난 이수만선생님이 보아니가 그 때 날 보고 웃엇어. 근데 그 웃음을 아직도 잊지를 못하겠어.. 라고 하는 말이 왜이렇게 가슴을 쿵 치는지.. 세상을 움직이는 인연들이 만나서 서로를 알아본 계기가 한번의 웃음이었다는게 너무 뭉클해

미국에서 보아가 힘들어하니, 바로 돌아갈 정리하면서 니가 그정도로 얘기할정도면 이미 마음이 선거지.하며 믿어주는게 진짜 멋있는거 같다. 더 버티라고 설득하거나 뭐라고 하지 않고 존중해주는게. 그만큼 보아가 신뢰를 쌓아온거겠지 서로를 믿고 존중하는 모습이 너무 보기좋다

다른 가수들이랑 있는 이수만보면 회사 사장님 같은 느낌인데 유독 보아랑 있으면 아빠같은 느낌이 든다. ㅡ 왜?미국 가고싶어?가자 또 가자 ㅡ 이런말도 왠지 딸한테 하는 느낌 . 너 하고싶은거 다 해. 이런 분위기는 가족들이 할수있는거잖아. 진짜 회사 동료 그것도 사장님이 저런거는 힘들지 않을까. 분위기가 보아랑 있으면 딸바보 느낌든다.그래서 보아도 그 회사에 개속있던 거겠지?

수많은 가수중에 지금까지 활동하는 사람
자체가 손에 꼽음...그룹들은 해체되고 솔로는 조용히 사라지고...그와중에 보아는 미국 일본 한국 오고가며 끊임없이 앨범이나 싱글내고 쉼없이 달려왔다는게 대단함...1년을 넘지않게 항상 음악을해오고 일을해왔더라구요

SM sent BoA abroad to break the Billboard barrier, so that Girls Generation could go too and place even higher in Billboard, so that idols now can be hitting incredible numbers in the top 20. It is so sad to see newer Kpop fans not know about all the hard work that went into their faves being where they are right now. SM and BoA paved that way.

내 생각에는 지금의 오리콘처럼 빌보드 시장도 곧 그렇게 상향평준화 될거같음.. 지금 당장 아이돌가수들 어느정도 티어만 된다하더라도 메인차트 진입하는게 전혀 신기하지 않은 시대가 오고있고.. 정말로 케이팝이 전세계 최고의 음악시장이 되고 있는거 같음

@@user-en4sg3wy1o 저 분 말씀 맞아요. 수면위로 드러난 가수들만 보시면 잘 모르시겠지만 예전에는 SM에서 해외유명작곡가들에게 곡을 부탁하는 시대였지만 지금은 SM에서 커리어 쌓은 해외무명작곡가들이 그 경력을 기반으로 슈퍼스타들에게 빌보드 히트곡을 써주는 시대로 바뀌고 있어요.. 그런것부터 엔터산업의 중심자체가 이동하고 있다는 증거에요. 봉준호 아카데미 수상 등도 우연이 아니고 한국문화산업 자체가 글로벌 트렌드를 이끄는 시대가 되고 있습니다.

근데 솔직히 케이팝의 세계화에 보아가 한건 별로 없어요. 케이팝 세계화의 시작은 싸이 였고요. 보아는 일본시장에서 성공한것 밖에 없는데 그것마저 일본작곡가의 일본노래에 일본어로 부르고 철저한 일본가수로서 활동한거 같네요

