I decided against putting in the team and individual finals where only one completed because i thought it would be monotonous and overly long.

Honestly, Shawn has to be one of the cleanest elite gymnasts of all time. Her form is so damn tight.

I just adore Bart Conner on commentary! His passion for gymnastics really shines and its so obvious that he wants everyone to do their best. He's so positive, i just love it.

Shawn is so underrated on bars.. she hit every single handstand! Toes pointed, great rhythm, high flying releases and a stunning dismount.

I wouldn't say she hit every handstand... she usually was a little short on each one actually. Other than that her form is perfect, but that wasn't the issue. She just didn't have the difficulty other than the dismount.
@@Andrew-pf5fj I still think she was underscored. Her E score was always between 8.7 and 9 and I just don't see that many deductions in her routine. Nastia got the same E score and just her full and full and a half spins and dismount alone should be 1 point in deductions if not more plus her close paks and turning on the low bar was usually around 30 degrees and bent arms. I watched Shawn and Nastia rewatching the olympics the other day and Shawn brought up the fact that commentators always talked about how her bars weren't the best and it was obviously painful for her to be judged so harshly. But she always hit her routines perfectly! Less difficult but I thought her E should have been higher than Nastia's.
She really was so on point! I think a lot of people prefer the graceful style as opposed to the powerful style. That’s probably why she’s underrated.
These videos are great. Truly gained so much more respect for Nastia. She's a fighter.
I just realized that I've never seen Shawn Johnson fall on bars or floor exercise, in any competition as a senior.

Yaasssss that is so ugly ,she perform so gracefull but that dissmouth ,I CAN'T
She's said that she tried a bunch of dismounts but couldn't make any of them work really - she knew her legs were separated etc here, but this was the best she could do.
She previously had a double layout, but started piking it down when she grew.
She reacted to her UB routine in the AA and said that she knew her dismounts were awful lmao but it's the only one she could pull off

Lol she literally used to do that DLO but her growth made it hard to do and she was already piking it down bad. There’s actually video of her doing the double front 1/2 by itself with good form. Unfortunately, after her marathon bars routines the form understandably went to heck

Yes she lost in Worlds AA 2005 by 1/100th of a point...it was so hard to see her so upset then.

Obviously, in this competition Shawn was the best but Nastia is more elegant, more artistic gymnast and it's noted that she's not american and she's russian even if she competed for United States. American gymnasts never will be so artistic, elegant, gentle and so loved to watch like Nastia.
It is my understanding she grew up in America. She has a very elegant body type, as well. American gymnasts have all sorts of different body types. Some are built for power and some for elegance. So to say "never"...I don't think that's necessarily true.

I would say Shawn won, I understand Nastia has surgery recently,but if she has surgery she SHOULD NOT be competing. I'm gymnast myself. And her dad should not be that tough on her I understand that he wants her to be really good but Nastia should be in Ballet
tbhxnat ballet would be a problem for her too as you need a phenomenal amount of strength as a female ballerina especially in terms of pointe and ankles because there is so much stress on your ankles

Puppy Lover2006 gymnastics is judged very strictly and if the athlete makes a mistake, the judges will deduct. and yes it does mean that they should give them a bad score if they deserve it.

But that's their job. The judges are People who have been involved with FIG, the governing body of gymnastics for many years. They're not just random people, I promise! These are people who understand the nuances and complexities of this amazing sport. They know exactly what to look for and how each skill is to be performed. Without them, there would literally be no reason for gymnastics. Competing, creating routines, and demonstrating skills in those routines are what push these amazing men and women to be better!

Nastia Liukin was the poor man's version of Svetlana Khorkina, who at least got stronger as she got older. Shawn Johnson was superior in quality. Ms. Nastia is disappointing I thought she'd be better than this. No way could she have won all those medals looking like this---sitting down almost every dismount. I'd never seen her performances this is disappointing from her. I thought she'd be better than this. Isn't she a two-time world champion?
