    Once you’re in an emergency situation the aircraft has already failed you. At that point it’s only reason for being is to keep you alive, worry about damage and repair after you get out safely. You never want to be engine off of you can help it, you have to maintain your glide slope and airspeed in order to land safely and not having engine power makes that exponentially more difficult.

      @chaltain_7601 2 λ…„ μ „

      @Woody Meggs it was a reply to a comment, someone asked why he didn’t turn the engine off to save it from damage, when I posted the reply it went to comments instead. Lol

      Rubbish, dead stick landings are practiced all the time.

    • @chaltain_7601
      @chaltain_7601 2 λ…„ μ „

      @@rigolmgs you practice dead stick landings if you have an engine failure not so you can protect the aircraft. In a controlled environment without the added stress of abruptly losing power in a life or death situation. There is a huge difference, and why would you want to further complicate a situation on purpose when our monkey brains have a hard enough time flying aircraft without any stress?

    Excellent demonstration of how to land when you do not want to consume brand new tires on your aeroplane. I used to do that on my old Piper Tomahawk, now having Pipistrel Panthera I do not do that any more.

    The reason you don't cut power is the insurance company pays for everything and you may need to go around. If even the tip touches with engine off the engine needs to be torn down anyway.
