my theory is that the people who have owned the house overtime end up in financial ruin because they’re so bad with their money that they bought a massive villa without the means to maintain it

if they can afford the construction , the maintenance of the property would not be nearly as much as it is for us these days. more money would probably be spent on his food, drink, luxury items, etc. the quality of the materials used to build them and especially with this house, was extremely high and would be much less intense to maintain like modern materials which wear and fail very easily

This is pretty much the only ghost hunting show I like. Shame it ended. A lot of network ghost hunting shows play up the drama or fabricate events and it’s really obvious. But I love this dynamic of a staunch skeptic and a big believer, I get the impression nothing is faked and whenever Ryan hears a voice in the spirit box or a whisper, he actually believes he hears words and not just explainable noises that vaguely sound like words that the brain then fills in the consonants of, which is what the noises and radio static actually are. If you WANT to hear something, you’ll hear something.

nobody wants to hear scary things. lots of reported sightings of Ghosts are reported from people tht are just casually staying there and have no mental illness. it's not because you want to, those things actually exist.
I doubt so many people would report the exact same things about a place because they want to believe it.
let's say you watch a movie tht got you to want to believe in fairies, you still will not believe in it and will not hallucinate hearing fairies.
lots of evidence on this channel just simply can't be explained by any other way. a 'wind' does not make for a compelling denying evidence. nor does saying 'i believe in science'. because so many things of the paranormal have been proven in this channel itself.

FWIW, back in 1970, I and two classmates went to photograph the exterior of Villa Montezuma as part of a High School architecture project at Patrick Henry HS. We had smoked a little weed and were skulking around outside shooting close-up detail of all the architectural features of the Villa when a friendly old black gentleman introduced himself as the caretaker and asked us if we wanted the grand tour. He filled our heads with stories of how the original owner, Jesse Shepard, was a concert pianist who was light in the loafers and had a live-in "partner." Evidently the neighbors began to catch wind of their relationship, so they quickly sold the Villa Montezuma, and moved to Europe before they got lynched for "buttfuckin'". The old place was supposedly haunted by a ghost. A butler serving renters Mr & Mrs Franklin Lynch during the 1920s. The story was that this butler was smitten with a young part-time maid (much younger) the Lynches had on retainer for occasional gatherings and light housekeeping. When the maid strongly rebuffed the butler's advances and announced that she was getting married and would be leaving the Lynch's employ, he grew despondent and days later blew his brains out in the garden. The patch of ground drenched in the butler's blood remained barren from that day forward. I thought that story had a nice effect, but it was later revised to have the butler hanging himself from the balcony rail outside the observation tower. Knowing architecture from that period, I know that the exterior railing is only 36" tall and is strictly ornamental. It could have never supported the weight of a grown man throwing himself out the window of the 3 floor observation tower. Also, the balcony is a facade and the windows are all fixed plate and un-openable. The stairway could have accommodated enough of a drop to hang oneself, but there was no structural member from which to tie off a rope from above. Another mistaken tale was that Jesse Shepard died mysteriously while giving a piano recital in his home. But that wasn't in the Villa Montezuma. It was a place that Shepard and his partner, Lawrence Tonner, shared in Los Angeles in 1927. So anyway, that's what I was told by the caretaker. BTW, Tonner probably shat himself when he discovered his boyfriend had croaked in an upright seated position at the piano. WEIRD.

I love Shane's approach. Being a denier (skeptic seems a bit weak for the level of dismissal Shane employs), Shane is able to openly offer things that would make believers and even some skeptics very uncomfortable. Like if there's rumor of a demon that rips people limb from limb, here comes Shane, "Yeah, come on, rip my arm off, you won't." It works for him because he doesn't think there's even the most remote chance of that happening. Makes for some really fun moments.
these entities also feed off fear. It gives them energy and strengthens them. by being a denier, these entities can’t feed off his fear. because he has none. so it works for him.
