wow just saw this and it’s actually a lot deeper/grittier than the trailer suggests, but in the best way. visually stunning too. pls see this movie.

A24 is the greatest film studio today and it isn’t even close. They provide so much care for all of their movies and get so excited for the vision of the DIRECTOR, not what they can change the movie into. I’ve read where they have meetings with the director of each film just so that they can grasp the director’s vision and provide a great distribution model and marketing scheme for it. Each film is different, and A24 is one of the first companies to fully realize that!

When I was working with them on this film the crew and director truly cared for everyone including the extras who showed up. If anyone had a problem it was dealt with immediately. A great company indeed.
That's also true, but I personally feel like A24 has had a better track record recently (I still thoroughly enjoy Focus Features though)
MoveBabble And yet, you failed to address the problematic, toxic whiteness that permeates a majority of their films (including this one). I hate to say it, but you should really look yourself in the mirror and check your privilege.
I just want to say that they aren't a film studio. They are in distribution, so they buy the rights to films that are already made, and then distribute them. But it is awesome that they get great movies to a wider audience.
A24 i love you
I used to own this horse (Pete). His real name is Starsky. Was such an amazing horse, and still is. Ironically he would always lean on people when fed or brushed lol. I miss him a lot, but I'm glad to see he's a real star now hahah

@@mhnoni No, we had to give him away after we lost our property. My great grandparents had Medicade, and when they passed, they lost the 17 acres we kept him on. So we gave him to a nice family in town

That is so awesome! He's such a beautiful horse. Looks exactly like a quarter horse I had who came off the tract.
I worked at the racetrack where this movie was filmed for 30 years. It closed down for good in 2019. I'm glad the backside I grew up on will always be memorialized through this film.

I find it amazing that Charley is in every single frame of the movie and that there are so few cuts. I mean, the second last scene, which is very emotional is uncut and quite long. Amazing acting and amazing filmmaking. Also love the song at the end and listen to it while running these days.

Jesus christ, get a grip. A24 just distributed this film. You should be thanking The Bureau / Film4 / The British Film Council (who actually PRODUCED the film) as well as Andrew Haigh.
Went out and bought it...fantastic performance by Charlie. Read the book...it's also great.
A24 is to live action movies, what Pixar is to animated movies.
Uh no. A24 is far more oriented towards distribution, and Pixar towards actual film production.

At the start of this trailer I saw horses and was convinced I'd never care.
But...A24 does what they do & now I want to see Lean on Pete more than I want to see tomorrow.
We’re going to be seeing a lot more Charlie Plummer after this and I cannot wait
Wow. What an amazing experience. This film really stays with you. When you see the *A24 logo,* you know it's going to be a good film. Great acting & the main character shows real resilience & restraint, throughout, while remaining so sweet, fragile & innocent, in spite of everything life throws at him. I had tears in my eyes at a few parts. If you're reading this & questioning whether to watch this film, the answer is _yes._

I just watched this movie for the third time and now I’m watching the trailer and sobbing all over again
The film is decent at best. To be honest, the toxic and problematic whiteness of the film is rather off-putting.

I saw the movie in theaters, and recently looked at why it was so poorly rated on Amazon video. Everyone was expecting a family friendly horse movie based on the trailer and were sorely disappointed 🤣 Great film. I love how A24 tries not to spoil plot twists or the true plot in their trailers.

I was fortunate enough to read the book as well as all of Willy Vlautin's novels in High School. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the The Motel Life film, I thought it was cast perfectly and Lean On Pete is following suit with it being greatly cast. Man I can't wait!

My daughter has just begged to download this as she is horse mad! So I looked up the trailer. I'm really excited because I used to volunteer at a Racehorse rehabilitation centre and know how many of these poor horses are so traumatised and messed up from greedy people hell bent on making money. Of course there are good stables who love their horses but alot cannot always know what staff are up to and then the Horse becomes deemed untouchable. Put it back with normal horses in a field to become a horse again no humans needed!! Looking forward to this film so much.😀

Wow! I have no idea what A24 is but I see everyone talking about it. All I can say is that this movie looks very good. Just the preview gives me a certain “feel” for what it will be, which is great! I’ll be shocked if I don’t like this movie. It’s on DirecTV pay per view right now, so I’m gonna watch it in a few hours.
Magnífica película. El chaval se va quedando sin referentes. Al único que puede contar lo que siente es a un caballo. Pero se queda sin él. Toda la película se la pasa peleando contra lo que le va quitando la necesidad de vivir. Película sobria. Por fin encuentra con quién compartir su angustia y poder empezar a vivir una vida más normal. Felicidades a la dirección y actores.

The Raider was pretty damn cool
I'm sorry to disagree but this movie was no where near as good as Racing Stripes to me. That movie was entertaining, good filming, interesting characters, some action. Nostalgic value. This movie was just boring. I usually love dark themes but this was just disappointing in spite of the serious tones. They have an obsession with the words "f*ck" and "sh*t," as well as drawn-out shots that make you wanna quit watching. Not to mention false advertising! Horse in the trailers, titled after the horse, a few horses in the movie, but that's it. Pete dies when there is 30 minutes left of the movie, because of the boy's stupidity. And they didn't even make a single character speak out for the poor horses. They're not just machines to gain money and entertainment, they're living beings that deserve better treatment if they're gonna be used for racing.
On to the next point. The entire movie was dull. They killed off the father to the main character, expecting it to make the audience feel sorry for Charley and to be sad, but no not for me, I felt nothing. What kind of father responds "what, do you wanna f*** her?" When his son asks if the woman in his house was his new girlfriend? All of the more important characters in this movie were assholes. The horse "trainer," Bonnie the jockey was only a little better, the father was just weird. Confusing movie! How is this thing praised? If you want a good horse movie, even a good dark movie, find it somewhere else. This is not a good movie.
