I see a lot of you putting blame on yourself, stating that "Adam's fans are overwhelming him" or "Adam doesn't like his fans". I want to say, no, this is not in the slightest what the song is about. You guys are the only reason I am able to continuously make the content I want to make because you are doing something no one is asking you do and that's, watching and enjoying. When I watched this for the first time, a few years ago I knew the meaning of the whole song, depression and anxiety, but I now hear the peer pressure, the fear of reaching out for help, the exhaustion, and everything else, even things I can't find words for... I now even see the attempt of escape. I'm proud of you for getting out of this crappy mental state you showed here.

So I just rewatched “something else” and the parallels between this song and “something else” are interesting cuz in “something else” he’s telling bullies and haters that he’ll be successful and that he’s going to be successful despite their harassment. In this song, “help oh well”, he now has the fame he’d been talking about in “something else” but now it’s weighing him down almost to the point where it seems like he regrets ever telling anyone he’ll be famous or maybe regrets ever even putting himself out there to be judged by strangers across the world in an effort to be recognized. He realizes fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and regrets using that as leverage against childhood bullies and haters. Idk maybe this is obvious to everyone but I thought it was interesting

i remember watching adam when i was younger, and i was OBSESSED with "im something else". i came back to listen to that song, and found this gem that i somehow managed to just pass over when i was little.
i kid you not, this song because my #1 listened to song of ALL TIME on Spotify, in a matter of one week. i would listen to this song for countless hours a week, mostly to cope with what i was going through. walking through the school hallways, riding on the bus, car rides, i always had my headphones on and this song was ALWAYS PLAYING.
when i discovered this song i was at my absolute lowest ever. i was on thin ice of genuinely taking my life. im only 14. but fuck, highschool is so stressful for me, even more because i struggle with ADHD. I started eating less, basically starving myself. i started pushing so many people away from me because i just couldn't socialize anymore. i felt inhumane, being dragged around and out of control of my own life. but this song.. this song helped me so much bro. i think that i would be dead right now, if i didn't discover this.. art.
safe to say, im doing better now. im so much better. these past couple months have been a bumpy ride for me. but its getting better. im so happy i lived, i survived.. this song will always be a reminder that i can push through, im strong enough to push through, i can do this.

edit: 6 months later. i turn 15 a week from today. im still going through some rough times, but overall ive been getting better. slowly, but im getting better. some days i feel more upset than other days, but that's expected with healing, it takes time. ❤️‍🩹 ive had so many experiences, some good and some worse, ive met new people along the way, dropped some nasty people, and figured out what i want to do with myself. i realized that i dont want to take my life, and im happy ive come far enough to realize that. ill forever be a bit embarrassed that this song was my #1 on my Spotify wrapped, but it'll forever hold the memory of the times ive been through.

I'm looking back through the animation specifically, and i really like how the string lights in the party scene *actually* cast light onto the surroundings and really look like they glow. I love the setting for the first part of verse 2, with the blue and pink. the detail of the bodies hanging before the showtime scene was quick, but there was so much detail. I also really love the 'I wish things were simple' part with the mirror. You can truly see the difference. The Adam in the mirror is more simple, with more rounded shapes, and the Adam now has more sharp edges, and looks more worn down and tired. nice detail. also, the shading for the 'double sword' is really good. yeah, i just love the animation.

Let's be serious, Adam doesn't deserve anything close to hell.

When this song came out I was a functioning alcoholic that was working as a CNA and I was so miserable. I sent this song to my friends when I was on a bender and they staged an intervention the next day. Things weren't fixed right then and there but early the next year I prioritized my sobriety and I can happily say that I'm 945 days (2y 7m) sober and working at a much better job.
The meaning changed so much in that time and it's insane to think back to who I used to be.

Coming back to this year's later. The meaning behind the song changes so much because as I'm starting to put myself out there not only as an artist but as someone who's about to graduate and get a job all of it feels so intimidating. The part where Adam is surrounded by the block people is exactly how all of us feel when facing the real world so quickly.
But it's something we all have to face one day and overcome them.

I genuinely think this is one of the most underrated songs on this platform.