보아 성공 이유에는 많은 것들이 있겠지만 대표적으로 그때 당시 일본에서 보아와 같은 10대들(아이돌 만큼 인기있던 싱어송라이터나 진짜 아이돌)과는 차별된 것으로 성공을 이룬것이 큽니다. 그 차별된 성공 요인으로는 파워풀한 춤을 추면서 동시에 부를수 있는 라이브 보컬 실력이죠.
보아 성공으로 같은 엔터 소속 동방신기가 대박 성공을 쳐서 그걸 증명해냈습니다. 그리고 그 이후로 카라가 일본으로 진출해 대박을 치며 그 이후 한국 음악, 드라마, 영화 등등 한류라는 이름으로 일본에서 크게 히트쳤죠. (물론 보아와 동방신기는 한류 카테고리는 아닙니다. 이들은 한류 물결에 편승한 것이 아니라 일본에서 데뷔해 작은 무대부터 쌓아 올라온 케이스입니다.)
우리나라 기업들이 일본에서의 성공 증명을 눈으로 보고 줄줄이 진출하여 대박친겁니다. 그 초행길. 보아가 닦은건 누구나 인정일겁니다. 오리콘1위. 홍백가합전 출연 등등과 같은 결과로 증명해냈으니까요.
그래서 춤, 랩, 댄스가 다 되는 완성이 높은 아티스트들이 지금 불리우는 kpop스러움을 가지고 일본으로 진출합니다. 방탄소년단, 블랙핑크, 트와이스(하이브, YG, JYP) 거대 엔터들이 일본으로 진출하죠. 그리고 그 발판으로 kpop 스러움이 아시아 뿐 아니라 미국 남미 유럽 등등 세계에서 빌보드 씹어먹고 하루하루 화제성을 갈아 치우고 있습니다.
싸이가 빌보드 2위까지 찍고 후에 본인도 이렇게 될줄 몰랐다고 하죠. 싸이는 그저 싸이스러운 앨범과 뮤비를 찍었을뿐이니까요. 보아도 보아스러운 안무와 무대를 일본에서 했고 그게 대박이 난것입니다. 지금의 방탄소년단도 방탄소년단 스러움이 있듯이 블랙핑크가 블랙핑크 스러운것이 있듯이. 그렇게 본인들 스러운것을 노력해서 올린 결과물이고 모두가 큰 길을 닦은 아티스트들 이라는 겁니다.
결론 : 보아가 일본 내에서 누구도 예상치 못한 성공 길 닦고 뉴스 보도 타고 그 뒤 동방신기도 또 대박침. 에스엠 그때 돈 많이 벌었쥬. 그 이후 한류 물결 타고 음악, 드라마, 영화 알려짐. 이 이후로 아이돌들이 내수만 집중하는게 아니라 해외(일본 시장 포함 아시아) 진출. 그러다 kpop 뭐여 네가 뭔데 자꾸 듣고 보게해 하는 매력에 전 세계인 다 빠져서 국내 팬들 포도알 없어짐 ㅅㄱ요.
근데.. 이걸 ㅇㅈ안하면 어떤걸 인정합니까?

이수만이 걸어가면서 어린 보아한테 해주는 말이 참 어른같네요. 어쩌면 실패일지도 모르는 일본시장진출에 어린 소녀가 전부를 걸었고 또 실패했을시 그녀가 받을 상처도 염려하여 설사 실패한다해도 이 시간이 돌아보면 절대 도움이 될거라고. 이수만이 어린보아에게 해줄수있던 가장 큰 응원이자 배려이자 조언이었네요.

뭔 손익 따지지않고? 보아가 솔로로 벌어준 돈이 얼마인데? ㅋㅋㅋ 심지어 에셈 내놓는 애들 다 망하던 에셈 암흑시절 보아가 먹여살리고 미국 진출 준비 한다고 국내 공백기 생겼을때도 그 당시 돈으로 몇백억씩 기본으로 벌어준 게 보아임; 보아가 에셈에 엄청나게 벌어주고 또 기여한게 많으니 대우 해주는 거지 손익 따지지않고는 말도 안되는 소리고 솔까 에셈은 보아가 하고싶을때까지 뭐든 전폭적으로 지원해줘도 충분히 남는 장사임
남는 장사가 뭐임? 황금알에 에셈 브랜드 가치 상승까지 돈으로 따질수없는 것까지 생각하면 이수만이 애정 안할수가 없지.. 안하면 오히려 돌맞아도 할말없음
어린 보아가 그 악질 안티와 악플러들한테 무슨 짓까지 당하면서 산전수전 다 겪고도 그 엄청난 돈을 벌어다줬는데.. 보아 유학가고싶다 한것도 그 산전수전에다 미친 스케줄로 인해 몸과 마음이 다 상해서 한말이었는데 그냥 좀 쉬게 해주면 될것을 기어코 미국진출 시켜서 또 고생이란 고생 다 시키면서 그 와중 일본 활동 장거리 비행 시키면서 돈벌게 하고 한국활동은 공백기 만들어서 욕이란 욕은 보아가 다 듣게 만들었구만
유노윤호도 예전에 비슷하게 말한 적 있지만 보아가 힘들다 그만 하고싶다 말하면 그건 그냥 힘든게 아니라 진짜 힘든거다라고 이수만이나 주변 스텝들이 말하는 이유가 있음.
그리고 무엇보다 에셈 지들도 알고도 남지.. 보아같은 애는 다시 만나기 힘들다는 걸..
물론 이수만이 비지니스적인 부분은 물론 인간적으로 보아를 높게 평가하고 애정해주는 부분에선 고맙기도 하고 배울 점도 있다고 생각함.. 그러니 보아도 신뢰하고 지금까지 의리 지키는 걸테고..
진짜 오랫동안 보아가 그렇게 돈 많이 벌어주고 회사에 기여 해도 이상한 헛바람 안들고 성실하고 책임감 강한 외골수 기질이었던 게 이수만에겐 어떻게 보면 천운이었음.. 그리고 그걸 이수만도 너무 잘 알고있어서 보아가 없었으면 지금의 에셈은 없다라고 말한거고

