Many years ago, Brian David Gilbert and Jonah Scott talked about how most of ABBA's music could be sung by Halloween villains. This year, they turned that 3 minute conversation into a full album.

Imagine a gothic horror novel called "Gilbert"
Good to have you here, i want to propose to you a new way of looking at it. Dr. Frankenstein was the creature's creator aka its dad, which, legally, would make the creature a Frankenstein. So, looking at it this way, you could argue that the monster is called Frankenstein.

Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me" that's what I meant; the line while pretty raw for ABBA is in line with Frankenstein

Honestly this is my favourite of the album, it adds a completely different mood to the original. The vunerability of that first "gimme, gimme, gimme", the gentle desperation in the voice, it really feels much more lonely, like the desire to create/have a man is not to find a way to cheat death or a way to find love, but a way to end the loneliness.
10/10 BDG, masterpiece
I'm having a difficult time choosing a favorite between this and Lay All Your Blood on Me.
@@SpectralArchivist i think it depends on what you prefer. I'm a man after midnight staying up to catch the release
Nothing like starting a song with a needed dig at adoptive incest to really set the mood!
Also I keep hearing this and think that the Monster is gonna say "EVERY DAY I READ EMAILS!!!"...Truly a fate worse than iceberg-based self-immolation.
"Dearest sister/wife" hits too hard, but don't forget that they also call each other 'Cousin'
I’m reading Frankenstein now and…why didn’t anyone tell me the monster only speaks French? That’s the best thing I’ve learned in my life.
Yea, Abba and Frankenstein is weirdly a massive throwback to set design.
Why are people liking this incredibly specific thing? I mean go off but WHAT.
this is very good
"*here comes that incredible synth riff*" in the closed captions got me
I'm going to tell my kids, this was the original that inspired the ABBA songs
Absolutely my favorite of the Album with Lay all your blood on me being a close second, I love how he starts full of grief and vulnerable as if begging for his research to pay off with the first gimme gimme gimme and talking hopelessly about how lonely he is, only to get much much more confident once he has succeeded and talking arrogantly about what once issues of solitude by flexing about his ability to play god.
'Gimme Gimme Gimme a MAaAaAAaaAnN after midnight' that first 'man' was just pure bliss
Finally Vic's true talent as Swedish rock superstar given the attention it deserves. Everyone always gets so hung up on undead monster thing
I love that the monster is wearing a polo shirt
This is the #1 cover where I genuinely forget the actual lyrics and always sing these instead XD
