Being a woman of betrayal and covering my ex-husband for years did not stop his infidelity. I forgave him, but he never stopped. I am a child of God and infidelity is wrong. Trust is broken and things are inmost instances gone. If he changes his ways, maybe they will work, but sometimes God will guide you in another direction, if what is happening is not of him and all will be forgiven.

It's not my place as a Christian to forgive him. He didn't cheat on me so I don't have to dwell on it. Additionally, the best thing he could have done was admit his wrong to his wife and he also decided to admit it to his congregation. The next best thing he can do is to never do it again. His wife decided to stay and clearly, she's accepted his apologies and they are working things out. What business is it of mine? There's not much else to discuss from where I stand.

I am a born again Christian and I do believe in confession and forgiveness. If I were a member of the church I would feel betrayed because it seems as though they are making this "confession" immediately after they were installed as the pastor. This is a private matter for this local church and should have been disclosed and discussed prior to him accepting the position and the members of the church should have had a chance to talk to Pastors John and Aventar about this issue prior to being offering them the positions. John said that for last 2 years his marriage and family life has been failing and he blames it on not being able to have some place to go with his hurt and not having an example of godly man in his life. When you read the Bible in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 it teaches us the qualifications of spiritual leader. John in his "confession" never took responsibility for his actions, which is what real men do. Him and his wife are blaming the devil and this other woman for John's failure. In my humble opinion this is not a "confession" but a cover up. I also think John is a classic example of being preacher but not a pastor. There is a difference (see 1 Timothy 3:1-7). I think it is situations like this that make it hard for non-Christians to trust Christ and become connected the Church. My prayer for John and Aventar is to seek wise Christian counsel and get the help they need to overcome the issues that are troubling them (Proverbs 11:4, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.").

I love John Gray, HOWEVER I believe he wasn't ready for all the "celebrity" that came his way. Too much too fast. Years ago, he was a well-respected speaker at our church's annual youth conference. The youth and adults loved him the same. Every year his sermons always packed the house. He seemed humble at the time. This was all before he met his wife, so I remember a different John Gray. Going from speaking at megachurches, to having a reality show on OWN, to pastoring his own church....all in a very short period of time. He wasn't ready and had no idea what was in front of him...Sometimes, we have to be careful what we ask for, because we'll get it and not realize it wasn't all that we thought it would be.

We spend so much time judging everything not realizing that we have issues that we have to work through ourselves. No one is perfect but GOD uses whom he chooses for his purpose.
