You know what, this is amazing. A guy came out of nowhere, made a crappy movie, people make fun of him up to this day, and now we have a movie all about him. It's really awesome, because he never stopped chasing his dream and this may be exactly what he's been dreaming of his entire life.

This film was surprisingly phenomenal! This is honestly a underrated masterpiece. Everyone in it did a amazing job, especially James and Dave Franco as Tommy and Greg. The thing I always think is best about this movie is that you didn't see James or Dave, you saw Tommy and Greg. Seriously, this film should've been at least nominated.
James franco is a top actor, I think he often gets overlooked because he makes wild funny movies.

To this day, still no one knows where the money came from, nor does anyone know where Tommy comes from. Only Tommy knows all.
American Exports. They sell jeans to no one, but still make insane amounts of money. He was also presumably born somewhere in Russia before imigrating to France where he worked under an abusive man for almost nothing until he managed to scrape up enough money to go to America. His last words as he borded the ship to leave were, "I'm not fucking french." He then made a living selling toys by the ports, earning the nickname Birdman for the tricks he would perform with them, making them fly up into the air. This title inspired him to base his new name off the french word for Bird, Oiseau (wah-zo). He soon realized he no longer needed a supplier for these toys and would make more money buying the merchandise himself. He did so and soon made a respectable little business out of this. Eventually he met up with a kindly older man who became something of a mentor figure to him, and taught him the ins and outs lf business, and while he was skeptical at first he was sgill understanding when the now remarkably wealthy Thomas P. Wiseaux told him that he wanted to become a movie star. This man passed away many years later and is memorialized in the credits of The Room as one of the executive producers.
At some point in that time, most likely after coming to America, Tommy was involved in a horrible car crash, barely surviving by anything more than shere luck. From that moment on he took to driving painfully slowly wherever he went.
Now you know the general outline of the story of Tommy Wiseaux. If you want more details, read The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero. It's a damn good read, as I'm sure most anybody here will tell you.

I watched this movie at the grove movie theatre in LA about half a year ago and James and Dave Franco came out and told us to enjoy the movie. I was utterly shocked. Craziest experience.

Christopher Gongora I find it really nice that two siblings are playing the lead roles because if you are friends with someone for a really long time you kinda do end up being brothers. Also, it really adds to the depth of their respective characters, they basically argue and talk to each other in the same way that brothers do.

To those who are thinking once or twice about watching this... Fuckin watch it.
I initially forced my sister and GF to watch "The Room" with me. They hated it. I mean, good laugh, but so bad! Either way, some time later my sister came to me and told me about "The Disaster Artist". I hate watching films in theatres, but I decided to give this one a go. James Franco is basically identical to Tommy Wiseau. This movie is so well done! It might not make as much sense to you if you haven't watched The Room, so I'd say do that before going to see it. Trust me, as bad as the movie is, it will make it that much better. This is one of the best films I have ever seen. It can be funny to the point you can't help but burst out in laughter, then, it goes to a point where you're unsure if laughter is appropriate. It is so well put together and it just a masterpiece in it's own right. It won't get awards or compare to something like The Silence of the Lambs, but in my opinion it is absolutely fantastic! Watch some reviews. Watch The Room. Watch this and be amazed. Fantastic :-)
Edit: It's so crazy as well, Tommy Wiseau is so mysterious. You ask yourself so many questions during it because he doesn't reveal nothing about himself. It's all speculation. Raises so many questions!
