowed, like our promise,." In Korean culture, every 100 days is a significant day where the guy will prepare an event for the girl and they often exchange gifts that signify their love or commitment to each other. Kind of like how Americans have anniversaries. It started with Korean families celebrated if their newborn child survived 100 days after birth. Back then survival was so difficult and many babies died early on. If they survived 100 days it was a strong indication that the baby would survive till adulthood. The concept sort of bled onto relationships, meaning if your relationship survives 100 days there is a good chance it was continue forward. Back to the video, Him writing "day 2001" when he woke up means he got the hotel room for them on their 2000th day to celebrate over 5 years of their relationship. My interpretation of him writing, "it snowed, like our promise" means early on in their relationship they were walking near that expensive and tall hotel and it started snowing. It was the first snowfall of the year, and as the snow fell they looked at each other and promised each other on their 2000th day anniversary they would reserve the most expensive room in that hotel and dance. Snow in Korean culture especially the first snow of the season has a very romantic connotation. If you are with someone or confess to someone you like them on the day the first snow of the year starts then your relationship is blessed to last forever. The clothes of hers that he dances with are outdoor winter clothes, so you can guess they were together when the first snow of the year came during their relationship Hope that gives some additional insight! The main character booked the most expensive hotel room to wait for that first snow on that specific day (2001th day since they met) he and his girlfriend. I assume the girlfriend is dead bc in the last scene, the book that the dude puts photograph in is called "Even the Bird leaves the World." The bird here represents the girlfriend, meaning she has passed away. The clothes he hangs can be assumed that it's his girlfriend's. At night, he dances waltz with his girlfriend's clothes as he misses her. But then in the middle, the ghost of the girlfriend appears for real and they just share that happiness of being together even though it's for a very short time. In the morning, you can see that the ghost of the girlfriend is gone and he leaves with the bitter-sweet words: "On the 2001th day, it snowed as we promised" on that post-card.

Firstly when he asked for the most expensive room, I thought that it's something like his idea to feel himself rich or for some interesting purpose, then when he took out of the box clothes, I didn't understand why, thought maybe his clothes...whatever. Then when he started to dance with them and put on a suit I thought he is preparing for a date! So that't why he had chosen this kind of room!- I thought. After the date he had a plan to invite the girl there. And then he danced with a girl in this clothes, so I understood it all was in his imagination, then he woke up alone on the bad and I felt so sad, I thought, why he did't meet his girl, why his plans were not implemented....and then he wrote this note meaning "As we made a promise in 2001, it was snowing" and turned the photo and I saw a picture of him with a girl....and started to cry so hard...oh God. This video is incredible. (I guess, the whole meaning is that they were dating and made a promise to celebrate their anniversary in the most expensive hotel room and they imagined it would snow that day, then something happened and she died, but he kept the promise. He went there and also brought the memories about her to feel the whole atmosphere, to do this everything for her, as she wished.) It's so moving, especially with this song along. I am still crying

It's definitely an emotional song! I just wanted to add a little insight as a Korean. When he writes on the card "2001일 우리 약속 처럼 눈이 왔다". It literally translates to, "Day 2001. It snowed, like our promise,."
In Korean culture, every 100 days is a significant day where the guy will prepare an event for the girl and they often exchange gifts that signify their love or commitment to each other. Kind of like how Americans have anniversaries. It started with Korean families celebrated if their newborn child survived 100 days after birth. Back then survival was so difficult and many babies died early on. If they survived 100 days it was a strong indication that the baby would survive till adulthood. The concept sort of bled onto relationships, meaning if your relationship survives 100 days there is a good chance it was continue forward.
Back to the video, Him writing "day 2001" when he woke up means he got the hotel room for them on their 2000th day to celebrate over 5 years of their relationship.
My interpretation of him writing, "it snowed, like our promise" means early on in their relationship they were walking near that expensive and tall hotel and it started snowing. It was the first snowfall of the year, and as the snow fell they looked at each other and promised each other on their 2000th day anniversary they would reserve the most expensive room in that hotel and dance.
Snow in Korean culture especially the first snow of the season has a very romantic connotation. If you are with someone or confess to someone you like them on the day the first snow of the year starts then your relationship is blessed to last forever. The clothes of hers that he dances with are outdoor winter clothes, so you can guess they were together when the first snow of the year came during their relationship
