I am over 70 years old and have over 20 tattoos, 1/2 of them colored and some over 20 years old. I am also of medium brown skin (Black of race) For the past 5 years "thumper" is one of the best.
That tattoo artist was so good with her! It was really perfect for a first timer.

“I saw people who look like me” . This is so important when trying to find tattoo artists for poc.
I’m white but when looking for a tattoo artist I personally didn’t feel comfortable with people who ONLY tattooed or at least featured other white people. It didn’t seem genuine or that they actually cared for me, I’m glad more tattoo artists are representing POC :)

@@alfredroa9437 When people refuse to tattoo POC or refuse to represent them they just seem bigoted and gross. It’s important to me because people who can tattoo darker skin are usually amazing, since darker skin is harder to tattoo on. It’s only a race thing because if people refuse to tattoo POC they’re racist.
@@novacainVAL i know some artists who simply just don’t feel their tattoo skills aren’t expressed well on black skin so they just refer them to another artist. Not because they’re being bigoted but because they’d much rather not disappoint the client.

I love how she didn't just do whatever. She explains everything and makes sure you know what she's doing next. Also her niceness doesn't feel forced. It seems genuine

Just got my first tattoo an hour ago. It was not that bad at all. Uncomfortable yes, but more than bearable.
I got my first tattoo about a week ago, i got it on my ankle, it basically just felt like scratching the whole time, hurting a little more when he'd go over some parts to shade it a bit more

I feel like for me the worry of getting a tattoo is the pain and most stereotypical tattoo artists seem kinda mean or intimidating but she is calm and explains everything and is so nice and if all tattoo artists were like this I think more people would get tattoos more
I am scared that if I get one, in a couple of years I am gonna hate it! Pain, to permanently stain your body doesn't sound like a good idea! I don't mean to criticise or offend or hate anyone with a tattoo. This is my opinion. Pls don't hate on me. I prefer temporary sticker tattoos.

@@anthonyacetta1551 No, not for this one- my artist had other instructions and she knows what aftercare her types of tattoos need. My artist wrapped it in cling film for the first couple hours, then let it breathe and then I rewrapped it for bed. Got up yesterday morning, gave it a clean and used Palmers Cacao butter. It's going fine so far, and it's darkened even more than when I was in the shop. It's looking so good and I love it 😊 good luck with yours if you've not had it done yet
I got my first tattoo this year and the artist was just like this: really calm, nice guy that explained every step to perfection.
I love how light and airy the studio is...so much natural light and the plants! Such a calming atmosphere

I don't have a tattoo yet but this video made me feel really confident about maybe getting my first. The artist was so kind and so patient and really took her time to make sure that everything was explained and all the options were available and got consent and really just seemed to care for the client. ☺️

I literally got my first tattoo yesterday. A little lavender plant, my garden hadlavender plants in the summer and I’d sit there, watching them grow in the summer and the bees. It was a time when I felt at peace. I’m so happy with the final piece! I went with an artist in London and she was so nice and accommodating 🥰

Whoever says that tattoos don't hurt are lying. They hurt, sometimes the hurt BAD. But to anyone who's being doubtful about getting one, if the pain was unbareable no one would be getting tattoos.
They hurt, it's uncomfortable. But you're getting something awesome out of it, so it's worth it. You feel "accomplished" when you're done. It's a great feeling.
I always describe the feeling as dragging a dull knife on a really bad sunburn. Bad feeling? Yes. But impossible to handle? Not even close.

My first tattoo artist told me that it feels like when you accidentally scratch a bad sun burn, and she also used water first to make sure I could tolerate the pain before using ink.
So like did it feel hot and kinda numb after a while or not?
@@K4t1e__ not hot, just tender., if I wasn't touching it or moving it around too much it didn't hurt all that bad, more of like the slight sting of a sun burn, but nothing else.
Also to add for people who wanna know what the pain feels like, it feels like a bad cat scratch then welps like a bee sting. Pain is bearable and you'll quickly find your tender areas😂. Don't let this scare you, just be mindful on size, design, and placement😊 good luck friends

I use tegaderm to heal my tattoo, which is the exact same thing (: their tattoo adds to how gorgeous they are and it speaks to their beautiful personality. The tattooer was amazing! She spoke on everything that I thought of and gave them the experience they deserve. I have a huge hip/thigh piece and a smallish script tattoo on my arm. Planning on getting my next one on my shoulder, then another on my other hip and some rib pieces 😊 it's hard to stop once you start, especially with the right tattooer💕

OMG, im sooo glad I came across this video...I have no idea of tattoos, I don't have any, no experience, but I am looking into getting one, for over 10 years I have this design in my head, been searching for an artist, no luck, bad experiences in having a good connection through communicating with artist I have come in contact. This artist in the video is an angel, she's awesome, I wish she was here in south California. This artist trully connected with her client in converting her idea into a reality tattoo design.

I just got my first tattoo and she’s absolutely right. It’s more uncomfortable then it it is painful but it can get painful when the artist focuses on one spot for too long. Luckily the artist I went to knew exactly when to move the needle 🥰✌🏽
