- Kenan Thompson is breaking his silence on the bombshell “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV” documentary. The “SNL” star appeared on the March 27 episode of the "Tamron Hall Show” in which he spoke about his experience as a child actor who worked on Nickelodeon, starring in staple shows like “All That” and “Kenan and Kel.” “It's tough for me because I can't really speak on things that I've never witnessed,” Kenan told Tamron, later adding, “I wasn’t really aware of a lot of it, but my heart goes out to anybody that’s been victimized or their families.”

Why is everyone more outraged at Dan than at Brian Peck. A toxic work environment does not compare to what Brian Peck did. Dan lost his career. Brian went to jail for a few months and then got a nice cushy job at Disney. What’s wrong with this picture.
We only know SOME of what Dan has done. But lets not forget all of these monsters were HIRED by Dan. There is not confirmation but Amanda Bynes definitely tweeted that when she was a child, she was impregnated by her boss…. Like Kenan said… they need to investigate more. He is not only guilty of making people uncomfortable. He was the ringleader.
I feel the same. Dan deserves what he got, but Brian Peck got off too easy. He needs to be looked at again.
What you are saying about Brian isn't wrong, he deserved so much more than he got, but that doesn't mean Dan is at all innocent.
Yeah Dan lost his career, but he also got paid like a $7m severance or something too.

Amen to that. A lot of these stories have not changed since Dan Schneider was exposed for traumatizing the Nickelodeon child stars, and that's why I pray things go further. I'm not saying everybody need to be on red alert all the time, just pay attention to certain things and keep the train moving. Yup. He didn’t try to dismiss them and pull that whole “well it didn’t happen to me so it didn’t happen.” He showed a lot of empathy and kindness towards the victims.
I like this comment. A lot of times people end up sounding insensitive for example (Ned’s Declassified cast). It could be true that some of the actors didn’t see anything. They were kids so they could’ve been complicit. Even if he just wants to disassociate himself he also didn’t align or support Dan and his actions.

@@ilikecats9886I think it’s good the documentary came out because a lot of us who heard about how creepy Dan’s shows were assumed it was another situation where producers abused all the child actors, when it was way more complex than that & explains that some of the actors actually had different experiences & were fooled into believing Dan, Brian, & that creepy production assistant Jason were actually nice people when in reality others experienced traumatic events or how Drake said Dan was one of the few to reach out to him after Brian abused him. Some of them were manipulated & it’s sad. However, it’s disgusting how anyone could ever defend predators. Whether it happened to them or not, the proof was right in front of our faces.

I don't believe I have ever seen another successful former child actor handle such a sensitive issue with such tact, poise, and candor. No attacks. No denials. The only other former Nick star to come close would be Jennette McCurdy. She tackled her experience with the same, but obviously had a very different experience from Kenan. Josh Peck was quick to jump to attacks, until recently. The cast of Boy Meets World who have a podcast, only recently expressed sorrow about support for Brian Peck. - How convenient. Most of these former child stars have avoided the conversation. Kudos to K.T.

The fact that these people manage to live any sort of lives after what they’ve taken is disgusting and giving them a platform to defend themselves rather than persecuting them is incredibly ignorant.
The one reaction that really got me was Nancy Sullivan. She played Drake's mom on Drake & Josh and you could feel the heartbreak in her post for him.
Now I gotta look her response up. I wondered about her thoughts. I was kind of hoping we’d get a reveal to the interviewees about the kid being Drake and get to see their reactions.
She was on the Amanda Show too. It’s crazy how even the adults on set and actors who worked with people who were abused like Drake didn’t know what was going on. This is how you can tell Keenan is being genuine because so many people didn’t know & had different experiences. As far as the toxic work environment goes with things like him making his employees give him massages, it sounds like more people witnessed that & just didn’t say anything because he was the boss.
BTW: Keenan knows that there are more stories about the abuse that is happening with Nickelodeon. That’s why he said, “Investigate more.”

I am glad that Kenan said to investigate more. That means Kenan doesn't trust Dan or Nickelodeon anymore. I hope that Kel speaks out, too. We need everyone from dans shows to speak out against him. The Hush Money and the threats from being banned from acting or even working in Hollywood should no longer be a threat.
@@madden8021 still while I agree that the hush money and NDAs regarding this is unacceptable, no one should ever be pressured or forced to relive a traumatic experience or experiences, people should only come forward if they are willing to do so, being forced to do so is just unacceptable and yes people can say all they want that their silence is part of the problem but forcing others to relive such experiences when they aren't ready to is just adding to whatever issues they already had.
Totally agree. Just saying "well I didn't experience it but I feel bad for them" can come off as dismissive and I appreciate that Kenan calling for more.

It’s crazy how the inappropriate creepy scenes were right in front of of our faces & we had no idea because we were kids, but any adult who saw that & let kids watch & be apart of it should be ashamed.

I adore that Keenan found something he loved at such a young age, was great at it, stayed on track, and has been able to do basically the same thing throughout his whole life. Watching him as a child on All That and now as an adult on SNL feels like we grew up together. Like he’s always been a friendly, non problematic, drama free, chill friend that’s always there. I hope he knows how loved he is.
There was more emotion in Kenna’s eyes than Dan’s, and Kenan wasn’t even there! That says soooo much.

i feel like anyone who has heard about these things would assume that there is more, especially with dan's casts from the 2000s-2010s shows but the doc was mostly about all that.

