Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel!
In todayβs video I want to show you on how to start up your Cessna 172 from cold and dark, fly a traffic pattern by using all necessary checklist and then again shutting her down after landing.
Iβll be using the original checklist given by Cessna. With the used checklists I want to get a better and deeper understanding of what you are actually with your plane. It is very important to me that you practice using the checklists as given to be well prepare for your first flight with your instructor. Use this video as a reference and train with your simulator at home as often as you can. The easier it will be for you during your training.
More such training videos with the necessary checklists will follow!
I hope you enjoyed this video!
Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this video!
Wishing you all the best!
Your "Captain" Joe

Who wants to see Captain Joe flying the 747 8 Intercontinental in MFS2020?
All in good time! One step at a timeπ
@@flywithcaptainjoe We will wait......
And I have a question, you said you are from Germany, I am from The Netherlands can you speak Dutchπ€
Ich spreche auch ein bisschen deutsch.
me me
Simmers feel being tortured when flying the MSFS Airliners. What RL pilots gonna think about them?
Captain Joe donβt forget the A320 NEO I the sim. I wonder if the same procedures apply like the 320 CEO
Who else just absolutely loves Captain Joeβs videos?
Means a lot! Thanks buddy!
Captain Joe thanks Joe!
I love his videos
Me and all of us
No i absolutely hate them.
more of microsoft flight sim tutorial styled videos would be awesome for all of us who cant fly for real at the moment, this is perfect for learning!!
Working hard on them!
I absolutely love the way you explain Mr. Joe. You never fail to impress us!
Thanks buddy π
@@flywithcaptainjoe I just have a question to you. Does Boeing still continue to manufacture the 747 or is it discontinued. And please tell me how many years old plane do you fly on an average?
And an average life of a 747 is how many years?
@@dhairyashah7268 I am no Captain Joe. But i know that for the 747 they are finishing the orders for the 747-8F (cargo version) af there those are delivered. Boeing will stop production.
for the existing discontinued passenger version they will ether be scrapped for parts or converted to cargo versions.
A bitter sweet bonus for a lot of freighter airliners do to the sudden influx of a lot of 747 passenger versions they will be quite cheap to buy for now.
the time a 747 flies depends on how it's been used but freighter airplanes in general can fly for really long time.
there are still old DC 3 flying to this day because they still pay the bill.
@@sirBrouwer Thanks a lot man!
The most detailed MSFS procedure ive ever watch. Love you capt joe!
12:16 just beuatiful!
When it first opened, London City had a runway length of just 1080m, with a crazy 7.5Β° glideslope, though that's also partly for noise abatement reasons. It was lengthened to 1508m (TORA of 1199m) a few years after opening, and the glideslope was reduced to 5.5Β° at that time. It still has the steepest approach of any UK airport.
Will I actually hurry up and grow up. I wanna be like you
Mr Adam
You defiantly will dear
Me too, that would be a dream come true!
mee too! I would love to become a pilot.
Good luck, Mr Adam. Don't wait for the future to come to you - reach out and grab it! :-)
@@EleanorPeterson Thank you! I really needed that motivation
Wow, the depth of info in this video is truly amazing! Thanks so much Captain Joe!!!
Hey Joe! Love your channel! You've taught me a lot, I just want to say thanks! You have inspired me to continue my dreams, I'm now planning to take my glider license in 2 years. Thanks again and please don't stop doing videos!
Thanks for the feedback buddy! All the best for your glider license!
YAY! Itβs Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020!
Your channel is amazing, it has gotten me ready and prepared for when I take off for the first time
Very nice video captain! Really like the edit in this video, always improving!! More of this would be nice, i learned a lot. Thanks!
This LOOKS EXACTLY like when I flew into here!!!! Also I can see the hotel I stayed in WOW!!!!
Thank you for these awesome Checklists and your effort to create them!
Love this Video Joe! I might never become a pilot or be able to go to fly school, but thanks to this it's the closest I will ever be. Fly to my heart desire and do it seriously with this videos. Thank you very much Joe!
What a good video. Interesting and complex the procedures to flight an airplane. Congrats to all pilots.
I'm learning so much from these videos! Thanks, Joe!
Literally one of the hardest airports to land in - you're a pro
Fantastic video Joe we love how you explain every item on the check list thanks mate love it πβ
Great video Joe, cant't get enough to learn anything about aviation from you...
Really interesting video. Keep up the great work Joe!
Joe is finally in Microsoft Flight Sim :) Very early :D
He already did another video in FS2020
I love you videos captain joe. I wish you will be a great pilot and keep up the good work
Excellent video Joe! I'm a flight student on the 172 right now, and I absolutely loved this explanation of how to fly a pattern in this aircraft.
one of my favorite aviation channels, thank you capn
Thankyou for this amazing video. It was so easy to understand. Hope you make same videos for large planes as well. Not an irl pilot but an enthusiast trying to learn in a simulator. This helped a lot. Thanks once again.ππΌ
Hey Joe a few week back I had my first lesson in a cesna 152. It was a Christmas present for me we booked it for Feb the weather was bad then. Then covid happened so I had to have it closer to 2020 Christmas than to 2019 Christmas when I actually got it
I would really love to see Captain Joe actually flying the plane himself.
Greets from NZCH! Greatly enjoyed and appreciated your video. Thank you once again, and stay well.
Very neat vide idea! Love the screen recording of MSFS2020 showing us particular stuff, very cool captain joe!
Even there are so many videos about the traffic pattern by C-172 on KRplus, this is definitely ever the most understandable one. All processes are explained without lacking. I am jealous it was not there when I was training PPL a few years ago. Thank you Joe !!
Thanks Joe, for your awesome and high quality content! Please do more videos of this kind, a A320neo one with procedures and checklists would be highly desired!
Awesome video Joe, keep it up! I love these type of videos, helps me make summing professional and fun! Thanks for inspiring with my own KRplus channel as well!
Thanks buddy
This is the number of people who want to see CaptainJoe flying the Cessna 172 *on* the MOON in the next video

