Congratulations to the very skilled pilot but mainly to the incredibly talented editor who put an arrow pointing at the plane, Iβm not sure if I would notice it otherwise
I was expecting him to save the prop or something. Nope, just a random arrow.
The whole video is edited π

I didn't know where to look for the landing gear, thanks for that arrow

That happen when the LG bays Automatic switch connected to the Altimeter is lock to a different click..is dangerous when you cannot override the configuration manually .the Boeing implement this override capabilities in the B-17 model during the WW2 to prevent this .. and work incredible well since it wasn't easy for a bomber that size and weight hit the ground without Landing gear.
That's a very skilled pilot to land without gear as smoothly as he did!!
And you wouldnβt have been able to appreciate that fact without the arrow pointing to the large moving object taking up 40% of your screen
I'm not so sure, the landing was pretty smooth but he completely wrote of then engine and the flaps most likely, a more experienced pilot would have killed the engine and retracted tha flaps to reduce damage and repair costs (the prop and skin are really cheap to repair whereas the engine is literally the most expensive part of an aircraft like this)
The propeller got fucked though
@@doggomcpoggo1264 the engine too, sudden stoppage like that requires a full overhaul to inspect the internals
@@ncdulo and judging by the plan id say it's a piston engine meaning that the pistons inside were screwed

This was at my home airport KGYR. Excellent German Air Force pilot who was training with LAT in Goodyear Arizona .
Vas ist dis ? German Luftwaffe pilot defecting ? Ze father land still has ein Luftwaffe ? However, I reckon that's at least $1000 per /m of skid damage to this plane . Great piloting though
@@carcaridon Arizona provides more days of flyable weather per year thus training can be completed in a shorter time frame and actually costs less.
This idiot just damaged plane lol

i cant tell but i hope youre being sarcastic
He didn't shut down the engine, the ground did
Wow, amazing and totally useful arrow pointing at the super smooth landing and bottom and nose of the plane that totally didnβt just get destroyed
Glad it helped!
@@AirCrashEncoded he's sarcastic lol
Great job by pilot.
I'd have killed engine just before touchdown.
I've heard sudden stop from prop strike can damage crankshaft destroying motor.
Agree. That said, I fly with left hand on stick and keys are on the far left in the plane, so I'd probably not be able to make a smooth landing and shut down the engine last moment during flare either...
It might be easier with planes where you have mixture control under right hand you can use to shut off, unlike rotax which can only be shut down via magnetos.
Your got it π probably needed and overhaul/rebuild anyway.
I believe killing the engine would be a bad idea just in case you accidentally float through the rest of the runway and needed that power to go around for another attempt
Am sure he killed the engine. You sound like you're a good pilot too!!
@@StrelitziaLiveries well this was Scully and he knows how to do crash landings
Great landing and the people are safe.
No, actually. He's a moron for not putting his gear down. Most general aviation aircraft have a backup system for getting the gear down. Landing gear up is one of the most common mistakes pilots of complex aircraft make (complex meaning retractable gear and constant speed propellers).
Any landing you can walk away from is good. Any landing where you can fly the plane the next day is excellent.
I just had a cool idea for landings such as these. After market or factory installed emergency landing skid plates
Yeah thatβs actually a really good idea but I donβt think that you would want to use it on small aircraft like this plane right here but maybe on larger commercial jets. Cargo jets would definitely benefit from these.
@@4thfavorite648 I just learned that the U2 plane uses titanium skids. Cirrus equips their aircraft with emergency chutes. This system is quite heavy in weight however.
Amazing
It's actually very easy to design and install the major problem is the cost. Aftermarket parts like that cost as much as a used Lamborghini Aventador.
& add an emergency runway to every airport that ends with a hanger full of packing peanuts
Bro, that took amazing skills and he didn't even break the propeller.
Thanks for the pointer, otherwise I would've missed the title of the video and the massive blank space underneath the plana
German Military trainee pilot with instructor. They crashed the gear after training the engine failure after takeoff procedure in 2016 in KGYR. both were back in the cockpit within a week
Wow good thing for the obnoxious red arrow I had no idea the plane's gear wasn't down
Ah some people dont know what a landing gear is and hence i showed it
@@AirCrashEncoded I suppose that is a fair point that some people might know nothing about planes.
This can more friction, can start spark and can become burning ππ
Gotta somehow land when the landing gear doesn't come down.
I don't think it's part of the design, probably out of necessity
Crashing causes alot of friction cupcake
@@EagleTwo758 not enough, cupcake.
A complete teardown from sudden stop is expensive. I'd risk a deadstick if conditions were right. Definately smooth though.
Hell the barfoot bandit did that 5x in a field with stumps.

