This could include Till vs Masvidal. Till was in his hometown, just removed from his first ever loss (a title fight) and apparently ready to start the bounce back, and was given what was seen as "just a former lightweight", that was coming off getting dominated by Wonderboy (who Till had beaten) and a year and a half off. No one gave a dime on Masvidal. Not only Masvidal shut everyone up with the KO, but also put in motion his own career revival.
You think masvidal who was in top ten and in title contention was a sacrificial lamb to Darren till?
@@adalvldadalvld Masvidal was *not* top 10 when he fought Till. He was just outside of that spot (#11), and when he was going against #3 at the time, yes. He was intended as a sacrificial lamb, but he was the only one who didn't get that memo.
@@branlopgar When you’re sacrificial lamb you’re not gonna be just a +175 underdog. Rankings change due to inactivity. The fight before Till he fought Thomson and was ranked number 4 and till was number 8. He dropped to 11 from inactivity but was every bit a top 10 welterweight when he fought till. Till was never ranked ahead of masvidal when masvidal was active. Beating till put him right back at 5.
Till shouldn’t have beaten Wonderboy. If that fight had taken place anywhere besides England, Wonderboy would’ve won. And then Till cut that promo acting like he’d knocked him out. He was primed for getting lit up like he did following that fight.

He also beat guys like Anthony Pettis, Jim Miller, Donald Cerrone, Takanori Gomi, Michael Johnson, Melvin Guillard, Gray Maynard, Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson despite his mediocre win loss record his resume is pretty filthy.

I remember watching Macee Barber lose to Roxanne Modifery live, it was absolutely insane. Macee and her dad had every excuse in the book and they tried to overturn the fight due to her tearing a ligament in her knee

@@FilledWithDetermination not QUITE Volk tier (I consider Frank Shamrock to be the GOAT class fighter of his era and he did beat a MUCH bigger {albeit also much less experienced} Tito) but I’d say Tito was kind of like the Rich Franklin of his era, or maybe the Jan Blachowicz of his era or something along those lines. Volk is going to end up going down as one of the top 10 PFP fighters in MMA history and I don’t think Tito is at that level of greatness.

By the time ufc overtook pride, all these legends were way past their prime.
Joe Lauzon did not "officially just come on to the scene" with the win over Melvin. Dude had 10 fights in the octagon and EIGHT post fight bonus awards.

Make another list of great grappling matches in MMA/UFC. Tbh one of my favorite fights was Shields/Maia. So high level. I remember the crowd booing and wondering why. How.. was absolutely an art watch those two on the mat.
Grappling heavy fights are boring to casual fans, but to people with training or longtime viewers that know what they are watching, grappling is really enthralling. The caveat is, when grappling is used to stall and win on points, it cheapens the beauty of grappling with the intention of advancing/finishing. Long story short, I agree with you, because Maia vs. Shields was a cerebral BJJ chess match, and I enjoyed it.

This is true, before I did wrestling myself I never watched MMA because I thought it was a snoozefest lol, but now a good grappling exchange gets my heart racing as much as striking, it's just a shame not everyone can appreciate it

@MikeyXSkyline The same thing happened to me. I started gaining weight, lost all of my muscle & strength. I had no energy & no drive. I ended up getting my testosterone tested at the very end of October in 2016 & my levels were 262. I went to a different doctor 3-4 months later & she ran a bunch of tests & my levels dropped to 136.7. My testosterone levels were very low & my thyroid levels came back very low. My doctors said they've never seen anyone with low testosterone & low thyroid at the same exact time. It's usually one or the other. I couldn't imagine what he went through as a fighter dealing with hypogonadism. I bet training was a bitch & probably lost a ton of strenth & energy. He deserved to get a pass for it

I was at 269. I remember the big news being Cody dropping down a weight class but nobody really knew who would win. I had Kai but was cool if Cody had a resurgence.
@@agentorange1156 I disagree. If anything it was bad match-making on the UFC's part because while they definitely wanted Cody to win but they also wanted the fight to be a banger. Cody's manager also deserves flak for mismanaging his career by not taking any favorable match-ups (primarily wrestlers and grapplers with poor striking) and instead always going up against heavy hitters.