I was 12 when Kenan and Kel peaked. Now looking back upon seeing the documentary, things really did get weird after that. To see Kenan all shaken like this is so heartbreaking. Even those who weren't directly damaged are still severely affected. I broke when his memoir about Amanda was read. To him and many of the cast they considered Amanda a loved one, but due to the weight of the situation they can no longer communicate, or rather it's difficult to reconnect. I cannot explain how soul tearing it is to root for people you care about who are so far away and you can no longer talk to them because of a rift caused by abusers.
He can easily connect with her on social media. Face to face might be more difficult.
He just oozes integrity and good character. The world needs more Kenans.

... and it was brought up that a parent or guardian has to be with the kids on set to protect them.
But sometimes, it's the damn parents that are not protecting their kids or pressuring them.
The fact that he’s doing an interview and in no way pushing back on some of the allegations is wild. Nickelodeon completely failed these kids. And not bc the evidence wasn’t there it was pure negligence on behalf of the next dollar. Amanda bines ESPECIALLY should be getting all of their support right now def not her solely obviously

Thinking about these shows always made me feel so nostalgic. My cousins and I used to watch all that and the Amanda show all the time, we thought it was the funniest thing. Thats the “sunny filter” time of my life, and this just absolutely breaks my heart. We didn’t know what was happening, I feel sick that we were exposed to that sick perverted “humour”.
They felt like our friends. Just regular kids.
Plz continue to support these actors so more can come out & speak up. We as the community need to help kids get their voices heard & feel the support that they need.

It’s very sad, but what makes it really heartbreaking is that if these men could have continued with their behaviors, it would have went on til this day. Sometimes people are just sorry they got caught. Some people only apologize because eyes are on them now.
Kenan really said the perfect words and seemed so compassionate toward the victims and didn’t make anybody feel like he didn’t believe what was said. He is showing that he is a standup guy.

So let me get this straight he would go back, change his own attitude, and try to be nicer to the people he worked with. However, he would NOT FIRE those people who should NEVER be within 5,000 miles of a child. This is truly shocking.

I pray for the soul of Dan Schneider. As a mental health practitioner, what he has done throughout the years as a top executive for kids television was major. He has done a lot of damage to many people on various levels. The caveat is their going to be more feeling empowered to come forward. Truthfully, he definitely needs to be remorseful and come clean about his actions. These individuals have been traumatized by the extent of his misdeeds. Frankly, many may or is currently receiving mental health treatment as result of those misdeeds under his leadership. Additionally, I believe that he needs to be prepared for the legal ramifications in adjacent to his now tarnished career. The bible says you reap what you sow. Finally, I will say that as a leader of any organization you must be able to lead people effectively to point where you're not putting them, yourself or the organization under scrutiny.

Remember that this gross stuff happens all the time in states around the nation aswell. Right in your backyard or even in your family. Every predator feels they have some form of power. Not just executives in Hollywood.
It happens in Japan, S. Korea, India, etc., any time someone has power over another. Money and power are the causes of evil.

More people need to speak out. This is crazy to think this happened for decades. Something is seriously wrong in the industry when they only care about views and money instead of the people affected.
I'm so proud of all those speaking out for what they went through back in the day, you know? These truths need to be told. It's important to toss out the bad stuff and baggage you carry as much as it's important to hold onto the good times. I just hope in the future, a lot of child stars can find their safe places in the acting business. Because this was supposed to be that for kids, even fans. Nothing but good, hard work, comfort and fun

Yeah, Disney had dirt on their hands also. They need to explain Orlando Jones, Aaron Carter, Linsey Lohan, Shia LeBeouf. They all developed issues after the decline of their careers as children, and it had to be over something during Disney Studios.

The lessons taught in early childhood are most valuable and will actually carry us through life successfully. Unfortunately we forget them with age, time, independence, and privilege.
1. Keep your hands to yourself
2. Wait your turn
3. Treat others as you want to be treated
4. Don’t talk out of turn
They seem so elementary. But as all of these “successful” creeps are getting exposed, you see that if they just followed these principles, all of the pain they caused would have been avoided.
I'm not saying Keenan is the only one responsible, but I am saying that if people who didn't know any of the cast knew then Keenan either knew or was deliberately trying not to know what was being done. There were documentaries about this over a decade ago, but Keenan still couldn't speak on what he admits he now knows about? When did he find out?
You can't say that though because Keenan said in that interview he did really work with Dan. He was on other shows. Ned's Declassified also said the same thing which why they joked about it and are getting hate for it now. Fluffy did an interview years ago saying he didn't see anything like that but Nickelodeon did treat him like trash after a head injury.
Dan and his people have been doing that stuff and hiding it well with each others group members. If you expect everyone to come out with a story then you are wrong. Because they are not going for every kid they chose the easier targets. Or the ones suited to their taste.
It is possible they are all being paid still to keep their mouth shuts but that isn't likely. Some maybe what you say but not all.
I disagree. You can be wrapped up in your bubble, especially as a kid, and not know, especially if you're not near or working with the monsters that did this.
He even said that it happened after his tenure and All That wasn't at that point for him.
For example. My best friend and I were choir boys in the Catholic church when we were 8.
He was molested, I wasn't. I didn't know until we were in our 40's.
When did he said he knew anything was happening? He is learning about it like we are though as someone who grew up watching 50s movies and loving documentaries, I learned of how things had been done in Hollywood since day one. This isn't anything new other than the stars are now waiting until they are so old that the criminals are not able to get charged. Unfortunately I don't just blame those disgusting men and women who do the hurt but also the parents of these children. Kids may want to be in shows/movies but it's the parents responsibility to stay with them and look after then and not to blindly let their children alone with strangers. But of course money is louder than anything for so many greedy parents. This is why some kids in Hollywood act the way they do and it's crazy no one questions that ever other than blame the drinking and drugs on the "fame getting to their heads".
