Well said
You can't really spoil a legend thats over 1500+ years old haha.
Here is an example of a great teaser, nothing is clear, but terribly interesting.
Just like the Parasite trailer
wtf are you talking about? This story is like 800 years old.
Yeah. It doesn't tell you the entire fucking plot like a bunch of really shit trailers that give the main twists, reveals and action right there. Like, what's even the point of seeing the movie if you condense the whole plot into 2 mins that you'll show to me right now
lmao yeah, these ppl need to get up to date with their arthurian legends
It scares me. Even though I read the story 25 years ago.
I like how its created in both music and cinematic to be "vaguely" intimidating/terrifying. Which is perfect because as for those who don't know its about Gawain and the Green Knight, based on Arthurian Legend, its more or less a story of fear and upholding bargains no matter how terrifying it may be. So honor is everything. Not here to spoil anything, just here to actually somewhat clarify whats happening so more people might be inclined to watch it if they would like the story.
The music fits the trailer well.
Yes! I love this legend, it's probably one of my favourite pieces of English literature and the tone of this trailer fits it so well. The legend of Sir Gawain is scary, the story is very ominous tbh but at the same some parts are actually quite funny...it is a blend of great story telling in my opinion. I have great expectations of this film..hope it's good.
but will it be as good as the old sean connery version
The trailer had my curiosity, but you got my attention. Thanks for the insight - can't wait to see it!
Yeah, I'm curious to see what they do with the original story. When I read it I did not see it with this tone and image in mind, so this looks pretty good.

@@cesarebachelli but the monster is the green knight so it makes sense to show it...
Is that the Green Knight, the newest a24-produced, genre-redefining, trope-subverting, atmospheric, dark and eerie, emotionally draining, gut wrenching, aesthetically heavy craft by post-horror auteur with an arthouse edge, dread-inducing, suspenseful build up with strong character development and gradual feeling of escalation, bone-chilling slow burn with “say more with less” approach and soul-shaking, blood-curdling, skin-crawling and nerve-wracking exercise in persistently looming dread where tension and anxiety permeates every frame as movie reaches its nail-biting, jaw-clenching and paranoia-inducing final climax, free of any cheap gore, cartoonish cgi or infantile jumpscares horror film?
Literally haven't seen another A24 film but I liked this comment for the sheer dedication it clearly took to write it.
I know I’m late but you absolutely nailed it!
A24: Uh, yes
This comment alone is a masterpiece
Yes
If your expecting LOTR your going to be disappointed. This film is symbolic, and very esoteric.
I loved this movie. Definitely hard to capture in a trailer though
this movie is gonna be regarded as the Clockwork Orange of our generation
I would argue this is actually very similar to lord of the rings, moreso the books, but the movies too. Lord of the rings was built on the foundation of old English folk tales like this so I think they share a lot of qualities.
@@makesquash Although it doesn’t feel so much fantasy like LOTR, you’re absolute correct about it taking inspiration. JRR Tolkien did a retelling of the original way before he even worked on the Hobbit or LOTR. So plenty from those books take direct or subtle inspiration from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

OK IT'S TIME TO RELEASE THIS MOVIE

That is the best trailer I've ever seen.
Perfect balance of confusion, beauty and a masterpiece of sound. The sound design is organic, part of the music, that's all I need for a trailer.
I watch this trailer everytime I make sound design and mix projects as a reference, to make sure that what I'm doing is good enough and artsy enough. Thanks whoever did the editing and sound editing.
THIS IS A GOOD TRAILER. I’m so sick of trailers being 3 minute summaries of movies that show way too much. This is perfect. I have no idea what will happen but I know I want to see it

PLEASE IM BEGGING JUST DROP THIS MASTERPIECE ALREADY
For those who don't know the tale...
"It describes how Sir Gaiwan, a knight of King Arthur''s Round Tabe, accepts a challenge from a mysterious "Green Knight" who dares any knight to strike him with his axe if he will take a return blow in a year and a day. Gawain accepts and beheads him with his blow, at which the Green Knight stands up, picks up his head and reminds Gawain of the appointed time. In his struggles to keep his bargain, Gawain demonstrates chivalry and loyalty until his honour is called into question by a test involving Lady Bertilak, the lady of the Green Knight's castle."
IN addition to that. It was adapted from an old Irish pagan tale of a giant instead of a green knight. Can probably tell where the green comes from.
Ye she offers herself to him he says no i think she kissed him or something so when the knight comes to take gawains head he basically just slices him in the neck barely and say yo dude thats for me wife. Thanks for not sleeping with her or i woulda had the whole thing lolol!!
You just copied and pasted that off Wikipedia
So what does the dude get out of the dare except get his head chopped in a year?

Literally any $100 camera...
Hey A24, why not just do a digital release for this? The pandemic is going to go on for way longer than anyone expects and there's no way this movie is going to come out when anyone will be excited for it anymore. I'm sorry, but you know this to be true.
Honestly i disagree, there are certain movies that have to be seen in the theater, and i'll wait as long as it takes
@@bozuteru2160 In light of the pandemic, I 100% disagree with that, at least in the US. If you live in another country, I understand. But here? C'mon, man. It's going to be years before we can safely go to movie theaters again.
@@theseat years? I mean I knew it was pretty bad in America but... Damn.
It’s all about experience. Films like these are supposed to be experienced in the cinema
Looking forward to seeing this on the 30th, in theaters!
Beautifully shot and presented film.
Oscars: Netflix has a 12 nominations.
a24: am I joke to you?
Still seething at how Sandler wasn’t even nominated 😤
Detroit wasn't Nominated in 2017 iit deserved it
Uncut Gems was distributed internationally with Netflix
*cough the lighthouse cough*.... I know it got nominated for cinematography but Willem Dafoe not in best supporting... come onnnnnn.
@@han__cholo Pattinson got snubbed too
Holy shit are they adapting the poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight"? One of my favourites!
Right? Badass.
I’m excited too
Lmfao I just had to read this poem for a college class and now this. The instant I seen the title was The Green Knight i thought it was a movie adaptation of that poem.
except it looks like they're gonna take it a different route
Right!! I'm so happy I had to read this for a college class
When it comes to films, I trust A24.
*MESSAGE TO THE DIRECTOR*
Bro, on gaaaaawd you better quit playing with my emotions and put this damn movie out. 😂💯
Lmao this all of us
Hope this movie elevates Dev Patel's career into the stratosphere. Such an underrated actor, needs more recognision..
He is a great actor but is he just going to be movies in which he brown washes European heritage characters.
@@3DSgeek Ok boomer.
@@jayanths1221 You can't even give me a proper answer because you know the hypocrisy of Brown washing is real. ........"Ok boomer" meme is dead and was only ever funny when used on boomers, I'm 31.
@@3DSgeek As a person of European heitage I hereby allow Dev Patel to play the role of the protagonist of this film.
@@3DSgeek OK millennial 😪
I would love if this is the beginning of an Arthurian legend cinematic universe. It always feels like movies adapting those stories try for the more realistic route with the whole roman basis for the myth. Gimme magic, Mordred, and Merlin over that any day.
hi Meow. btw hisss
Cat Meow fun fact! Last month I had my professional debut as a stage actor playing Mordred in Camelot.
@@tommygeorge2840 That sounds awesome! How did it go?
It would be a great tv series, it has incest, cheating, dragons, cuckery, all of that good stuff
Cat Meow really well! I could give you a link to the review if you want.
