Little Cupie had to grow up faster than the others. Poor thing. I wonder how her face got hurt. She's so cute peeking out of her house. 😍 Your family is getting much larger isn't it Choo Choo. I still think often of the first chipmunk you were caring for when I started watching you and Tom, Chucky. I miss her. She'll always be in my heart. 💖
That's one smart chipmunk, it learnt that it can drink water from a pot lying upside down.
My heart melts for Cupie! I know it's normal to be independent from mom in 3 months. However, since she was born late in the year it just seems harder for her to gather food in a short time frame and survive the winter. I hope she makes it through the winter!

🍃Cupie is sweet, I like her home entrance under that tree root 😊. Saw our first chipmunk of the season today little Down Spout looked healthy. She came up to the deck to the door this morning looking for food I gave her some walnut pieces she was pleased. ❤🍃

Makes me wonder too because it's happening to too many of them unless it could be a neighbors cat and they may go after chipmunks. However like lizards chipmunks can lose part of their tail to eliminate poison from their system and they don't tend to fall for it again after that and avoid whatever they ate or drunk. Their tails can also get caught on something. I just hope it's not someone removing them.

How do they drink during winter sleep?
We had a couple days of warmer weather and my chipmunk came out but I haven’t seen it since after a week . Maybe it’s a girl and she has babies or maybe it came out for some fresh air and went back to sleep for a couple more weeks . We shall see

What happens to these poor babies’ tails? I know how they like to cuddle up with their tail when it’s cold so it’s sad to see their ‘blanket’ shrink. 😉
