Unless you mean the series s, which is not the same spec as the series x in fact its likely to less powerful in some areas than the one x, whereas the ps5s are the same powerful spec but nearly $100 cheaper than the series x if you dont want a 4k blu Ray player..dont really care just wanted to clarify

Well this video didn't age well. Industry expert's and actual Developers are now saying the SSD specifically in PlayStation is the future of gaming and Teraflops as a measurement is basically a thing of the past.
Not to mention the bevy of dedicated hardware for things like audio, decompression, etc that gives it more *effective* CPU by freeing up enormous amounts of CPU load. Clock speed is such a miniscule part of the story, and TFLOPS are misleading.
Ok, i'll buy an SSD that can do this when it comes out and shove it in my pc rig.

It would depend how well it performs I think. Like Cerny mentioned, TF isnβt exactly accurate with his analogy about more CUβs at lower speeds or less CUβs at faster speeds to accomplish the same task with added benefits. So they could have gone with higher CUβs closer to the Series X at slower speeds but they would lose out on the benefits of speeding up the same process to get the same result. How significant those gains are in reality are unknown. But technically, MS can state they have the more powerful console base on TF number and whatever else but they wouldnβt be able to state they have the fastest console either which is part of their marketing alongside power. I canβt wait to see the differences between these two in action. I feel Sony put a lot more thought into achieving higher performance so we will see if there strategy can close that gap while still having many added benefits from a much much faster system configuration.

It seems like each console chose to focus on the strengths of their respective game libraries.
1. Microsoft has competitive games and cross-play with PC's, so they added Keyboard/Mouse support to Series X and included 4K 120fps because some people have PC monitors that support up to 144Hz displays. Microsoft added more GPU power to be able to push higher frame rates. The downside is their SSD isn't nearly as fast as Sony's, and they had to split the RAM into two pools (10 GB @ 560 GB/s, 6GB @ 336 GB/s). While Microsoft's Fast memory helps feed the GPU, some of that slow memory is there to *save cost*. While microsoft used a slower SSD, they were able to afford more "slower" Flash Chips (only 2.8GB/s raw speed), but more chips = more room for storing data, so MS provides a 1TB SSD, which means extra storage space.
2. Sony has a lot of exclusives that are immersive, expansive, single player open world story adventures. (God of War, Last of Us, Until Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc... come to mind here) -- These games do not *really* need 4K 120FPS -- 4K 60 is "enough" for most of these incredibly immersive single player experiences, since they're not competitive multiplayer titles that have to contend with PC Cross-Play. But they *do* need consistently fast memory, and a *much* faster SSD to eliminate loading screens. So, Sony saved money by going with a smaller GPU (36 CU's instead of 56CUs) -- but smaller chips put out less heat, so they can be clocked higher. While Microsoft has 55% *more* CU's than Sony on their GPU, The Sony GPU is *only* 16% slower (PS5 pushes 10.3 Tflops vs the Series X GPU pushing 12 Tflops). Here, the TFlop numbers can be meaningfully compared because you have *identical* GPU architectures (both are RDNA 2 GPUs). With the money Sony saved by going with a smaller GPU, Sony can provide developers with 16GB of ram that's relatively fast - @448 GB/s. The Ram being slow than Microsoft's "fast" memory (@560GB/s) doesn't matter, because it's feeding a *much* smaller GPU, so Sony doesn't have to pipe in as much data to keep all the CU's properly fed with bits. On the SSD Side, when you're loading huge immersive worlds, it really matters that your SSD and custom controller are able to keep the chips fed properly, loading tons of assets like the mountains and trees and buildings in the distance... This is why Sony spent money on a much faster SSD. Sony's SSD is smaller -- at 825GB instead of 1TB, but the Speed is nearly *2x* that of the Series X. (5.5GB/s *raw* disk speed). This will help the PS5 load in massive worlds far more efficiently. Finally, Sony put a lot of money into developing a custom Audio Engine that unlocks truly immersive directional audio, and far more advanced haptics on their controllers. Touch and Sound just brings in more of your senses to help immerse you in an experience.
*At the end of the day, It's not about which console is faster and why that's "better".* Both Microsoft and Sony made different choices *BASED ON THE TYPES OF GAMES THEY HAVE ON THE PLATFORM,* because they want you to have the best experience playing those games.
Many TV sets nowadays support 120 Hz... My TV does :). I will be using XSX for online gaming and PS5 for exclusives offline.

Itβs not a βboostβ like in traditional phones where itβll boost until it throttles down. 2.23ghz can be sustained but the gpu clock goes up or down depending on the gameβs power budget and thermal performance. Thus it goes up and down for a consistent performance across the board rather than going up and then down once it gets too hot. 2.23ghz is not a traditional βboostβ clock.

Consoles are all about taking advantage of hardware which hasn't happened much for the new Xbox. It's not about building another console.

Microsoft REALLY outdid themselves this time around when it comes to sheer power. Now they just need to outdo themselves when it comes to games.

The Novice that's the truth. All they have to do is get great games that you cant get on playstation. Not bleeding edge, battle toads, or gears. I'm fine with those games but they need great story driven games that rival sonys wonderful titles. If the rumor of Sony acquiring castlevania, mgs, and silent hill are true, it's gonna be another tough time no matter how great Xbox series X is. I love playing on my Xbox one x a lot more than my ps4 pro, but no one can truthfully say that Sony doesn't have the best first party exclusives.

The difference is virtually non-existent to the naked eye, that's what everyone doesn't seem to understand, in the end it doesn't matter, buy whichever console appeals to you and stop stressing over minor hardware differences...
To be honest I think with the new generation, this will be the rise of cross play, which in turn will kill the whole "compitition of console wars" as it doesn't matter you buy for personal preference and are still able to play 95% of games with friends despite what their gaming on. Which I thinks pretty sweet. The specs all said and done will only equal up to a very slight advantage either way.