@@user-jo7ch4lw8u 미국 진출이 흑자 볼 거라고 생각하거나 이수만의 개인적 욕심 때문에 보아를 보낸 거 같지 않은데요. 당시에 보아가 아예 쉬었다면 2010년대의 보아는 지금과 많이 달랐을 수도 있어요. 미국 진출 통해서 리프레쉬한 부분도 없지 않고, 활동 당시에는 힘들어 했지만 미국 1집을 보아가 많이 애정해서 콘서트에서 한동안 자주 부르기도 했고요. 그리고 보아를 보낸 게 아니라 보아한테 권유를 한 거죠. 당시 보아 위치가 이수만이 가라고 강요한다고 네네 하고 갈 위치도 아니었어요.

There's a reason why SM is considered as a "Big 3" in the entertainment industry. I've always said this whenever it comes to SM and their groups, they're always ahead of their time. They're the trend setters, pave makers, and industry standard because they don't just settle for what is trending in the now. A lot of groups from SM were called failed groups when they started but look at those groups now. SuJu just had their 15th anniversary. BoA is 22 years in the industry. TVXQ, Shinee, and even the idols from their 3rd gen are still flourishing while some groups don't even last long despite their popularity.
SM has a lot of issues as well, don't get me wrong, but you can't discredit the FACT that they have good artists with a long record of "longetivity" in an industry that has a usual life span of 5-7 years. So, new KPop fans should listen and learn. Don't respect the older gens when they're the ones who made it possible for you to even KNOW of your idols. Coz honestly, did you think Asia knew about KPop back in the early 90s? Barely. Artists like BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, and SNSD had to work hard to pave the way in the untapped global market for the idols you love to walk on them now.

But didn't you know that there was BoA, Psy, Wonder Girls, SNSD and suju who were literally the first KPOP breakthrough in the US market? They still made it even without too much of a help from the Internet. Those people walk, so your faves could run freely. Yes, their fandom ain't huge but they still have a solid fandom out there.

보아부터 에프엑스정도까지 이수만 대표가 전반적으로 책임지고 프로듀싱했던 시기가 겉은 화려하고 속은 알찼던 sm의 황금기였던 것 같음.
그래서 늘 지금같은 인프라가 갖춰진 환경에서 나왔으면,하는 아쉬움이 있지만 동시에 k팝이 지금 이정도의 위치까지 올라갈 수 있도록 초석을 다진 가수들이라 자랑스러움👏🏻

I know this is BoA’s show but as a NCTzen especially listening LSM talk about the global aspect of Kpop makes me understand his point of view regarding NCT.
This man must’ve planned for MANY years before NCT was finally introduced. Like you can see how he wants to keep moving forward, inventing new dances and doesn’t want to settle for one trend but also MAKE THEM.
I now see why he is Taeyong’s role model and why he’s so loved by every SM artist.

It is true, coz NCT's concept was a second trial already, and glad it succeeded. NCT's concept was the original concept for SJ thats why if you notice SJ had the first chinese members, and Henry and Zhoumi was debuted later too, but the people didnt buy that time. Glad that SM really pushed that concept to NCT and finally even though at first people are hesistant about it but later on accepted it.
And I would really give credit to NCT members for making this concept a success, each members worked so hard for this concept to succeed.
But at the end of the day, i truly believe SM Ent is always ahead of its time, and I am loving it as a SM Stan =)