Lands smoothly. Goes home. Phones lawyer.
The first time that I experience something like that was in opalocka airport Florida back in 1992 working for Wayman Comp Overhauling Lycoming and Continental engine.. was a piper Comanche .for some reason the right bay of the landing gear didn't open and the pilot didn't realize when he make the approaching to the runaway I remember was a Saturday around 11 Am with not to much to do and for some strike of luck someone in the control tower spot the airplane with one landing gear only at almost 80 feet's off the ground immediately the pilot was warned over the radio .and try another pass every body was jaw dropped couse we knew what is the aftermath of that situation Alarm was sound , firefighter in the way , we all was frozen.when and old mechanic run to the tower and intruct the pilot about make a landing on top of his pickup truck after that the pilot make another round and seriously that was the most incredible thing that I ever did see with the hep of other guy in the passenger seat half body out of the window he comunicate the pilot and the old man driving the pickup truck the turbulence behind the truck was crazy but at some point those three guys make that crazy idea works good the almost stall plane did land smooth over the red pick up truck... Back then cellphone wasn't around which is a pity.later on we just found out that this idea came from a Vietnam veteran old man who did the same thing overseas during a reckoning fly over enemy territory they use small planes for multiple task and this guy save those pilots lives risking his own with the same deed..R.I.P .. Sargent mechanic Gary F Thurman..hell of the guy who never let people down.a true hero without medals..
That's how the swiss001 landing always forgot the landing gearπ

I mean who needs extra balls for landing π¬ when you HAVE balls of your own
Deve ter dado defeito no sistema de rodas, ele aterrissou muito bem, que bom que deu certo e nΓ£o saiu ferido
He really should've killed the engine, propeller maintenance is expensive asf
Dude, once you make the runway pull the mixture turn off the fuel and shut down the motor. He turned a paint job into a new prop and engine tear down. P.S. with a low wing AC keep the flaps up too.
You couldnβt be more wrong if you tried.
You donβt cut power incase a go around is needed.
You ALWAYS use flaps to Land at the lower airspeed possible.
Stop spreading false information. Youβre not qualified.
Thank you for pointing the red arrow towards the plane, I didnβt see it at first
Yeah, killing the engine would have been optimal, but screw it...getting it down in one piece and walking away is what's most important. Well done!
Are you a pilot sir ?
@@baronedipiemonte3990 no, heβs not. You donβt kill the engine just in case you have to go around and try again.
I think he was talking about trying to save the prop but I hate to say nothing but landing gear could save that prop in this landing. The prop hangs about a half of a foot below the cockpit when operating. That prop was getting bent no matter what he did my friend...
@@kyleburlette2196 yeah, I get that.. but regardless his rationale, you still donβt shut down.
Spoiler alert... The landing gear was actually fully functional, the piolet didn't realize it wasn't extended until the prop struck the runway.
Oooh... He ALMOST cut it at the point where it wouldn't f*ck up the props.
He didnβt cut it it stopped spinning because of the damage and couldnβt spin anymore
Smoother than Ryanair with Landing Gear π€£
Very Skill Pilot , great landing.
Once youβre in an emergency situation the aircraft has already failed you. At that point itβs only reason for being is to keep you alive, worry about damage and repair after you get out safely. You never want to be engine off of you can help it, you have to maintain your glide slope and airspeed in order to land safely and not having engine power makes that exponentially more difficult.
@Woody Meggs it was a reply to a comment, someone asked why he didnβt turn the engine off to save it from damage, when I posted the reply it went to comments instead. Lol
Rubbish, dead stick landings are practiced all the time.
@@rigolmgs you practice dead stick landings if you have an engine failure not so you can protect the aircraft. In a controlled environment without the added stress of abruptly losing power in a life or death situation. There is a huge difference, and why would you want to further complicate a situation on purpose when our monkey brains have a hard enough time flying aircraft without any stress?
Who needs wheels when you can do a nice belly landing.
Broken airplane repair: $14,750
Pilot walks away: priceless
Lol 14,750 pays for and attitude indicator!

FSX Multiplayer sessions be like
Turn engine off or dead stick with flaps up before touchdown--over grass even better.
The reason you don't cut power is the insurance company pays for everything and you may need to go around. If even the tip touches with engine off the engine needs to be torn down anyway.
