@Lèmon Lēe Yeah, I do dream of my friends, but they just have the "role" friend assigned, so every now and then the dream-friend sort of changes faces. In the dream it is still the same person, but resembled by an other reality-friend.

I looked it up because it sounded interesting, and specifically remembered parts of the game. I'm gonna go play it again now. I think I might've even finished it.
She did a really good job in acting like a dream character. Saying random things, going along with wacky events being casual and create petty conflicts that they comply to and give an opinion that doesn't ultimately matter. The only thing that would have been more realistic is if she was like "want to go get coffee in the rocks?" and he goes "sure" and they walk into it and there is a starbucks on the other side with Joel saying "I didn't know they had a Starbucks here" and she goes "They do" and they proceed to sit down.

@@viderevero1338 Except dreams do all have meaning in a way. Dreaming is your brain's way of processing things in isolation with no external influence. They may not make sense to you, but your subconscious puts them together to make sense of things that have been happening in your life.
the message is the emotional feeling. the components rarely matter
I love how weird, disturbing, yet chill and wholesome this is. Joel inspires me to write some very random stories and come up with characters for them
Fun fact, snake holes are never dug by snakes. They're not exactly built for digging. They just take over abandoned holes. Or eat the occupants. (There are a couple if exceptions, but not in hard pack like this)

Completely relatable indeed, but not just fiction, also real life events that have nothing to do with you, I just had a dream where I was watching two really great chess players play, and they made notes to me standing there like "this could've been a move by you CrazyOrc (with my real name), brilliant".
I've not played a game of chess since I was like 10 and I only know the pure basics. I was like "wait I'm good at chess? Mmh, I guess, these guys know their shit, so I must know my shit".

A few days ago I was sitting in the parking lot of a thrift store in Yucca Valley. My son, who is 6, shouted from the backseat, "dad, let's watch the chest high wall video!" Of course such a request can not be denied. So we're happily watching and I look up to see a guy and girl carrying out a piece of furniture. It's Joel, and Molly. But I think "no, there is no way. That's as impossible as getting over a chest high wall." Turns out I was wrong. I wish I had gotten out and awkwardly said hi.
No way!! We were carrying a desk I found at that thrift store. Now it has my plants on it! Next time you see us carrying furniture come say hi :)

I had a class with Molly at this tiny community college in Michigan, definitely the last person I expected to see pop up in a Joel Haver video but that’s pretty cool!
Jokes aside, Molly did a fantastic job acting in this. And Joel of course injected his excellent awkwardness and performance humor. Definitely my fave video so far!

One thing I’ve never seen in people depicting dreams, is the constant changing of locations. One moment I’m in school, then a movie theater, than my friends house, all in the same dream and it seems normal lol.

It's so great when I dream how I meet all these interesting characters, then when I wake up I think, what an awesome dream. Then I get really sad when I realize I will never see those people again. This video captured that feeling perfectly.

I had to write a dream journal for class once. All my dreams were this weird except I died a lot, “woke up”, wrote the experience in my journal and continued the loop like I was in inception

Not a dream, but I wish it was
Back when I was an opium addict, I had this strange thing that would happen to me. I would be trying to do a task, but be so fucked up I was nodding off during. When I would nod off and fall asleep, I would seamlessly continue from reality to a dream, except the dream was the exact situation I was just in. I wouldn’t realize I had fallen asleep either. For example say I’m peeling a banana (to give to some hair.) I’d be awake, about to peel the banana when I would nod off, then in my dream (which I could not distinguish from real life) I would finish peeling the banana. Then, I would suddenly wake up confused with an unpeeled banana in my hand. Depending on the task’s length, I would go through this multiple times and it was a real mind fuck. Sometimes in the dream, I would start doing something else and then wake up at the point I started, as if I had loaded to a save point in a game.
I’m 3 years sober now
@@CitizenSnips69 thats what opium does and i love it. Unfortunately its extremely hard to get raw opium plants or parts. Heroine isn't for me because you can't live a normal life with it most times.

Joel's dreams sure have some beautiful landscape shots lined up. Mine usually involve being trapped inside a boring brick dorm room, two weeks late to a class.

I just have dreams about waking up and having a headache then reaching back to touch the back of my head to realize there's a cantaloupe sized hole in it before rushing to the washroom to see that I have no eyes and am grey.

Joel dedass amazes me the way he deconstructs concepts & creates a 1:1 in video format, like the non-sequiturs of a dream, the random bits of knowledge that being lifted from subconscious that may apply to current events, the social interactions, each thing pertaining to it's own scene, but having continuity the narrative ie the hair suddenly gaining sentience, literally so cool.
most dreamstate videos from creators are like and then this lol-random thing happened, but this was like interestingly researched, like it felt more like dream-like, like the bortuga family gathering vid

Joel's Hair gives us more character and emotion in a few minutes than some celebrities give us in their entire career. I believe Joel's Hair has had a long rough road since he was born on those rocks and made his way through the desert despite coyotes attacking, with nothing but a half eaten banana to sustain him. I hope he is doing well.
I thought this was going to gradually slide into one of those behind the scenes celebrity biopic voice overs. Missed opportunity.