This song literally changed my life for the better.
When this song came out nearly three years ago, I decided to give it a shot. I had no clue what to expect but I liked your content so it couldn't have been bad. Holy crap, I had not been prepared. When I listened to this song and watched this animation, it elicited a feeling from me like none other. Despite the song technically being about fame and the emotional effects of it, I could still relate it to so many things in my life. I WAS NOT in the best place mentally, and this song perfectly portrayed how I felt about everything. This was the first song I had ever cried to. But... it wasn't just the song. The jaw-dropping visuals truly completed the experience. They were such an amazing and perfectly integral representation for what was being said in the song. And once the song was over, I sat there in shock for a good minute over the fact that I was crying over some drawings. Literally, d r a w i n g s. I replayed the song and this time I started singing along with the chorus. But as I was, I felt the need to look at the video because the song didn't feel complete without it. That's when I knew. That is when it all just... clicked. As I pulled my device towards me to look at the amazing world you had created using nothing but a pen and your imagination, I knew that I wanted to do that too. I said to myself, "This is it. This is what I want to do with my life." I had absolutely no previous interest in art of any kind, nor any idea of what I had wanted to do with my life, but your song inspired me like nothing before. I literally went from half panicking over the fact that I had no ideas for my future, to knowing EXACTLY what I wanted to do with my life in less than 10 minutes over some random music video. But this song and animation had such a strong emotional effect on me it filled me with an insurmountable amount of appreciation. I just instantly knew that I needed to be able to make art like this for people to enjoy. I immediately got to work. I started filling up notebooks with drawings. Trying desperately to get better. I drew this one character in particular a lot. Fast forward to today, and I haven't touched the character in over a year. I decided to take a shot at redrawing them from memory, and then found some old drawings of them and redid those as well. And HOLY CRAP. The amount of progress I have made from less than three years of practice is absolutely astounding. I can do things I would have never thought possible. Art has been such an amazing part of my life since I decided to start, and it's all thanks to you and this song. I don't know how exactly I am going to utilize my art for a career in entertainment of some sort, but I do know that I am going to do my best to live up to the amazingness I experienced with this song, no matter what it is I do. This music video will always have a very special place in my heart, and I will always adore the fact that I randomly decided my whole future in the middle of the night at age 12-13 because of it. Thank you so much Adam, and sorry for the whole mini essay.

I rewatched this three years later, and I actually get it now.
Even though, seemingly, everything is alright, it feels like there's this rush of anxiety and stress almost out of nowhere. I have almost constant anxiety attacks, and it feels as though you are just falling apart, and just trying to survive while going about your life the same way day after day after day. It goes on for so long, it just begins to feel normal, though you dare not tell anyone.
It's a constant state of grief, possibly triggered by maybe a loved one dying or something related, so keeping as many people out of your life seems like the easiest way of remaining inside of this comfort zone, so you don't have to feel that pain.
Typically, it's easier to try and shut out the negative parts of life, but when you do, they only break through stronger. I've been studying psychology for a while now (not professionally, but I have been trying to understand it better), so I've been able to read into things more.
If you struggle with intense stress and anxiety like this, I would go to your loved ones about it. It's a lot to ask, but if you tell people about this wound, they'll understand better than it seeming as though you have these random outbursts seemingly out of nowhere when they trigger that wound or anxiety.

I’m not gonna lie this song got me through so much bullying. Gave me a glimmer of hope. Sometimes it’s a little cringe to think about how I would only ever draw myself with demon horns because of this, but it gave me something to be happy about. Forever appreciate this Adam 👍

When this song came out I would religiously listen to this, when this came out I was in a shitty time of my life and this song was honestly comforting, plus your channel was always a comfort for me

God, I haven't seen this in a long time (at least a few years). I felt glad coming back to this masterpiece.

This song greatly represents the pain of fame and shows how much famous people hurt inside. People see fame and popularity as a good thing but sometimes it could be torture.

I like how his character is a lot rougher in texture and shape.

When I first heard this song in early 2020 I really loved it, and I was amazed that you were so good at music with seemingly so little experience, but that was all that I was thinking about. I didn't truly realize the deeper meaning of this song until now, re-listening to it. After struggling with my mental health for over a year and getting like five different diagnoses for a bunch of different this (idek man), I'm finally starting to recover. I hope he does get the help he's calling out for. I love how he's being honest about how he feels with being a KRplusr and that he's telling us about the crap he's gone through.
