I’m no coaching expert, but from hearing Thierry’s TV commentary, he seems like the kind of guy who knows exactly what he wants (and he is definitely articulate and knowledgeable) but can’t convey those ideas to his team effectively probably because of impatience or inability to improve players.

Could be a possibility. I would give Henry some leeway considering these are young players who he probably doesn’t have a lot of time to work with. Which also means they might still make young player mistakes since they’re still learning their trade. Not to say giving a 2 goal lead is a good thing. Just hoping adding some context might explain what happen or give a different view. I’d also need to watch the game to see how France played because it could’ve been a situation where the US just knicked a tie.

I remember the analogy I n Baseball, Barry Bonds is famously another who became a batting coach and would tell players how to see the ball and hit and say that’s it. That’s all you got to do, but the players would say he didn’t really coach them. And that they wanted more.

It seems to me that if Ricardo Pepi's minutes at Copa America are likely to be at best very limited (IE he's behind Balogun and one of Sargent/Wright), it would make a lot of sense sending him to the Olympics since he's age eligible and wouldn't count as overage.

Yeah we have 6 nine's currently in the pot for US Soccer (Balogun, Pepi, Sargent, Wright, Pefok, and Vasquez). All of them can't make the COPA squad. One of the odd men out should be on the olympic team.

Not that I care about the result of a friendly, but that penalty call seemed a bit weird to me. The fact that he gave him the opportunity to get his shot off and missing before actually calling it. Wouldn't it either be an advantage or a penalty? not both?
