It's funny how it looks like they hit it with their weapons so lightly but then you remember that all of these things weigh like half a ton
8:00 the tank analogy is not entirely correct because the angles first job is to increase the chance of a ricochet but the more important thing is that when you angle the armor by 45 degrees the projectile has about .25 more than the original thickness which your projectile has to go through (The math is not perfect and change in thickness varies by angle but usually sloped armour is angled at 45 degrees) But the idea is interesting although I do not know if that would be very effective in this situation.

I love how he says “Let’s get the lightsaber”. It boggles my mind that we live in a time where this is possible. It may not be too long before we make one without a battery pack and can create a solid blade out of light and plasma.
Would be better off with a sword that turns whatever it touches to plasma. A self cooling superconductor that zaps whatever you hit into hot goo. Lightsabers are more fantasy than science fiction though.

@@adamberchtold8022 I mean the fire coming from there saber is plasma, which is also what the blades in the movies are supposedly compossed of so I guess you could call both a "controlled flame thrower"
@@Gesso64 agreed but the thing that differs the most between a real Lightsaber that the one they have created it the beam of plasma is a physical object, meaning that when it collides out other objects it hits it. If you were to hit two of those lightsabers together they will just fly through each other.

Thing is, The Hacksmith has some of the most powerful gadgets in their arsenal, they will break through anything.
I mean I guess there are some rules as they could have just gone through the box in 30 seconds with angle grinder, way more fun this way though, plasma cutter seems like cheating though.

You have to use materials that tools can cut in order to build a box for someone to use tools to destroy it. If it can be built, it can be unbuilt.

“Can’t get a flat shot” the whole deal with a D20 is that it lays on the faces
The only non sloped surface is on the bottom, like tanks they aren't round but they are angled so the flat surface still deflects things going straight towards it. A full sphere would be better but also much harder to keep still
Sloped armor can make the difference between life and death in a well-designed tank.
Sure, that is true, but that doesn't mean this isn't much better than a more cubical design.

@@bathtubmeggee7751 While true, it definitely would make a difference against things such as the hammers and such that were being used earlier in the video.
If you specifically want to make it good at surviving a full force hydraulic press then it might not help, but the point is to be as unbreakable as possible - that includes against all sources, not just one.
edit: also, a tank shoots something a lot more powerful than just a bullet, technically, but that doesn't have anything to do with the point you were making.
@@tenacity25 I understand tanks shoot a shell the size of your forearm. I meant that the slant would make a bullet ricochet off instead of pierce flat, but with a D20 and a hammer you are easily able to get a flat shot every time. And it wasn’t an insult to the design at all. It was an insult to his reasoning for it. It’s much more structurally sound. The only better you could do would be a sphere going of geometry alone. But in terms of a “flat shot” that’s the whole point of a die: to lie flat on one side for easy observation and thus easy targeting
This should be a traditional thing that this channel does every year