Ah only 17 likes thus far
@@richy77 yeah coz people are smart and they know a plane can't be flown on moon.
BUT PEOPLE DONT KNOW THAT JOE IS SMARTER AND CAN LITERALLY DO ANYTHINGππ
Awesome video Captain!
I have shared this with the vatsim beginners group on Facebook so we can all learn from your advice!
Thanks for the help buddy!
@@flywithcaptainjoe more than welcome! Vatsim is awesome although I'm only just dropping my toes in!
That's a really great tip to set the heading bug before the takeoff roll. I normally only set it later when I begin navigating away from the home airport. But I suppose you are technically "navigating" as soon as the aircraft leaves the ramp.
Love these videos ! Keep it up joe
Thanks for this helpful video!
As always, love your videos!!
You are making great contents. You gave me so much inspiration to finish my training β€β€
Joe , you are the best youtuber and teacher ever π₯° I learned lots of knowledge from you and you make me more and more interested in aviation π
Amazing video as always. Loved it β€οΈ
Thanks for the videos Joe. Iβve been watching your videos for years now (since middle school) and am currently studying for my PPL written and am working on my undergrad in aerospace engineering. Your videos keep me motivated-you're the man!

Hey Cap! Love your stuff on the channel. Your videos have been a very nice complementary material in my formation as a pilot. IΒ΄ve learned a lot! BTW... it would be nice to get some of your plane models giveaways :D

Am glad you had put this video cuz I was just learning about the Cessna 172ππ»β€οΈ
Lucky me :)
Your outros are always great. Great video as always
Is it possible for you to eventually do a 747 tutorial in MSFS? I have tried to find a good video on how to fly it but Iβm not getting the detail that you give in every video
Thanks for the tips about the heading bug :) I used to use it to keep the number of landings/TO I'm doing in traffic parttern training ^^;
WOW your videos are so good Captain Joe. I have been subscribed for about three years. You were the first channel I subscribed to. When I am older I WILL be a pilot for Virgin Australia and fly 737-800βs.
thank you very much. Great instruction π€π
Favorite Aviation Channel - I now love this guy.

My dad had a Piper Tripacer when I was growing up. I'm glad I can recognize some of this stuff even after so many years. Makes me a little regretful I didn't push to get my license too. Great videos Captain!
I would like to hear the cry/whistle of the stall warning on landing.
Thank you Captain Joe.π―π

Awesome, love it ;D Thanks for the checklist, very useful
Itβs been 25 years since Iβve flown. Brings back a lot of fond memories..
After watching countless videos of traffic and landing patterns this is by far the best instruction by far! Thank you. Can you suggest any other flight sims with valuable lessons of traffic/landing patterns? I have completed all of the MSFS 2020 tutorials and would love to learn more from in game tutorials.
Great video as always.

Highy appreciate what youve done , I have learnt a lot.
Great video! Always land here for aviation learning!
Cool video as always! One question: If I remember correct you told that you were working as a pilot in a skydiving club, right?
So you don't feel like making a video about that and the chances for young pilots to get flight hours doing this?
Good idea! I still have good contact to my former boss and I'm sure he'll be happy to record a video together and ways on how to get your first pilot job!
@@flywithcaptainjoe that could be awesome

I used to fly when I was young with my dad. Gosh I miss flying, he flew the 150 and 172 out of Smart Field in St. Charles County, MO. My last flight with him was in a Grumman Cheetah back in 1981. My dad passed away April 2, 2021. My mom has all his log books and manuals for the planes he flew still.
As usual, this was an awesome video
I know it's late but!!!
Love Captain Joe!
Wonderful.Thank you very much for this video
My fav Pilot. Grate explanation.
Ooo I learned to fly with Cessna 150s and 172s! Been a long time since I've been in one.
You inspire me to be a pilot great video
Its really cool seeing Joe fly the same thing I'm learning to fly in! Even though it's a simulator, it's still cool
I love these videos! I just started my flight training in the Piper Archer TX so it is cool to see the differences and similarities in the Cessna 172. Would you consider making a video like this in the Archer?
Yes absolutely, as the Archer was also one of my flight school planes
You rock man!
A couple of notes...
1. It's a good idea to keep your circuit tighter to remain within gliding distance of the runway in case of an engine failure. Standard rate turns are not required for circuits, with the exception of the crosswind turn where around 10-15 degrees of bank are ideal as you are still climbing. The rest of the turns will usually be between 20 and 30 degrees.
2. The 172R and 172S allow you to extend the first 10 degrees of flaps below 110 knots; it only requires 85 knots (top of the white arc) for 20 degrees and up. You should be able to see this noted if you zoom in on the flaps lever.
Otherwise, great video! Keep it up!
probably the most useful and engaging explanation for realistic C172 procedures. keep it up π
Thanks buddy
Thank for the checklist Capt π

I live right next to London City Airport and as much as I hate to say this, that scenery looks nothing like what it does in real life. Hopefully they update the airport and scenery. Amazing video!!
