Funnily enough, I'm as old as her, and I was a fan since the beginning, I got really into her music around the song 23, and ever since, it felt like if it was me who wrote the songs, they are that relatable. But yeah, I would describe myself right now as lilac or purple, they seem like bright colours, which reflect who I am as a person but not too bright or youthful, and it always gives off the vibe of a more mature person. I think most of her songs since 23 are more of self-reflections that I enjoy to the fullest.

G-Dragons part makes me feel so comforted
All of IU's collaborations with rappers were amazing but I still think this one is the best of them all. From melody, arrangement, lyrics and the overall message that it's trying to convey just flows perfectly. I think GD's rapping style and sense of melody were important choices for this song as well.
same. I think it's so beautiful that GD is writing from the perspective of a 30 year-old and giving IU some advice even though he claims he hasn't completely figured everything out himself. In the end, he re-assures her that it's okay to be a bit lost and for it to be a continuous journey to discover yourself. It's rare to see that type of a response not just in K-Pop, but in music, period.
I am a 26 year old Korean man who has listened IU's music since I was 18. 7 years have passed through my early twenties with her music. I always have been grateful for her great performance and music but not a huge fan of her. However, recently, I started to think that IU is one of the greatest artist in this era. Besides her physical talents as a singer such as vocal skills and voice, she has a great sense of sympathy.
Same as the song "23", but deeply and more sensibly than it was, she points out the exact emotions of all the people who are in their 20s and drag them into her world. I am sure all the people who are in their age of 25 or older might have felt in the way of this song's lylics; anxiety of being older than last year, being a grown up, and feeling of uncomfortness that we are not yet fully ready for those changes. She tends to speak out her own emotions and stories into her songs, but those often make listeners tend to think as "Hey, that's what I am feeling right now, that's me!".
I thought "23" was just a coincedence at that time, thinking as a "accidental" happening in IU's music career. I thought she simply wanted to stick it to the despair and exhaustion of melting into relationships with others, which I was wrong. She is such a genius in catching out the general mentality(usually it is negative) of the people in her age and comforting them. In her song, we are not brats, nor losers who cannot find what to do. By listening to her song, I feel somewhat confidence that I am not the only one who has a hard time, and get courage.
What makes her the greatest artist above all these things is that she can blend those greatness into one decent style. She invites listeners to her world, shares her feelings with them, and gives them inspiration and courage, but her invitation(the music itself) is so catchy and easy to listen. Many artists have their own world and tend to describe it through their music, but not many of them are successful to draw listeners into their side. IU's trials never made me feel uncomfortable nor irritated. That's why I think she is such a great musician. I am already looking forward to see what she gonna make through her ages; I want to get older day by day with her music.

I have just turned 25. I was so scared of turning 25 because it feels like now I truly am not a child anymore. People around me start to get married, have proper job, but here I am still struggling to finish my bachelor, working part time, and no boyfriend. But this then when stop and look around, I realize life is not a competition. I will just go in my own pace, enjoying every single day, loving little things in life, count my blessings, and be thankful just to be alive.
I really love the line where GD said "you are not a grown up, nor a child. you are just you." It hits me so hard and make me realize that everyone will age but you will always be you! if that makes sense lol.

I'm really glad IU wasn't in a girlgroup, she has the potential to outshine other members because of her visuals and talent. And because she's a solo singer, I get to enjoy so much of her songs. Earlier translations made it seem like he was talking about himself in saying that part about being scolded and nagged, but he's actually talking about her throughout. This song holds so much significance to me. I remember it was released while I was working full time for a job agency in a role I absolutely hated it. My weight had crept up slowly to 105KG, I was going through a difficulty break up, I was living back at home with my parents and I genuinely felt like I was getting nowhere in life.
I remember one night, after a bad hookup, laying in bed and realising that I had to do something. I had to find my "happiness". This song helped me realised that not everything was lost, that I still had time to figure my life out and what I wanted.
I quit that job, I travelled, I focused on my health, I sat my University entrance exam, I passed and I began my studies in a field I was passionate about.
I'm now in my second year of University studying a Media Degree, preparing to study for a year abroad in Japan & I managed to lose the weight and return to a healthy weight of 68 KG. I can happily say, that finally at the age of 25, I like it and everything is fine.

I’ve turned 25 today and I came back for this song. I’ve discovered the same way as IU has described. I think I finally found who I am, even if it’s just a bit and I’m glad that at the end of the day, there is still me being there for me.
Lots of her views are coming from GD fans, sure, but as many others have said, she's destroying the charts on her own. She's IU. She always destroys the charts. Something else contributing towards her success is the fact that she released "Through the Night" not too long ago. Lots of attention is on IU. So the fact that she releases this song now in a collab with GD is in a way "one upping" her last release. They were very smart in their timing and it even furthers the success she'd already have had.
Of course that she is a great artist and she have success on her own but not that that fast and not that much like now, that is clear. But it shouldn't matter that much, we should just support her. I have a bad english but I hope that is clear.