한국대중음악의 역사는 훨씬 오래됐지만 kpop의 역사는 여기서부터, 이 둘로부터네. 지금 kpop이라 불리는 퍼포먼스, 아티스트의 탄생과 육성, 활동의 틀 자체를 만들어 일반화 시킨게 이 둘. 다른 시장에서 어떤 성공을 거둬도 당분간은 이 틀이 아닌 곳에서 탄생한 kpop 스타는 보기 힘들듯. 후배들의 성공이 다 보아,이수만 덕은 아닌데 이 둘 아니었으면 지금의 후배들이 어떤 모습일까 가늠 자체가 안됨

Lee soo man seems so fatherly. He has such a great mind. He really creates innovative concepts, and even if it fails however many times like what happened to suju, he tries it again for nct and despite the backlash, he doesnt give up. No wonder sm is at the level it is now. I’m really surprised by this video. SM stans often made him out to be a bad guy who mistreat his artists. But I think SM isnt that bad, there is a level of freedom and care that the artists receive and currently it’s pretty satisfactory

When talking about paving the way - it's not about being successful when walking that way. It's the people who made it so you CAN walk that way.
And no matter how much stans dislike Boa's videos and flood it with hate comments enough to force the company to delete it and repost it, Boa did pave the way. She walked the path no one dared tread before. She opened the doors. She might've failed to conquer the world, but damn did she fricking paved the way and she deserves her crown.
There would be no Korean Wave if it weren't for the people who DARED to make waves. The rest followed the wave, but Boa was the water that started the ripples in the usually still waters of Korean Pop Entertainment.

It’s really rare to see LSM in any program or show compared to the bosses of other big4. I can understand why there’s some issues within the company and that’s because LSM is a more business visionary oriented person and he did have a great insights when it comes to running a company and it has proven to be successful under his leadership. There’s something that we can learn from this boss. Since Netflix have already made documentaries for K-Pop related idols perhaps they should also produce a documentary about the Bosses behind the Hallyu of K-pop.

I love that they talked about her Japan and US debut here. I personally always felt the US debut was not planned very well -- it was like a flash of lightning (she even agrees it was too sudden). There was a recession at the time and BoA was only marketed to Asian-American audiences, which didn't help her exposure to the broader mainstream media. She was also promoting a best-of album and new single in Japan at the same time. It's crazy seeing BTS' current stardom (although it was made possible by their fandom) and wondering if only in a different time, would BoA have had achieved the same success.

But even so, backlash at home shouldn't have deterred her US promotions -- the album was aimed at the Western market, not Asian. 솔직히 이수만이 아니였다면 지금 아이돌들 미국 진출 가능하지도 않았을 듯 이렇게 일본 같은 나라에 진출부터 열심히 다 깔아놨으니 케이팝을 퍼뜨린 거고 그 주변 국가들까지 케이팝이 자리매김을 했으니 그 경로를 타고 운 좋게 미국 진출을 했다고 생각함 이수만이 없었더라면 지금의 케이팝은 없지 않았을까 싶음 진짜 대단하긴 한 듯 사업은 아무나 하는게 아니라는걸 다시 한 번 느꼈다 ...

동방신기 일본 첫무대로 백화점 계단에서 proud 부른걸로 아는데 고속도로까진 아니지 않나싶네요.

보아는 황무지를 개척하고 산속에 터널을 건설해서 고속도를 만들었고. 동방신기는 그 도로를 타고 무한질주 하다가 성에 안차서, 활주로를 뚫고 공항을 만들었고. 그 공항을 천프로 이용한 것이 빅뱅과 카라!

@@Mix-9 길 닦고 고속도로 만든거 맞아요ㅋㅋ동방신기가 일본 진출할때가 2005년인데 그때 보아 앨범,싱글 오리콘 1위하고 아레나 돌고 베스트앨범 월드차트1위해서 또 뉴스 나오고 보아로 인해서 한국 음악이랑 아이돌 시스템에 조명가고 난리였는데.. 동방 일본 데뷔 당시에도 보아 소속사 후배라고 관심갖는 사람들도 있었고. 남자 아이돌로서 진출할때 고생한건 그룹으로서 다른 일인거고 굳이 한국가수들,케이팝이 일본에 진출하는데에 영향력 말하고있는데 거기다가 고속도로까진 아닌거같네요 하는건 무슨 생각일까ㅋㅋㅋ

I could say BoA is definitely taking LSM's position instead of Yunho in their previous episode conversation hahaha. When I saw the video of Sooman giving inspiration to BoA, I can feel his great respect not only for her talent but also as a person. Truly a great teacher can create a great student.
