Morgan Freeman honors Denzel Washington onstage at the 47th AFI Life Achievement Award Tribute on June 6, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre. *Watch the hour-and-a-half TV special, AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A TRIBUTE TO DENZEL WASHINGTON, on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00 PM (ET/PT) on TNT. Sister network Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will also air the special in October 2019, during a night of programming dedicated to Washington’s work.*
Mahershala Ali, Chadwick Boseman, Jodie Foster, Antoine Fuqua, Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman, Michael B. Jordan, Issa Rae, Julia Roberts and Cicely Tyson all paid tribute to Washington's life and work.
Additional guests included Ed Begley, Jr., W. Kamau Bell, Joy Bryant, Joel Coen, Richard Donner, Ava DuVernay, Cary Elwes, Carl Franklin, Antoine Fuqua, David Alan Grier, Keegan-Michael Key, Martin Lawrence, Frances McDormand, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Paula Patton, Jay Pharoah, Chris Tucker and Edward Zwick.

An absolutely brilliant film. Denzel and Hackman play off each other so well. I saw an interview once where Denzel said he just stood amazed in scenes he acted in with Hackman. I'm sure Hackman regards Denzel as one of the finest actors he has worked with also!

Denzel Washington, is the epitome of what I would want my child to grow-up to be. NOT an actor, although I can't think of one movie he has ever done that he didn't give his all to play. But, what I am talking about is his character. His character, honor, beliefs, his being is an inspiration to All. I wish there were MORE people in the world like him. Thank you Denzel for everything you have give to us.

I remember first seeing Morgan Freeman as a regular in, "The Electric Company" , a children's show I use to watch with my kids after school and Denzel Washington in the television series,
"St Elsewhere". Later I saw Mr Freeman in the 1st movie I would see him in called,
"Johnny Handsome". They stood out but I had no idea of the greatness they would grow into. How fitting one should honor the other at such a prestigious event, so many years later.

Yess! Gene Hackman one of all time best. In fact, he doesn't act. He is so real, genuine, and believable that so you can't tell he is acting. That's how good he is. Definitely deserves one!

I watched Denzel on Broadway do Raisin Under The Sun; he is a powerhouse, any time that man is on stage you literally get starstruck and can't help but stay in aw of his acting chops, he was absolutely brilliant! What an experience that was.
